I think you did just fine talkin' to him, CissMiace.
That's kinda funny that he says "2665TSOC" but the symbol # for infinity (on the site he linked to) is 26:34. There's not a 26:65 that I can see.

HELP Im speaking with mPathytest on AIM, and I just know im going to balls up xD
Ok, just finished my convo with mPathytest. Ive never had a convo with a in game charecter before so forgive me if I sound stupid xD
Quote:
CissMiace: Hi there!
mPathytest : hello (stranger?)
CissMiace : I think we are in the same community on live journal =)
mPathytest : ah good yes! so you are part of 2665TSOC?
mPathytest : (infinity is a lot more powerful than 8 you know!)
CissMiace : haha yes it is!
mPathytest : i haven't been to the LJ in a while
mPathytest : I've been busy thinking of possible solutions, like swarm commuting
CissMiace : Oh really? I was very interested in your poll on your journal
mPathytest : how did you vote? CissMiace : I vote id do anything to save the world I enjoyed your test also. Sorry Im a little slow with replying. My laptop isnt what it used to be!
mPathytest : oh so do you have a famous SF alter ego then, too?
CissMiace : Yes, I have! It was liberating
CissMiace : I am trying to prepare myself
mPathytest : oh good
mPathytest : well let me see if I can help
CissMiace : That would be wonderful
mPathytest : Have you been to http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ yet?
None of the ∞TSOC made this site, as far as I know. But eeek… it's totally must read
mPathytest : This article I read yesterday is an interesting second opinion… http://www.anarkismo.net/newswire.php?story_id=5296 I was really interested in the "understanding the power of humans to innovate" section. SF writer alter egos might help us dream up the innovations to save a world without oil!
CissMiace : Thank you! I havent read those yet, but will read them right away!
mPathytest : Excellent. And whisper just who your SF alter ego was to me when you have a chance (maybe post it on my blog) I think that will be an intereresting way to classify how we each might be able to pitch in when the time comes...
CissMiace : I will definatley do that for you!
mPathytest : very cool. talk to you soon then!
CissMiace : Take care!
edit: Im not sure if its visable to everyone else, but on my screan its a little hard to see one of the links.
Where mPathytest says "ah good yes! so you are part of 2665TSOC?" the 2665 is a link to http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/26/2634.html
Return of edit; Also, I know it was suggested that they will be wanting various bloggers to write about their experiences in a world withut oil. And I guess thats what they were hinting at with the 'post which SF writer you are...etc etc' I'm jus a little worried, about some things;
1) Im in the UK
2) Im very ill, and cant always come online, etc.
Should I still post my results? / unnecessary worry

Wow theres so many links already! Looks like its going to be a good one!
I dont have anything valuable to add to this, just remember when your talking to a charecter you dont keep refering to it as an arg or a game, thats really bad form.
Ok, we've got a lot of player-created resources now... let's make sure we don't duplicate each other's efforts. Each resource has its strength, so I think we've got a good collection of stuff now, and there's still a month before launch... let's calm down a bit
that said, good work and good effort everyone. At least we know we've got loads of people who are already invested in this ARG

Thank you, Xnera! Now we can keep actually keep track of the bazillion links we compiled. I love feeds.

Thanks Rekidk for putting that list together!
Since a good portion of the activity seems to be happening on LiveJournal, and because I like having only a few places to check for updates, I've gone and created a "watching journal" on LiveJournal. It's here:
It has all of the characters and communities friended. I've also created LJ syndicated accounts for every RSS feed that I could find, so that you can see updates just by viewing the various friends filters. There might be a delay before the LJ syn account sees an update, but it should catch them all.
The links for the various Friends filters are in the top white heading box, and are divided into the following categories:
LiveJournal Blogs
Vox Blogs
Photo Feeds (Vox Photo feeds, Flickr feeds)
del.icio.us feeds
Other Feeds (Story So Far blog, mPathytest's 43 Things)
ALL updates (shows all of the above on one page)
I also included a link list on the right-hand side with all of the links that Rekidk found. The AIM screennames should be clickable, depending on your browser/IM program. My combo of Firefox/Gaim isn't letting me click them, but I've used such links before so I'm pretty sure they'll work.
For those who have their own LiveJournals and wish to add the syndicated accounts to their friends list, these are the ones I set up:
wwo_vox_posts - Vox blog posts
wwo_vox_photos - Vox photo posts
wwo_vox_audio - Vox audio posts
wwo_vox_vids - Vox video posts
wwo_vox_books - Vox book posts
wwo_vox_coll - Vox Collection posts
wwo_flickr_ils - Illiana Speedster's Flickr
wwo_43_mpathy - mPathytest's 43 Things
wwo_story - Story So Far blog
The Vox feeds actually watch the neighborhood of wwowatcher, a WWO watcher blog I set up on Vox. I might tweak its layout so it has all the links, too, but I don't know Vox as well as I know LJ. Mostly I set it up because it was the only way to get feeds to use for LJ syndicated accounts.
I may do some more tweaking of colors or layout. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see added or if you have any other suggestions. Hopefully this will make it easier to follow the game for those of you who don't have LJs or don't wish to get one.

