Yes! Okay so our pseudo-phi circle is now a stack of books. Where does this leave us? Jeff is obviously doing okay, given the circumstances, so are the books just a side-effect from changing the file format to .rar or does it mean something more?

that was a good shot Mojo, very sound logic. What's the odds of a Dan Bullerman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa posting about a camera in a forum at Digital Video Information Network. Looks like our PMs been working on this for awhile. my 2 cents.

This is an old post, and I think I'm way off!

Note that there is "Dan Bullerman" from Cedar Rapids Iowa! Not sure if I'm way off or not? Seems coincidental though. Also he refers to a camera in his Post. ????? Also noted is Jeff Rhodes...

Nice one guys. Way to go. And kudos to the PM. I don't think we've had one like that before.

I knew something was odd about the Help...jpg when I looked at the hex code. But it wouldn't desteg so I gave up on the idea. I got Eugene from the letters last night but was too tired to look into it, and I didn't know how an Eugene was involved in our story. I would have never thought of Roshal, though. I would have had to stumble upon it, via google, like I did with the Euler and the e number. Who needs college when you've got ARGs.

And that explains the circle in the lower right of the image. Look what happens to the Icon when you change the file type to rar.

Rename HELP_eroshal.jpg to HELP_eroshal.rar and open with WinRAR. Now you have a new document inside!

I will find a way to communicate. I promise. I know what Dan wants. He needs me to finish the camera. After not taking the pills for a while I can remember. I remember what this is all about. I have to finish the camera and get out alive. I will try to buy some time. I'm not going to take anymore pills as long as I can get away with it. Going to the cemetery, I had to play dumb. I know who Dan Bullerman is. Don't trust him. Like anticipated, he took me hostage... He is holding me somewhere until I finish the camera. Until then, I stay alive. If you're wondering why I dont just fight...he has me behind some weird system...i cant get out. As for Steve, he really is dead. He was a friend. I believe the camera (s?) have something to do with him being seen. Anybody who was on this project, can be seen. I am just the latest. If I don't succeed, I won't be the last. He will come after you. Play along with his tricks; but don't trust him. He has given me access to a computer. I can get onto his website as admin but somehow everything else is blocked...I have been lucky enough to get on the www twice. Usually dan is around...i cant do much without him looking over my shoulder. I don't know how much he knows about technical details but I am guessing not much. You guys need to know the truth. I dont want to tell you much on here... I will be in contact. Anything weird on his site happens, don't alert him. Please stay in touch. I will need all of your help. ps, cstrife311 is a bot. he wont help much.

Great solve! It makes sense. Eroshal is actually E. Roshal. Haha. Although I don't think I would have recognized the name. So how does this tie in to the weird circle thing? The phi sequence looks really close, but just not exact like the one Jeff showed us. Ugh. I'll keep looking.

EDIT: I had an idea. So if that Roshal guy invented the .rar file format, maybe we are looking for a .rar file on bullerman.net that Jeff posted to help us find him? That would explain why he can't let Bullerman see it.

So far I've tried help.rar (from the JPEG file name), phi.rar, eroshal.rar, etc., but I'll keep looking!

Alright, a slight new development. Huzzah, etc.

On Bullerman.net, I looked at the source, and in it was the word "eroshal.jpg." Visiting http://www.bullerman.net/eroshal.jpg , it's a simple picture:

No idea what it means- just text, as far as I can tell. Anybody know what "reousgheanle" might mean? I've ROTed it with no results; I'm thinking it's another anagram, but I don't see anything meaningful in it. Other than "eroshal" again.

Thoughts?

Holy CRAP. You got to give the PM kudos for knowing what freaks people out and for some kickass photomanip.

A google on "eroshal" gives nothing. At all.

I did some research myself on phi, and seeing this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Fibonacci_spiral.svg) I took it and put a circle around the most circular part of the spiral. I'm not really sure what to say; it looks similar, but it's not quite the same. The dots throw me off too.

Maybe we need to look at the ratios in the circle itself. I really don't know at this point.

(Jesus christ how is this supposed to help us?! THIS is Jeff's final help? A creepy picture with a circle? And why would it be so important to Dan if he found it?)

I was too creeped out by the rest of it to actually notice that symbol. But now that i look at it it looks a LOT like the symbols used for the bionicles movies. Looking around i found a site, and some quick checking said "this is NOT bionicle" unless it's a fusion of more than one character.

Okay, three things.
1: Since I haven't seen Cloverfield yet, I don't know whatthe laggy forum commotion is about.

2: EWW. That picture is freaky.

3: I have seen something similar to that circle before. It illustrates the golden ratio, phi. It's another irrational number, like e and pi. It's something like 1.61. I don't know the significance, but I'll pull up some research ASAP to see if I find anything IG or just remotely useful.

EDIT: Another thing. I'm not sure about those dots. That's not part of phi.
