Wow. Where the hell did that come from? Great idea. Good teamwork to refine the solution, too.

Sending it off to Jade, since it's his eyes we'll be commandeering...unless Slider has a fit of generosity.

Had a breakthrough with that nonsense poem. Sylvia got the bright idea that it needed to be turned into an acronym and then converted to digits, leaving us with lat/long coords. Now, you'll be thankful we undertake thorough peer review before publishing our newsletters, because the original run-through would've demanded that you charter a boat and skipper it out to the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.

You'd go, tho, right?

The "correct" coords: +28° 5' 38.33", -82° 21' 28.70"
Looks to be I-75 just outside of Tampa, just to the NE of the intersection of Yardley Way E and Warenham Dr. E. Don't know if you'll have to dig, or what. We're going to ask Slider for his input. How soon could you get out there/how much turnaround do we have to give you updated notes?

So...let's also fire off an email to Slider asking for his thoughts?

Thanks guys, that really helps. Hey, the Devil's Triangle was nice while it lasted. I sent a new email to Ethan.

Wow did I ever mess up. While your checking on that Devil's Triangle location could you also check on a location in Tampa Florida. See if you get any hits for 28.097398,-82.357971.

Once again Thanks

Sylvia.

Hate to bother you but was wondering if you could look something up for me in the Foundation's records/archives. Would you see if you get any hits on The Bermuda Triangle (Devil's Triangle). It's possible you may get way to many hits so I will narrow it down for you. See if you get anything on this location within the Triangle itself. 27.097397, -72.357971

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks

Sylvia.

Thank you thank you
now to see where that leads us.

The middle of I-75 near Tampa?

Try not to get run over if you gotta go there.

I think you missed a digit.

Philly's Riddle and MSG3

I think I know what Philly is saying in his riddle and perhaps a new avenue for solving MSG3.
Take the Riddle:
Quote:
But Heather, ZERO is growing cold in heaven
Negative Heaven Burns, consuming every God in glorious ashes

here's what I see. BH.0IGCIH, -HB.CEGIGA OR 27.097397, -72.35797
Or what you see below. Yep that's right, it's the Bermuda Triangle. Which also explains the imbuing, which is like charging something. What is the Triangle known for? Some sort of energy. Right?
Hopefully this can get us moving in a new direction away from all that demonic ritual $h17. It's energy people, not demons. The Triangle is also known for odd disappearances and reappearances, the list goes on. Which might explain all this stuff of Jade being in our world, the Autumn Country world, the TINAG world, the TIAG world, etc... Now it finally gets interesting.

(Note: the overlay isn't perfect. but you get the point.)

Now I'm tired. So I'll let you guys do some of the research while I rest. But let's try and change directions with this thing. OK?

Second QS response

After Luke stated that he had mailed QS re Philly's message I thought I'd also contact him just in case. I provided slightly more detail and some spec re Deicide etc

Quote:
Dear QS,

In the spirit of openness, entant cordial, glasnost and all that malarky I thought I'd let you know what we found at the address left by Philly. Apparently, about four months ago, Philly gave a girl called Heather $50 if she would memorise a verse which she should recite if anyone called Slider came calling. The verse is:

But Heather, ZERO
is growing cold
in heaven

Negative

Heaven Burns,
consuming every God
in glorious ashes

Does that mean anything to you? Part of the verse can be traced to a song by a Death Metal band.....was that the kind of thing that Philly was into?

We do believe that their may be a possibility that Philly was involved in trying to summon something (demon?).....doesn't seem the kind of thing that you'd be into so don't know if he would have shared anything with you.

Any help would be greatly appreciated old chap.

Quote:
Yes, dear Paul, so I have recently heard; the news brought to us by your bosom pal, Luke. But your telling of the tale makes oh so much more sense, since you answer the one, true mystery; namely, why would any sane woman do anything so odd for young master Phillip. Because she could use the cash, that's why. This, at least, makes perfect sense to me. I do hope she got it up front, which is not at all the say that Phillip was any sort of welsher. He has many iffy qualities, but in fairness he always is more than generous with his doubloons.

Death metal? Young master Phillip? Good heavens, no. On this point I can be almost certain, since young Phillip's taste (or more appropriately, lack of) in music is a common source of mirth to all who know him. To the young man's credit, he does not care one whit what anyone thinks of ABBA or Neil Diamond, and for that one must give him grudging props. One must also give him a pair of earphones, because one would not ever, ever want to hear that type of...auditory swill. No, I think the death metal connexion is unlikely.

Of course, it is very likely young Phillip was interested in summoning something, but certainly not anything so, what shall we say, "archetypal" as a demon. You are correct, it is not in his nature to hurl specifics (as you no doubt see) at anyone, but his veiled ramblings have given one at least an impressionistic picture of the lad's hobbies, and a summoning would not be a surprise. In dear Phillip's own case, an imbuing might be more likely the thing, though.

As I said to Luke, and I meant it, I wish I had more to offer. Although I am now more curious than I was, the little ditty means nothing to me. But that does not mean that it means nothing in fact. I can almost guarantee that it means something, and that, when understood, that something will cause someone to be annoyed with the lad. It's simply his nature, I fear.

QS

I also wrote the verse exactly as Jade had on his notebook, just in case it had any relevance

Luke, congratulations on being the second person Slider decided to communicate with, at all, regardless of opacity.

