Good, good point. The cemetry was the first place the Odd Fellows association even showed up... and windup first mentioned the REM song where the 'washing off the blood, washing off the rum' lyrics come from...

But I'm still leaning toward 1407 Oakhurst myself, just because of the 'beginning' thing, so. Hm. Maybe worth a shot sending that to TT's address? Hey, I still have 'portal.jpg' on my hard drive, too!

Seems Rage is taking after your example, Schwinn. :B Reads: 'As Paul Harvey would say, "And now...Page Seven."'

So I only have direct tweets being sent to my phone right now. I was woken up by the sound of my phone buzzing this morning and blearily saw this:

Quote:
klokworkalex: Don't tell me that after all this they got you!

To which I kinda went, 'huh wha' and just collapsed back in bed. It took about an hour in sleepland to process that, because an hour later, I shot back up in bed fast enough to scare my cat and shouted, 'WHAT!'

Got outta the house, found some internets, and saw that Port sent me this last night:

Quote:
klokworkalex: I'm safe. Your "Ernie" is a frickin' GENIUS! So much to tell you but can't use e-mail right now...it's YOUR account they're watching.

YAY. And not yay. I should've figured.

Schwinn: Haha, nice! That is better than what we had before. Well, I'm gonna put my two cents down on either the Curran or 1407 Oakhurst Ave, though I have no reasoning behind my own answers yet other than that they are the beginning to both the game and the story, respectively.

Yesterday I tweeted....

(about 22 hours ago from web)

Which is, (if you didn't know ) Base64 for...

But what is the question?

Just testing to see if the PMs are paying attention. (Which they are)

Arlen Direct messaged me...
Quote:
It's a place, my friend. A place from your past. The end can only be understood by looking back to the beginning.

This could mean a couple different things
1) The beginning of the game: in San Francisco at the Curran theater.

2) Ports blog (but that's not a place) maybe the hotel where Jenny was killed.

3) Brickers place in OK (which technically is the beginning of the story)

I can keep going but you get the idea. Thoughts?

noooo we need you schwinn );
I'm still waiting for the connection to be drawn between Black Beauty and the Oracle or something. HOPEFULLY, as long as the Sarge doesn't get duped first by a spook undercover or Port doesn't get assassinated while standing out on the sidewalk or something, we'll figure that part out now.

Jeez. In the meantime, I'll watch my email for Port's reply. And then try to figure out wtf Rage is smoking while tweeting (so I may join him, perhaps?!).

Man, this is just going all pear shaped! I am about ready to toss in the towel. I don't know what to do, Ports hiding in Denver, Sgt Ernie is a useless d!ck, Rage is tweeting some Crazy Shiznit.

C,
I was just sitting here playing a stupid shopping cart game on the computer (had to see if I was the INSTANT WINNER they talk about on the Totino's frozen pizza box) and your e-mail popped up. What in the hell are you talking about with me asking you not to contact me? Although you and your goddam cohorts are starting to bug the crap outta me with your personal drama, I much prefer your guys e-mails to the Cialis and African bank ones!!! OK. Against my better judgement I'm willing to meet your little jackrabbit. So long as he don't mind cigarette smoke, Spam and Roger my yorkie, we MAY have a deal. And if he's not an asshole. Have him to stand near the Grilled Skewer on Wadsworth in Arvada with a six-pack of Keystone Light in a paper bag in one hour and I'll do the rest.

---Ernie

OKAY, WAT? Who the hell sent me that email, then?! Damn. Someone's watching his email (someone who also knows my first name and that I am female, too, as I have not used either in reference to myself with Ernie).

But, well. Forwarding this to Port, so hey. Hope this works.

Heh, tbh, I don't even know what question we're trying to answer. Figuring that out might help, actually.

Also, in which Port has a ridiculous taste in cars:
Quote:
Courtney,

It's amazing how a good night's sleep can make a totally shitty situation seem just as shitty.

Good thinking but I actually ditched the car yesterday and this morning I bought an old powder-blue Volkswagen bus. The owner was this hippy retread who painted the logo from Lost's Dharma Initiative on the front. All I need now is a frickin' grey jumpsuit and I'm set!

So I'm short on time as there are a bunch of kids from the high school milling around me trying to get onto one of the library computers to update their stupid MySpace pages or whatever. I hate typing with people peeking over my shoulder.

Again, thanks for being there and I'll keep checking back to see how your Plan C is coming along. I have enough cash to stay in limbo for about two weeks.

Port

I asked him, flat out for the second time, if Bernie had mentioned exactly where he was going. And he didn't say anything about it. So I'll assume 'no'.

Just throwing this out there, but couldnt the answer for TT be Firehouse? I have nothing to back up that assumption, other than thats what i get when i read the oddfellows local 151,

Okay, so. That's awesome. A King in Denver with no cover and no where to go. If we can't get him somewhere to hide for a while, we gotta figure out where the hell Bernie was taking him, fast. Lest we have him room with Rage until then.

Which... no.

Attached was the end of my email exchange with the Sarge before he went all OH HELL NO on me, right after I had convinced him to at least meet with Port. I have no bloody clue what I said to him that pissed him off, so if it's any use to you guys, take it. I'm gonna try our case once more myself, but I don't know what good that will do! Stubborn dude.

