Where was Ritual 1?

yellowcard wrote:
I also think that Ritual 2 hasn't happened yet. Cherry St may be the place of power, but I haven't seen any signs of a ritual. This one may have to wait until the next new moon.

I'm thinking that Cherry St. was ritual 1, but I wonder if there is a way to confirm that without going to the site (since Sandra mentioned that there was evidence that the ritual she saw had taken place there).

Surfzoned: Did you ever get a response on your post about someone from the area going to the site? Question Maybe we could get them to go to Cherry St. too and see if there is anything there.

So if ritual 1 was at 1200 Cherry St. (place of power, human combustion Shocked ) and ritual 2 was where Sandra saw it that would put ritual 3 at the end of the short leg of the diagram you drew. I agree that looks like it might be in the water. I wonder if you can perform this over water, especially since the ritual may have to do with controlling fire (human combustion, red hot metal).

Yeah, I'm looking at Google Earth again. The land mass on Streets & Trips appears to be mostly underwater, but perhaps GE's photos are during high tide. The black areas appear to be rocks to me, and the third point looks like it could be in a rocky area. I'd say it's doable on a hard land surface.

I also think that Ritual 2 hasn't happened yet. Cherry St may be the place of power, but I haven't seen any signs of a ritual. This one may have to wait until the next new moon.

Fire?

I decided to try putting the 2:00 figure on the St. Petersburg map to see if we could get our three ritual places that way. I drew a 30-60-90 triangle from the 1200 Cherry St location and then extended the hypotenuse 1.85 miles. (This is 3mi divided by the Golden Ratio, as per the figure.) As you can see from the map, it appears to land on a natural water break or something.

yellowcard, great work, that makes sense.

And the reference to human combustion and fire reminded me of this:

I'm starting to wonder if there are more links to Autumn Country than I've noticed.

Sorry for the double post, but since it's been a few hours and I did some more work I thought you might not mind.

If the second ritual takes place in one of the other two spots, you can bet your sweet bippy where the third will be.

From looking at Google Earth, this new place may be covered with water, though.

Thanks, yellowcard. Very Happy And thanks for checking the distance. How did you get such an accurate measurement?

I have MS Streets and Trips 2006 on my computer. Ctrl+E allows a distance to be measured between any two points. I was also able to zoom in close to get exactly on the right spot. The zoomed places, if you're interested...

I decided to put the points with addresses that Ethan provided on the map. The place where Sandra saw the ritual is in the upper right corner. The point directly to the south of that is the Allamanda Apartments at 1200 Cherry St. The info Ethan sent says "Spontaneous Human Combustion". I haven't been able to get the exact distance yet, but it looks like it is very close to 3 miles. Rock On Gonna see if I can confirm the distance, but wanted to post this right away.

It would've been nice if Ethan provided some dates on those incidents. Forgot to specifically ask for that in my last email, although I did request that we be provided with more details, along with whatever initial speculations Shannon made.

It may be Ritual #2

It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to post an image. That was after more time than I am going to admit to figure out Google Maps. Embarassed Thanks to Wolfhawk and Mortality for the ideas on using Google Maps, that's really cool.

I decided to put the points with addresses that Ethan provided on the map. The place where Sandra saw the ritual is in the upper right corner. The point directly to the south of that is the Allamanda Apartments at 1200 Cherry St. The info Ethan sent says "Spontaneous Human Combustion". More: Looks like it is very close to 3 miles, but still trying to figure out a more accurate way to check. Also found this: http://www.sptimes.com/2002/10/31/TampaBay/Hunt_for_haunts.shtml - looks like they didn't make some of those up. Foily!

Cipher1 aka MSG2

I was just reading a story by Borges and it dawned on me that the words we found in our book code might be a euphemism for a story/book/poem name.
I know it's a stretch but it's always a possibility.

Oh well, I guess I'll just let it peculate.

I'm still peculating on what Ethan said, though the constant flexing of my pectorals doesn't seem to be helping my concentration any!

Group Name

By a tally of 2 votes to 1 , we are...The unCollective.

As for 0702: it looks like we really need Shannon to get back to us about her investigation into the ritual before we can make much more progress. Sandy confirmed the shape of the object but didn't really provide any context to the event. The St. Petersburg events from Ethan's note seem unrelated on face. (I'd like to know more about the giant penguin...can we get Morgan Freeman to narrate?)

Any luck with the 0701 puzzles?

ETA: Ethan emailed to say that Shannon will only be able to investigate the ritual during her leisure hours. Which will be few and far between.

I asked Ethan for some more details about the St. Petersburg events he listed and to see if he could explain Shannon's initial reaction to the ritual; he told us earlier that she "knew what the ritual wasn't."

Our next step is probably to put those events on a map and see if there's some relationship to the spot where Sandra spotted the object. I'll get to that tonight if no one else has.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I didn't reply earlier to the question about the groupname, but I had exams and didn't really have a lot of time. My favourites are unCollective and Amazing unRavelers Group, but it doesn't really matter to me. It seemed like everyone already decided on unCollective anyway, so that's fine with me.

I just received this search result from the Foundation archives. I asked
them to filter on events in St. Petersburg that the Foundation feels are
classified as at least "noteworthy". Haven't had time to cross-ref any
of these, but wanted to get them to you as soon as possible. I'll be
checking these for possible connections tomorrow, but please let me know
if anything looks interesting to you in the interim.

Looking at that pic makes me wonder if the two lines are pointing towards the location of the other two rituals.
