Tell ne, is it common CIA practice to badly mimmick the argot of various subcultures? I also want to know why you're more threatened by my speculation that the actual puzzple solving antics of the rest of the brood.
Surely you would be more concerned about stopping their progress than halting my 'gospel'.
bolded naq is what is displayed when the string is put into this post. the string is:
naq jr zvzvp phm jr ybir, lb!!
this translates to "and we mimic cuz we love, yo!!" in rot-13.

1) why has my email address been altered to a string that resembles rot-13?
2) there's a reason i came back, and it's definitely wasn't for the meta. sometimes i wonder if the PM just needs a sounding board.
clearly i should have decrypted the string before my response so i could play on it. doesn't matter, i think the question itself should pull a response.

I just found Wulf's wikidot online; haven't seen the CIA RMPs before (clearly Risk Management Profiles).
Anyways, I found this amusing;
Quote:
That the forum participants are easily distracted, fearful, and can be quickly dispersed by inconsistencies or disregard for "community" expectations.
I found this interesting:
Quote:
Promotion of confusion and unease by degrading individual trust and connecting the participants to known questionable, non-credible and untrustworthy data sources.
Quote:
Promotion of paranoia by gathering personal data on participants and presenting it back to them anonymously with no reassurances.
Quote:
Obtain access to associated internet and communication resources utilized by the unauthorized network and use them to distribute contradictory and/or incorrect information.
Quote:
Promote discord among identified network participants.
and especially this:
Quote:
Proactively prepare a press release and Director's Statement disavowing any knowledge of released confidential information and covertly criticizing the involved participants and online forum locations to promote general disbelief and to instigate the perception that said participants and forum members are extreme, have a tendency towards flights of fancy, exhibit general paranoia and are not aligned with the sensibilities of "average Americans".

Oh come on, dude!! Only the PMs have this email? I got it by hacking the tvonfantine account....it was easy to connect those dots, frankly I'm suprised that none of you did it a long time ago!! And it's a really whopping stretch to assume (ass+u+me) there's even is a PM swimming around in this afterbirth. Oooh wait I'm kinda painted into a corner here....the more I say the more you think that I'm doing the old look at the turd in my right hand while my left hand steals your watch routine. OK. Suffise to say I'm feeling you on this shiznit and believe that your assesment of this dirt clod will end up proven correct. I'd disappear again if I was you!!

The "E-Mail" button right under my name sends to the "E-Mail" account that I signed up on the forums with.
The "E-Mail" address which the PM corresponds with me is my personal account. They are different.

[speculation]
Ok - couple of things, mostly speculation. Yesterday classical and I had quite the chat in iRC about the cubits, the map, and whatnot.
Given the background of the story so far, and the 'map' we've been provided, I'm more and more convinced that what we have is a map of part of Solomon's Temple. Specifically Herod's Temple - the layout seems to match pretty closely what I've been able to find so far. I haven't been able to find an exact copy of the map we've been given - but it would make sense. Here you can find some of the dimensions for Herod's Temple.
The "eye" on the map, I interpreted to mean the Oracle. The all-seeing eye is also a part of Masonic symbology (it's on the back of the $1 bill...).
To be clear, I'm not certain that we're dealing with a duplication of either Herod's or Solomon's Temple in the Brightman Institute, but it would make sense. I'm also hoping, that with Port being a former Mason - this might make more sense to him somehow.
Secondly, in Hatch's email to classical it stated very clearly that we need to be familiar with everything we've come across so far. One thing that's been bugging me, has been the package I got quite awhile ago. So far - it hasn't seemed to represent much more than just meta. I did try breaking down the measurements we were giving, to see if it corresponds to anything in the book, but it's a rather short book and only goes up to page 62 or so. But it has to factor in somewhere.
Blackandblue had a great assessment of Rage I think. He's been angry as a result of being unable to resist Ari when she first came to him. He's a control freak. With Ari - it's the one point in his life where he hasn't been in control and he was simply unable to deal with it. So instead he worked around it and blamed everyone else (see: dead heroin dealers). But recently he's been coming to terms with who he is, and his culpability in all of it. The email I received from him shows the remorse, and even moreso the possibility of accepting his responsibility with Jenny, and doing, I believe, whatever is going to be necessary to get a chance to apologize to Jenny, and ask for her forgiveness. I don't think (not sure who brought this up) that Rage is going to try and push himself on his daughter, nor do I think there is any possibility that Jenny will even be used/thought of that way - by anyone. I think that quite possibly you could consider Ari as "Jenny 1.0" - the failed version. Where sexuality/sensuality was over-used. Whereas Jenny is the perfect combination of personality/looks/parentage etc, to create one ready to wear the mantle of "Oracle".
I don't think I can see Rage as a "tool" right now, any moreso than Port. He's still very much a thinking, semi-rational person - who has shown his ability to react emotionally. Which makes him an unknown at this point. But I think that we can trust him.
I had a few other epiphany's this morning - but I can't remember what they were at the moment.
Also, just so there's no confusion, I'm not directly disagreeing with anyone here, just offering my own opinion.
[/speculation][/soapbox]

