this is my first time playing an arg, and while i'm not sure i'll be able to avoid cursing ENTIRELY ig, i'll certainly keep it to a minimum there, as well as designate the presence of profanity at the top of any entries etc.

Yay! My blog is linked! [/boast]
I agree with RedHatty. This is one of the nicest communities I've ever encountered, but the kids/parents don't know that, so let's not scare them off.

Just to clarify, I wasn't pointing any fingers in any directions. I have something like 70 friends on LiveJournal now (WOW) and I see all their blogs too, friends page is one of my bookmarks. I just noticed a couple of posts that were using a bit of profanity, so I figured that if I mentioned something, maybe we wouldn't see too much more of that through the course of the game. I have a 12 yr old & a 15 yr old, & while I know that they can curse (hey, their Momma was a Sailor), it doesn't mean I allow them to, ya know. If middle school & high school kids get involved in the game & ESPECIALLY if this is their introduction to ARGs (which means if they have parents like me, the folks are looking it over too) I want to give them a wonderful impression of the experience, the players & the community. Let all the new ARGers see that this genre is a way to increase intelligence and mental skills (like problem solving).
Can you tell I love this stuff?

Im glad we got the translation! A lot of info to mull over but some of it doesnt make sense. I'm glad to finally have the english translation however it came from someone who isnt fully experienced with the english language, as can kinda be seen from his AIM conversation with Abilor/Colt. I'll feel a lot better once we get the translation from an expert.
Everyone enjoy tomorrow... One more day of suspense!

For those who follow this thread, whether on UnForums as members or lurkers who are playing WWO, can we please try to remember that this game is being promoted through the public school systems too & try to keep our language here & on the blogs a little more PG-13?
I know that kids say it too when the adults aren't around, but we don't have to reinforce that it is okay to use language that can be avoided with a little more thought.

I didn't realize that this was being promoted in the public schools. Thanks for the headsup. Now I'm happy that I've been separating my personal posts (I can get a bit sweary when I'm angry) and my WWO posts.
PS Mpathytest sent me a message while I was off AIM...

So Yay!

so much is happening, so little to contribute.
as for why iniscool. my only theory is that 'sinoil' is a part anagram of iniscool
add co for 'sinoil co' - but that's a reach
sinoil seems to be a chinese oil company
which makes no sense until you see that SINOIL is referred to on yucky muck's crisisenergetica page (sorry i'm no good at links), as an author i think (is that spanish?). there is a bio in the same language for sinoil on this site, which mentions peak oil.
also yuckmuck's first link on the del.icio.us site is: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/qap/smstats/platnames/
which has 'sinoil' as a descriptor, in the site sinoil is a weather platform & there are several nicos as well.
& lastly the pic of everysunday in photobucket is labelled '04-opr-sinoil.jpg'
i have no conclusions - more just making links between things to see if it rings any bells for anyone else.
edit: oh, and great job on the translation
edit 2.0: maybe i am belaboring the point, but in nico's pic he could very well be standing in front of a building labelled 'sinoil'

I don't have a working livejournal account so I don't think I can post there.
What we know about Nico?
1. He was in the airport in Denver with them. He was probably on business as he has a picture of some equipment in the snow and the hotel.
2. He posts images under the name of iniscool and labels them with Eclipse 07.
3. People he fears are looking for him. After his identity was published on the worldwithoutoil livejournal he had to run. EverySunday posted a strange video telling him to come back.
4. Not sure what nationality he is, but he obviously speaks English and Bulgarian. He has visited South America and China.
5. Not sure what his job is- but he sounds like a spy.
----
About the video:
I don't think we quite understand the entire message. There are two cameras and two points of view, one black and white camera is like a security or other camera that was taping her while the other tape (full color video) was made. And what she says is odd. (Spy talk? Telling Nico to come home or he will be left out in the cold?)
I don't think the tape is threatening grace or her Mom as much as it is threatening Nico by showing how much they know about him (although it was posted on the blog for the whole world to see so I don't know how scared he would be of that.)
I also think that maybe the woman being filmed is in danger? If Nico doesn't come back she will be harmed? She already mentioned that he made her look bad with the company. If he doesn't come back, what happens to her?
The video is definitely threatening Nico, but I'm not sure about how and why exactly.
Is the woman in the video in any of the images Nico posted? I'm not good at recognizing people. I know there is a woman in the NYC photo with the gates, could this be the same woman?

Got this as a reply on my post on my blog where I said that I don't want gracesmom to feel guilty or responsible for Nico's situation.

Aw, thanks, you are so sweet to say so.
I can't help feeling bad--if youd seen Nico in Denver, and then seen him Wed night--he's a wreck and he looks like one. Its like watching someone crash and burn and there's nothing you can do about it. But in our case, there might be. Nico said we "owed" him which made lots of people mad, but I think we owe ourselves too. To keep our heads in this crisis and remember that we need each other. Its not good to be alone and hes alone now. Whatever happens next week, no one should face it alone.
Nico just called
He said yes. I need the $$. You can wire it to the store, I'll be there until closing today.
I'll call on my break w/the details OK? I don't trust posting stuff here anymore.

We are having some trouble understanding this exactly, so your theories/interpretations are welcome

I noticed this before, but I had no idea what to say to it. The only questions I have are ones that would probably get a negative response. Like how much money is he asking for, and what store... However I'm guessing from gracesmom's comment, there wouldnt be a reply. She doesnt seem to want to post anything anymore...