Badaim did not tell him our real interest in Philly. Badaim said that he and some likeminded individuals, not really a group, were interested in the occult, caught wind of a rumor of "rituals," tracked those rituals down in time to actually witness the final one where he saw Philly collapse and get carted off. Badaim gave Slider two motives to choose from: curiousity about the nature of the ritual and concern over someone maybe being hurt or in danger. Slider was willing to concede that even if we aren't practitioners, academic interest would be sufficient reason for him to help.

Badaim deliberately did not mention any of the Open Cases documents or Whitechapel. In one of his recent emails I posted above, Ethan said he sees no harm in letting Slider know about the documents, but thanked us for keeping WF out of it.

Maybe we can make the 0702 cipher fit the "rumor" story we gave him earlier. Maybe call it some of the evidence someone gave us or we found that verified the existence of the ritual. We could probably say someone handed us the 0701 stuff because they thought we'd be interested, given what we were asking about.

Given his claimed ignorance of the meaning of the poem, maybe we should feed him the info about the band Deicide and their song When Heaven Burns. Since they are from neighboring Tampa, it's at least worth asking whether Philly was interested in them. badaim, you ass Razz

My Dear Luke,

But how on earth is the lovely Laura? (Ah, but I date myself) (guffaw)

Gracious me, am I to be treated to an impromptu block party? Will all the beautiful people be bringing those tiny little kegs to my butler's pantry door? Please give me a moment whilst I phone up dear friend Colin Cowie and demand that he begin making arrangements.

But on to more pressing, and certainly more annoying, business. Didn't I tell you? Well, not you Luke, actually, but didn't I say young Phillip likes his little puzzles. As you so astutely point out, it appears this was meant for me. I hope that you and yours can at least take comfort in knowing that young master Phillip is not directing this silliness to you. I begin to think that maybe, just maybe, young Phillip was ever so slightly more aware of the world than we've given him credit for. Actually, I suppose not, since one must assume that he had some thought, at least, that I would attempt to unravel his riddle in the first place, which I would not have done.

But you, or one of your tribe, IS trying to unravel it, aren't you? And here we have one mystery slamming head first into another. And I fear that I must confess that I have no inkling what that rot is supposed to mean. All I can say is that it is chock full o' young Phillip's favorite symbols, and that, at least, makes perfect sense. But I'm sure you already picked up on that, so I shalln't bore you.

The only other thing that I can make an educated guess about is that the damsel you mention below was likely named Heather. Oft have we seen young Phillip attempt to beguile the fairer sex with personalized nonsense. To the fairer sex's eternal credit, never have I seen the lad get anywhere with this tripe.

I do wish I could be of more use to you, because at this point one does begin to wonder just what the young master is up to. I suppose this was the rascal's intent, blast him. (grin)

QS

So we know he watches soaps. I'm just glad he stayed away from the Star Wars joke. It also looks like he still has no idea why we're interested in Philly. Has no one told him yet? I could be way off base here, but I think he knows more about this particular one than he's saying, and if we explain our motives, more information might come out of him. As I've said, no need to bring Whitechapel into it. We can mention Scarpelli without dragging their names in; in fact, we can leave the Scarpelli name out of it as well.

What I sent Jade:

Quote:
Hey Jade,

Oo, I'm famous! Smile Okay, maybe not, but thanks for the shout-out just the same. Y'know it's funny, the last time I was at IKEA I saw they had added a cafe, and I almost got coffee but didn't. Now to figure out which corner of my place is just crying out for a little piece of cheap Swedish something to justify the hassle of going...

As to RN, I'm not sure I know what you mean by disinformation. Do you think they're just making stuff up? I have no idea why they'd be targeting us specifically, and for that matter I guess it's possible we're not the only minds they're messing with. Feh. :/

His reply:

Quote:
Yo, where you at, lady! (Of course, this is an assumption on my part. I realize that you could be a 19 year old guy who hates coffee in real life, but I choose to go with the persona Wink )

I should probably qualify; I love their coffee, but it may be only because it reminds me very much of the go-juice I get in Finland. Happy thoughts, you know. But I'll stand by it at least being passable to a real connoisseur.

Oh, I think they are targeting us, or at least me, specifically. I'm hoping they are merry pranksters, because if they aren't they are the all out stupidest goofballs I've run into in a long time.

Does this look familiar: http://autumncountry.deviantart.com/art/Raadella-29174823

It's from one of my own websites, the purpose of which is to promote my friend David's Autumn Country stories. Autumn Country is a frame world in which David has written a bunch of stories that are patently fictional (I know this because I have had a hand in helping to create some of them).

I have to tell you, Petunia Aye Aye, I cannot for the life of me figure out what these cats are up to. They have to have made up that story on their "thelist" page. But it is obviously based on a snippet from Autumn Country. I know you and your crew are usually into games. Do you think it's possible that this whole RN thing is just a different game that is ripping off Dave's stuff? Could they be trying to draw you guys into a game or story that they are producing? But they'd have to assume that I would see this stuff, which means they are totally bonkers, right?

It's just bizarre.

Since they obviously got Raadella from me, I wanted to ask you if anyone in your group has something going on with the Cowboy Junkies. Great band and all, but I checked with Dave and there is no reference to it in AC. I was thinking maybe that is a reference to one of you guys.

It's a good thing I dig it when crazy stuff happens, otherwise I think I'd be a little pissed off. Very Happy

More soon,
Jade
