We DID use the answer.zip file to find bullerman.net/videos but we NEVER used the answer.txt file for anything. I find that odd.

I really don't know what to think. Steve can't be dead. I saw him with my own eyes.... hes my friend. I know where he lives...well, i guess lived. What the hell? This is getting really weird. I'm trying not to worry about anything right now. I am in Michigan with my parents. EVERYTHING IS NORMAL RIGHT NOW! Its great! I really appreciate all your help....everybody. I think I just figured it out!
I'm back from Christmas! Nice solve with the /mail code! I tried running it through some online decrypters but no go. Edit: Ok, I was following your idea about it being a URL (the CUT being a /), and thought what if dan has an account on the server (on Linux web servers, example.com/~username automaticly goes the the home directory of the user), so I tried bullerman.net/~hyde, no luck. Then I tried bullerman.net/~dan, and got through! But I got 403 Permission Denied I think that means we just don't have permission to browse the directory, so we might have a clue that points to something in this folder. The folder defently exists, but we just need to find what's in it.

EDIT: Apply the numbers to the obituary starting with first paragrah. That's how you get "dan iowa cut hyde' .. Dan Iowa kinda makes sense.. I wonder if that 2nd part is a false positive... it just doesn't fit...hmm
I thought, perhaps, that 'CUT' may refer to the forward slash in URL, but have had no success so far.

FYI, I've been working on this for a while.. But my work schedule won't allow me to work on it like i have been. I work on the river so I will be gone for 4 weeks starting january 3rd. I sometimes get enough of a signal where I can get online via laptop. but that is rare. so someone will need to keep up with the wiki and someone will need this phone number that I haven't had permission to give out but I don't want it to be lost for a whole month.. I will still be working actively on solving this riddle til that time comes though just something to think about since steve has only been contacting me for some reason..

Its a sweater I bought for my mom from Nordstroms. Its really really out of game. Haha. They just let you track the shipping.

Anyway, if Steve's brother somehow has/had DB's phone, then they must be pretty close in contact. Perhaps they worked together? I'm not sure. Maybe we could find out from Jeff if he knows where Steve's brother works. That could lead us closer to finding out who DB is and why/how he is involved with this whole shebang.
