PSA to all - don't visit www . insearchoflovecraft . com - it's virus-ridden!!
I'm on a Mac at the moment, and nothing looks virusy to me (that is, I haven't gotten any), except that it's kind of lame and full of weird spam links. I guess I'll check it when I get back to my (well protected) windows machine.
There is definitely at least a javascript virus in the base page. I didn't go any farther than that.

Before y'all spend too much time looking for a connection in the I Ching numbers. With regards to this sequence:
Quote:
1) R = 5, 1, 6
The list you're using is incorrect, the sequence is 45, 1, 6.

You can do it! I'd keep the current letters in there as well, though, in case we're wrong.

I think there is a mistake in the 3rd one. I think the letter should be N but I may be wrong. I think this should be the 25th letter on the 20th line on page 335 which starts "shall swim out to that brooding reef ..." making the 25th letter N.
Should we be counting spaces or not ?
I thought so too (check my post), but thought I'd just miscounted. Yeah, I'd definitely say to ignore spaces and punctuation, as that's pretty standard in book codes.

Hey PMs! You have at least two (and one ex) South-Africans playing this game. And a Brit. I feel that it would only be fair to send out some care packages.
What, do only Americans die in creepy flame-filled cities now? :p
ex- South African, current Canadian, living in Lyon, France for a bit. Do I get a package for each country?
Hi, I'm also South African, why don't the arg administrators send me a package to Stellenbosch
... please?

This probably is just a hijacked website, but recall that the Dilbert comic I got was about viruses (specifically, Catbert advocating the creation of a virus for the purpose of selling an anti-virus), and 2600 being a hacker periodical puts that also in the realm of viruses.
Anyway, I'm not very optimistic that there's something really worth looking at on this website, but beyond that, I'm just curious -- does anyone know a how a website gets commandeered to that extent without its creators being complicit? I seem to recall a virus from a couple years ago that infected Microsoft servers and forced them to append malicious javascript to any request, so is that what this is? There's a ton of junk in the code, including a whole mess of unescaped stuff that escapes to even more spam and virus-related document.writes, so maybe something like that is how all this got on the page to begin with.

I've expanded the list to 15, assuming the order of the iChing is the correct order, and added additional info from the latest scans:

I won't have a package coming, but I couldn't resist answering this one. Hmph.

Dearest BA,
The crowd. I had to go, it was too late. I walked and found the Chinese parade, full of dragons. I had to go deep underground for my friends, but did reach them later.
I still need the others.
We'll see you later.
