I think it's time for a clue. I have no idea what it is.

"No my students. Five people using all hands doing rock, paper, scissors at does not solve any problem."

wow, i couldn't even find that shot to confirm my hunch. I just got the feeling that I recognized the costumes, not the actors.
Well, yet another one, I have no idea what makes for a "good" clue:

Yes, Catherwood is correct, the "great" "classic" musical version of Lost Horizon featuring a singing Liv Ullman and Peter Finch (in this clip) and the touching (dancing and singing) love story of George Kennedy and Sally Kellerman (post her breakout spin as Hot Lips Houlihan in the original M*A*S*H), John Geilgud with makeup to make him look vaguely (if not convincingly) asian, and oh so many wonderful period (1970's) touches. Nehru jackets were big then, I recall. Words and Music by the great if cliched Burt Bachrach and Hal David. Those were the days...
Catherwood, yer up!

OK, shocked at how few stills there are from this classic on the web, and I apologize for not so great resolution...

The Liquidator? Except Jill St. John was never painted gold.
Or... the real golden girl and ole Wilfred were in "Carry On Nurse" 1959. Which is not a mystery movie.
Then there's Conspirator, with Honor Blackman who was in Goldfinger but also not painted gold.
Or... (gave up on B&W films too early) - Ten Little Indians, which does include the golden girl and Wilfred and Stanley Holloway (I think that's him in the pic above) AND it's a mystery. Pretty please?

And the guy on the left was in My Fair Lady...

It's neither of those, though the genre is mystery.
One little clue: One of the cast members (not pictured) was painted gold in an earlier film.

I did say that. Wasn't it clear? I did not say; "To simplify things".

"This is a demonstration of a talking picture"
I can't help jumping in here, for one of my all time favorites... "Singin' in the Rain".
