I wrote up a description of what happened this past month, to explain to non-players and to just put it all together.

I understand that WWO is going to try to archive the whole bit. Why don't you approach your school and see if they would like to conduct they're own program for say, the journalism students. I think that I will be suggesting that to my local school system. Someone posted that the schools were not allowing the students to participate because the students would have live blogs (safety considerations?). However if the blogging was done internally, the concept might just work!
Now that's an idea! I think that the English teacher who does Creative Writing courses at my school might be open to the idea, even if it's just for one or two writing assignments.

Same thing happened to me Rekidk....I'm still pretty busy with work and all. Hopefully all will have settled down once I get playing the other ARGs I've been waiting a long time for.
All in all WWO was interesting and thought provoking but I kind of rather like the escape from reality that some games tend to have. All in all though it was really cool with all the interaction (both pre-game and during the game). So I give a thumbs up interaction-wise but it became a little too 'school project about the oil crisis'-like. I'm all for lots of players but I'd rather play something more to do with puzzles. While I've enjoyed the game it usually isn't my cup of tea...
I agree with this sentiment. Really, I enjoyed the pregame a whole lot--we got some great interaction with the characters as well as good information.
However, I don't think I'd call this a school project--I'd be esctatic (sp?) if my school decided to do this as a graded projet. Although, you're right--oftentimes the topics felt like assignments.

Wow, this is already almost over! I feel terrible... I was so ready to participate, I had ideas for videos, etc... Then real life took its hold and I never really became active.
However, I still kinda followed along, and it's been an interesting ride.
I'll miss G-mom the most. :'(

Nico
On the community journal for today, it seems that8tsoc heard from Nico. He warns about another oil shock.

Meanwhile, Gracesmom got another phone call from Nico (remember Nico? He's the guy who tipped us off about this oil shock coming). Nico says that a second shock is "inevitable - as soon as it's clear you are able to pay more, you will be." So our days are numbered in more ways than one.
I guess thats it then.
On a personal note I have learned one thing..... I ain't no blogger
Okay, so here's how it works. Every few weeks, I'll post a new challenge. The best responses will each win an official one-ton WWO Carbon Offset Award. Actually, Evie said that the name "Carbon Offset Award" was really boring and you could probably think of a better one. So that's your first challenge. Post suggestions for a more interesting name for these awards in the comments. The best one will win the very first award!
I had the following response to an entry I made on my LJ Account
Quote:
In principal such an object could be used as a counterweight to a light, yet strong, space elevator pylon
Good news - we don't need a huge mucking rock for a counterweight. Extend the total length of the thing to 100,000 kms, park the deployment vehicle at the end for a small counterweight and Bob's Your Uncle.
Plus with a ribbon that long we get a space flinger - objects at the end of the ribbon achieve terrestrial escape velocity.
Which isn't to say that using an asteroid would not be cool - it would be. But we don't _need_ one.

As a PM on Orbital Colony this is funny on so many levels

tinag right?
My wife tried to blame the game today for the recent rise of gas prices.
