How about a great American musical, "An American in Paris" perhaps?

Ah, what young woman wouldn't recognize one of the best horse stories ever told, but the great author Walter Farley.
The scenes of Cass-ole (the main animal of the four magnificant horses trained for this movie) interacting with the island, the boy, and the race course - pure poetry.
You're up, drizjr

Just a guess...is it "The Black Stallion"?

Yes, that is a horse race (a climatic scene in the movie) but no, it's not Hildago, not Sea Biscuit, not Black Beauty.

It looks a little too slick for Ben-Hur I guess...?
I too do not know that many horse-featuring movies, so my guess would be Hidalgo...

Nope, not Black Beauty.

Well, for one, there's also Hidalgo...though I probably wouldn't recognize it or be able to tell it from the others.