Rekidk this is awesome, thank you! I've been putting off getting involved with this because of the large amount of pre-game info. This will definitely make it easier.
That was my reason for not posting in this thread recently as well. Thanks for the hard work Rekidk!

That sort of investigative poking that happens before April 30th will be much like I Love Bees.
The official game launches April 30th, but there's all this pre-game stuff planned to get us primed. What's concerning me is, how much of this material is necessary for players who just discover all of it on April 30th? The date is compared to the payphones. (For my part, I'm going to link this to a bunch of college campus online communities, and I was planning on waiting til the end of April, but now I'm unsure.)
When this game gets it own sub-forum, that post should definitely be stickied!
Great job, rekidk!

Keeping Track of Everything
I was very overwhelmed by the amount of IG material we've already been presented with, so I've decided to compile it and organize it into categories by character. I just looked around from known sites that linked to other known sites, and here's what I came up with so far. Please tell me if I missed things; I will edit to include them. Thanks!
Note: There are no OOG sites included, despite their relevance. For example, we keep receiving articles indicating that there may be an oil crisis in the near future; due to the fact that these are strictly OOG (despite their relevance), I didn't include them. That, and the fact that I couldn't track them all down.
Edit: Thanks to Rogi Ocnorb for pointing out the WWO Wordpress, and also for drawing my attention to the WWO LiveJournal community, which is in-game. I have listed both at the bottom of the page in the 'Other' section.
Edit (4/9/07): WWO Wordpress (OOG story-so-far) was deleted the other day, so I removed it. I added the WWO Watcher set up by Xnera, because it is an awesome resource that saves us all from needing dozens of feeds to keep track of updates.
Edit (4/13/07): Added Grace's Mom's email from the Pitchforkmedia article. Added Pachinko's LiveJournal.
Edit (4/18/07): Added the Photobucket album from Pachinko. As of yet, it hasn't been confirmed that it's 'his' (under his control), so it's at the bottom.
Edit (4/21/07): Added 'unconfirmed' to AIM addresses that we have not yet had contact with. Also, changed several AIM addresses that were incorrect, and deleted localboy's (which is OOG).
Edit (4/21/07-2): Added contact info from LJ profiles. This helped confirm some AIM addresses, and also helped add other forms of contact, like LJ Talk (Jabber). Gracesmom also has a bunch of different chat programs, and we have a confirmed AIM address for Chuckles.
Edit (4/23/07): Added some random YuckyMuck sites, a couple new contact links for Yucky and Inky, Chuckles's YouTube, the Hero Signup page, and Dessum9's wordpress.
Edit (4/25/07): Added a variety of YouTube and Del.Icio.Us accounts, added some localboy accounts, and the Wayfaring map player resource.
Edit (4/26/07): Added mPathy's del.icio.us and the WWO Flickr player resource.
At this point, I'm all for tracking our known friends - the 10 we know of - and taking anything else that pops up with a grain of salt. heck, it hasn't even launched yet, I don't see why loads of other arg-related sites would be popping up. Right now all we know is there's the launch site and a number of people chatting (building hype) in their blogs about what's going down April 30th. Beyond that, unless specifically referred to... *shrug*

Ironically, a radio-cast I heard in passing last night (flipping through stations) mentioned something about Oil and April 30th. Very interesting.
Hate to say it to some of you but: I told ya this was already off the launch pad.
I've been fairly busy lately, not alot of new finds. I have noticed that Mpathytest seems to be somewhat absent from AIM alot lately, at least when I'm around.

We're a month out from launch and I'm already overwhelmed by the number of blogs we'll need to monitor (I stopped positng my finds till that all settles down, some, as several of them are either player creations or haven't had a good TINAG check done yet). I'm struck at how much more encompassing this whole thing could become given all the technological possibilities.
It looks like our main characters will be representing fairly strict archetypes (Like Illiana_Speedster, who is into motorsports and Chuckles, our survivalist), so I'm guessing we'll have ample opportunities to break out into workgroups based on our interests.
This last round of price hikes doesn't seem to have a lot driving it. My assumption is that big oil is passing the costs for their increased interest in alternative solutions on to us in a pretty direct fashion. It kind of pains me to think that whatever solutions we might come up with, unless the government steps in to subsidize, will be implemented by the same people who are running the oil industry, now.
Maybe we'll set new precedents for patents awarded to groups collaborating on the internet.
Summer is right around the corner, so we'll be seeing the normal jump in prices very soon.
