I'm thinking Ann-Margret but can't take it any farther.
Well it's a remake, but can't find anything to suggest these scenes come from it: "State Fair"?

One of those movies that, when you see the remake, you wonder why they did it (goes for both remakes). This version was the first actual feature film for the girl in the middle, but due to release problems, it came out after the 2nd movie she made. It was done again, 14 years after this version, but as a "made for TV movie".
And even more risque.

I scare myself sometimes. Next hint will probably be about Gerry Anderson or Jim Henson. Clearly it's not Fragle Rock or Tunderbirds...so..
I go for:
Wizard of Oz. (or something close/derived)

Ironically, The Puppet Masters has been remade twice.
Some other random guesses:
Showboat
Heaven Can Wait
Back Street
(I've never actually seen any of these, but they've all been remade twice )

This version of the movie is a remake of one from 17 years earlier. And that one was a remake of one from 12 years before that. Of course, there was the stage play which preceeded them all.
As it progresses, things get a little more risque.

The Puppet Masters ?
That stripy character looks familiar..somehow. I think this one is outside my cultural reference circumference.

This was just 1 guess...(note the arrows and how they have 'seemingly nothing' in comon with the shots) I was merely demonstrating how, through lateral thinking, you can come to a wrong answer.
But scotish was not the kloo..so I shall bend my mind around..footy...er...
..nothing springs to mind except
51st State.
.but that's not it.

Hey Puppy - I think we stipulated a long time ago that 1-2 guesses per post would be fair game. 3 or more and you could be taking away the guess of another.