Well, I sent a message to sarge asking for help in hiding Port. I went the scared and panicky rout in hope that he might feel like he should help. I tried to drop in some buzz words that might make sarge realize his info that he is holding on to so tightly is related to our problems. Sarge,
Its Schwinn. Bad sh!t is happening! We need your help. Please we don't have anyone to turn too except maybe you. You have some expertise in dealing with "company" problems I'm sure. We need a safe house and we need one fast! Our friend is on the run and he has bad guys on his tail. I have no fear that he can handle himself if he has to, but this is going beyond police work in Jersey. The company is trying to stop him from getting to Brightman to see the Oracle and it is extremely import that he does. His chaperon/escort took one in the back of the head and is no longer with us. Our man got away but he is on the move and needs a place to lay low. Can you help us? Please? We believe that the information you have and what is happening to our friend is all connected somehow Please, Dr. Starr is gone and we have no one to turn too.

Schwinn

So now we wait...

Weeeell We could have a problem...

Jesus H. Christ you guys and your goddam gobbly-gook e-mails are gonna drive me nuttier than a shithouse rat!!! None of this current drama concerns me and I swear to god if you lead some goddam jackrabbit to my door I'll put one in his head myself!!! I don't run a goddam safehouse and never said I did. They told me you would be reporters who'd want my story and that's all I'm gonna give.

Oddfellows local 151 behind the firehouse
Where Peewee sits to prove a sage to teach
Peewee gathered up his proof
Reached up and scratched his head
Fell down and hit the ground again

(chorus)
Firehouse, firehouse

Why do the heathens rage behind the firehouse
Where Peewee sits upon the wall to preach
This boy and girl that gather pearls
Of wisdom falling from his mouth
Wash off the blood, wash off the rum

(repeat chorus)

Oddfellows local 151 behind the firehouse
Where Peewee sits upon the wall to preach
This boy and girl that gather pearls
Of wisdom falling from his mouth
Wash off the blood, wash off the 151

(repeat chorus 2x)

Firehouse

I have trying to figure it out myself, but so far I got nothing.

Weird, weird shit over there. I don't doubt that it's connected to the stuff Port is going through, though.
Speaking of which: email from Port! He's using a new address now.

Court,

I'm in Denver and don't think I was followed. What an absolute shit two days. All the way from North Platte I kept seeing this black Yukon about a mile back. But on I-80 everyone drives forever so it's not too uncommon to see the same people for hours, you know? But it was just always the same distance back, which is what made me nervous. So we had to stop for gas and Bernie picked Laramie, Wyoming. Some podunk looking Phillips 66. So as he's filling up the Malibu, I stretch and go in to the little convenience store to get a couple of those bottled Frappaccinos (Starr got me hooked on those) and as I'm standing at the counter that black Yukon drives up, circles the parking lot slowly, and then pulls up right next to Bernie. He was stretching his back when it happened -- just totally unaware. He had one hand on each hip and was twisting side to side when a good chunk of his head just exploded all over the hood of the rental car and then he disappeared behind the car. It was then that I caught a glimpse of a guy with a dark tie and sunglasses looking at me just before the tinted window closed. I started yelling at the old Mexican guy behind the counter that my friend had just been shot and to call the police and do you knwo what he did? He ran out the back door and the next thing I know I see this old pickup truck speed off from behind the store and skid off into Laramie. I guess the nice thing is that the Yukon took off after the pickup like they figured it was me. So I reached over the counter and dialed 9-1-1 and when I try to tell the dumbass dispatcher that Bernie had just been killed she says that she has to connect me with her boss. What the hell, right? So after a few seconds this guy comes on the line sounding like that black guy with the deep voice that used to do the 7up commercials and says, "Is this Mr. King?" My heart was in my throat and I couldn't even respond -- I had never told the dispatcher who I was and I was using the store's landline. He proceeds to tell me that I'll never get out of the gas station and I just hung up on him and ran out to the car. The tank was now full.

Odd things stick in your head when you see dead people. It could be how their eyes looked, or how a leg was bent...it's always something that stays with you. For Bernie it was that he was lying face down on the concrete with both hands still on his hips. He just did a faceplant mid-stretch and looked like if you propped him back up on his feet he'd look just like he was still stretching his back...only missing a good portion of his forehead. That whole situation was fucked up.

I sped out of there in the opposite direction and after a quick car wash I stopped at a diner about 30 minutes away. I haven't seen the Yukon since.

I found a place in Denver that likes cash more than they need ID to rent a room and now I'm just going to wait until I hear from you where to go and what to do. I never thought when we started communicating that all of this would happen and that I'd have to trust you like I am. I really really hope that going with my gut is the right thing.

As for Bernie, great guy. A bit of a cad about women I noticed, liked to share "war stories". But other than that just a genuine guy. He told me all about meeting the oracle for the first time and setting up the whole program at the Brightman...and how he ultimately got sidelined. I think we touched on this already, but he told me she had asked for him to find me because I knew who the "grim reaper" was. Rage, right? Said she thought that it would be important for her to talk to this "grim reaper" because of some phantom creeping around the place where she stays. That part lost me a bit...but after these last two months I have to be honest, I believe every fucking word that comes out of every person's mouth! I just don't doubt shit anymore because who am I to know and all of my past preconceptions have been bent and broken and left on roadsides from Washington DC to Colorado.

I definitely need to go to sleep and there's this girl that looks frighteningly like Velma from Scooby Doo waiting to use the computer. I can't thank you enough and please don't kill me. I would be really disappointed.

Goodnight.

Port

Bold is mine. So the Oracle's got her own "Jenny" following her around, huh?

Also, in response to the 'washing off the blood, washing off the rum ?' thing:
Quote:

I'd like to say it's Oddfellows Local 151, but somehow, that answer seems way too easy.

To: <classical>
There's a reason that it seems way too easy.

Strike one.

Figured as such. But seriously, wat. IT'S NOT EVEN A QUESTION. I have been racking my brains for an "answer" all night and got nothing. Nothing at all.
