First of all thanks to Ehsan for posting the still. (my apartment is now finally cleaned and habitable though the re-painting will take a while)
I wouldn't have used that movie, thinking it was too recent and too well-watched by ARG people, but what do I know? I'll keep my narrow-release Scandinavian anti-war but pro-summer solstice movie on hold for the next time I inexplicably guess a correct title.
Second, I can't believe I missed guessing this one. I just can't keep up. I knew that movie in an instant because in addition to being my name (yes rose is a real nickname, not just a made-up-for-a forum nickname) it is a fantastic book and good movie which features Christian Slater doing a damn good job in his first big-screen role.

Correct, or close enough anyhow (Der Nom der Rose or The Name of the Rose).

If it wasn't for the sunshine, I'd try Beowulf. As it is, I'll try Van Helsing.

Technically speaking, the procedure is brain damage.
It's on a par with a night of heavy drinking, nothing you'll miss.

I used the shorter flashback scenes, because your mind blanks them out. If you've seen the movie you know what I mean
I realize now why I remember your hint capture, though, even if I remember it kind of unclearly: I remember thinking when I saw this scene how amazingly weathered that house looks, and how it was amazing that location scouts can find places like that to shoot.
And now, our feature presentation:
Edit: Fixed post title to get quote correct

A little voice in my head is saying Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but I'm not sure why. I think maybe it's from one the flashback scenes, or maybe this is just an indication that my mind could use some rearranging.

Sense you said the guesses so far were very cold, this probably isn't it... but..
Is it May?
I can't quite remember what the doll looked like in that one, but it freaked me out.
