3rd shift checking in! just read all 22 pages. I "Lovecraft" it, I'm in. Wasn't there a craigslist for Indianapolis? Anyways I found this intresting:

I don't know if anyone noticed this but that is, but that is not an octopus. That is Cthulhu! Another H.P. Lovecraft tie in. If it has already been stated "My Bad" My eyes hurt after the 20th page so ? I just noticed people calling it an Octopus.

Plus my Lovecraft and information on the lost continent of MU are fresh from LG15 and creating Doomskull! Yeah Very Happy

I approve of minions!

I might of dreamt it, but I *think* someone mentioned the elder sign, but I could be wrong!

sorry if i'm pointing out something obvious, but didn't find the info on the thread nor the wiki: the sign on one side of the coin is the Elder Sign, which is supposed to be kind of a protection. Also, "Cthulhu was sealed within the barnacled tower at R'lyeh by the Elder Sign, which his minions are powerless to touch" (http://cthulhufiles.com/cthsecte.htm#elder_sign_2)

The original representation of the sign being the other picture attached

As PST Productions mentioned 'The Silver Key' that was written by H P Lovecraft, the only refrence I can currently find to 'green' is 'The Green Meadow'

Quote:
The Green Meadow is a short story by H.P. Lovecraft and Winifred V. Jackson written in 1918/19 and published in the spring 1927 issue of The Vagrant.

Edit: At a stretch, there is also a refrence to cities burning in HP Lovecrafts 'The street'

Finally! I have read every post! Though now that I have, I can't think of much to say, damn.

Anyways, I'll be taking a refreshed course on teh Lovecraft over the next couple of days. So, hopefully that will come in handy. I called the number left my name, number, and addy. I guess only time will tell right now. Other than the EldritchErrors site, there don't seem to be any web trails that we need to be looking into, aside from the CraigsList ads.

Well, as per usual, you can find me lurking on the ChatSolutions Server, and maybe even in the channel! Heh.

strange website

sorry for the double post. I was frying my brain over at the wiki sight and just started doing random googles for info. I came across this website which surely has no place here (probably). www.askdreldritch.com. I found this after looking at the eldritcherrors website and googling eldritch. The word means strange, unearthy, weird, eerie. I discovered the website and thought that someone may get a kick out of it.

thought this was funnyhttp://www.askdreldritch.com/ae070410.html. the whole "you can handle the truth" and the talk of apocalypse and groups getting together to change it. It's out of game but helped me to kill an hour of so of what could have been some much needed beauty sleep.

just saying hello

Hello everyone. I guess I would call myself a lurker trying to move on into the next phase. Haven't said anything so far...kinda waiting on more info. I think it is obvious and has probably been pointed out that the packages were sent to people that would quickly form together here. My take on it is this...B.A. has repeatedly said to go find the others and once (I think) said that together is the only way to sove the mystery or however she put it. So it makes sense that other than the paintings being in need of organization so too the clues in the pages. The I Ching definitly has some noteworthyness but it seems more that the numbers would represent pages that someone else has gotten. This just ensures that everything is shared and intertwined. As for everyone that has gotten pkgs, have you replied to the craigslist and said that you have received as much or called the number. Seems irrelevent to mention this since you guys and gals are WAY more seasoned than myself.

I would also like to thank everyone for their open arms to all the newbies.

Sorry for the ramblings but its late and the beer is good.

Sorry for the hassle - would you be able to get photos of each sheet in full (to see all 4 edges in each shot) front and back? It's more a matter of matching up the halves than reading what's on the pages... basically if possible, 4 pictures - labelled as the front and back of page 1 and 2. To avoid the flash glare, you could either boost the light in the room or find better lighting and not use a flash, or set your camera to a higher ISO setting (quality of the image really doesn't matter much) and not use the flash...
if that's not too much to ask, that would make things so much easier and neater Smile
Take a look at the picturebook page to see what I mean...

Wow there's a Cthulhu group in San Francisco?

I finally finished reading all 21 pages of this forum and I'm ready to play and/or lurk. This is starting off really well. I read a bunch of Lovecraft a very long time ago, hopefully I will start to remember some of it. I really can't wait to see the whole painting completed.

Silver and the Mythos

The color silver, or the material silver is used in the Mythos at large. It is often most quoted to "The Silver Key".

This Mythos artifact was said to have been forged in the land of Hyperborea.

It is said that one who holds the key while certain words are spoken, while holding it up to the setting sun and rotated 9 times can transfer you to any time desired. It also has an ultimate power, the opening of the Ultimate Gate, which is the gateway to all knowledge. But to do that you must face 'Umr At-Tawil, its guardian. He is also know by another name: Yog-Sothoth.

I doubt the creators went super Mythos heavy. If so, only a very few hardcore Mythos Nuts would really be able to dive headlong into the mystery.

In the Mythos, it was used by The Carter Family: Randolph Carter, Edmund Carter, Crusader Geoffrey Carter.

Ok, losing sanity just remembering this stuff. Time to hit the sack for the evening...

I should also point out that there may have been other reasons that people are chosen to receive packages, and if you didn't receive a package, you still may turn out to be a very valuable member of the player community.

heh. I would say that receiving packages are not at all an indication of value to the player community. I think the packages are an indication of people who work for ARGN or who can otherwise be counted on to post information.
Whether you got a package or not is not indicative of your value as a player.

Exactly. I think our value (to the PMs and to the community) in this case was that they could assume we'd tell people about what we'd received.

Yes, I was wondering if there was a reason behind using both colors. I mean unless the wax used comes with two colors already, it is obviously deliberate. Do either of those colors have any special significance in Lovecraft's works? I admit I haven't ever read that much of his work. I was a bit too jumpy about reading them until recently.

I probably won't be on tomorrow, due to prom. Mom doesn't believe that I don't want to play Cinderella for the night. (insert gagging noise here)