Oh yeah, and since I'll be in PA this coming Monday, maybe I'll go look Hatch up...

i think the PM got frustrated with me. he wrote me long emails trying to coerce me into dialogue that he must have missed.
i was receptive but waiting for a trigger. wasn't about to write him a novel based on conjecture.

Black - it wasn't from a player. It couldn't have been. My email addy is in the posession of only the PM. The writing style was distinct, too.
The question is not who, but why?
It was in response to my post about the absence of a game and ad libbing the ending, that much is certain.

It was in that email to Syn, I think--the guy named Darren was second-in-command of the Watchers. And somewhere along the line, Darren was apparently indirectly responsible for Ari's death via heroin overdose. Lesse if I can find it...
Here we go:
Quote:
I killed them all because they pissed me off and because I know that they were involved in the death of my sister, Ari. For the past two months it has been my pastime to travel up the San Francisco heroin supply foodchain, exacting payment from those implicit in her overdose and obtaining the next name on the ladder. The last name, a DEA field supervisor working out of New Mexico, was the brother-in-law of Darren Aronsky, second-in-command of the Watchers. Too much of a coincidence for me to overlook.
So while I don't know if Darren actually had anything to do with Ari's death (he may have just been implicated through family relations and is otherwise 'innocent'), I think Rage just kinda... snapped. But as he also mentions in said email, Rage had been losing control over the situation ever since it started. All his previous killings had been at least premeditated and thought-out... this was lashing out in frustration, upset, and fear. And it all finally got the better of him.
Anyway, I still think he's being ridiculously whiny. I miss our manly mystery man! Like come on, cheer up, emo kid. You got a job to do.
At least his monologues aren't getting any shorter, though. :B

At least that's good news!
Thank you for correcting my assumption classi. That is very good news, since at least Jenny should be safe with Rage, and not accidentally push buttons that would put her in danger.
My only confusion is now that we are finding out what makes Arlen Rage tick, why did Rage felt the need to slaughter Holly's group?

Re: Sort of Tempest
BlackandBlue: Totally agreed, except for one point:
BlackandBlue wrote:
That could be a horrible thing for Jenny, since we already know from Port that Jenny's sexuality is much like AR's sister's. Jenny can seduce a guy by merely existing, just like AR's sister did.
Port stated that the love he felt for Jenny was specifically non-sexual. It was a protective love, not a sexual one. I can even pinpoint a sentence in the first piece of the manuscript that says that. I remember it saying that it made him feel slightly off, since 'he'd always equated love with sex' or something to that effect.
But! My guess is that Jenny's aura probably at least felt similar to Ari's to Rage, though not exactly. Which probably prevented him from taking her soul in the first place.

klokworkalex: Questions? How about what is that?
clas1ca: Your key to the Brightman. Might not make much sense now, but there may be clarity once you see the place. Unless it's still missing pieces.
...
Oh goddamnit, Port. You are so totally helpless sometimes. >_> I've only been talking about the map for the past week! Jeez.
