Well, it's also another clue... The name of this movie isn't a state-name (although it míght contain one).
Too bad I haven't seen any 'Western Musical' movies, which makes it kind of hard to guess...

Now you're just being mean. Clearly we have no idea.

Oklahoma?
nope. Only 48 more states to guess... and even then you won't have the title.

Well catherwood has strongly implied that it was not also a Broadway musical. And those people weren't in Oklahoma.

But it's one of the guys from that era that sorta looked like Frankie...

no.
no.
and well... maybe.
It is a musical, and it does take place in a western territory. (That's a minor hint. Based on a novel with a state name in the title, this adaptation moves the action to... elsewhere.)

Is Frankie Avalon in this movie?
Guns of the Timberland? (this does not really pick up all the clues, but it's a western musical with Frankie Avalon...) Nah. Prolly not.

this is true. my movie was filmed long before Newsies, and takes place in a decade before the Newsies story unfolds. (In a different state, too)
I'll leak a few more verbal hints before I post my other still.

confirming that those would be incorrect guesses.
In another day, I'll post another still with so many "hey, it's that guy!" faces in it, I'll give bonus points for someone naming them all. It'll be a hoot!

I KNOW I've seen this one, bcause I recognize the bearded guy (who just seems so out of place) and the guy behind him. But I can't for the life of me be sure. I was going to go with Oklahoma! or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, but the last clue would seem to rule those out.

nope, neither of those either.
You might consider that, while they are indeed singing, this wasn't necessarily a Broadway musical put on film.

I've no idea what the film is - not Guys and Dolls or My Fair Lady, which exhausts my musical knowledge - rendering this post entirely gratuitous (like many of mine of late).
