Could be. I found she did turn Tithonus into a grasshopper because he grew old. Sounds like a lovely person.
I e-mailed suggesting "Sol and Luna". According, to wikipeida, Sol and Luna are the sibling of Aurora, and I guess you could say the Dawn sorta kills the night, and its before the sun comes up. Not heard back yet tho.

I got a response saying both were wrong... looking for more poems.
Edit--She with gold is considered to be Aurora, or the Goddess of Dawn. If Dawn rises, then what two other Gods or Goddesses fall? God of Dusk?
Aurora/Eos had two lovers that died. Orion and Tithonus. That's all I found. I want to make sure this time before I send another email...

I found another poem:
Quote:
To The Princess Lucretia
Thy unripe youth seemed like the purple rose
That to the warm ray opens not its breast,
But, hiding still within its mossy vest,
Dares not its virgin beauties to disclose;
Or like Aurora, when the heavem first glows,--
For likeness from above will suit thee best,--
When she with gold kindles each mountain crest,
And o'er the plain her pearly mantle throws.
No loss from time thy riper age receives,
Nor can young beauty decked with art's display
Rival the native graces of thy form:
Thus lovelier is the flower whose full-blown leaves
Perfume the air, and more than orient ray
The sun's meridian glories blaze and warm
From the Italian of Torquato Tasso
And this one too:
Quote:
SAPPHO AND PHAON
The awful flames from subterranean glooms
Leap up and out and, flaring fearfully,
Shock with red horror the repose of night.
And even then, aware how base he was,
He stopp d his ears to that insidious call,
And strove to let the beauty of the dusk
Win him to chasteness. But a passion chill d
Bleak as the moon is, which terrific suns
Warm not, nor waken; and his love was dead,
And soon that wicket open d to his touch.
SWIFT-WING D is news that brings unhap-
piness.
That very day a crone, a broken thing
Whom hate had aged and malice so deform d
That none could deem her woman, hobbled up
And call d for Sappho. She, with gold in
hand,
Bade Nepthys lead her to the portico
And bring her cakes and honey, fruit and milk,
A staff to walk with ; but the crone, when come,
So froze her welling kindness with an eye
Spared by the years, that Sappho shrank from
her
As from a horror. When the tale was told,
The crack d lips mumbling over Phaon s fall
As though it were a very pleasantry,
She gave her gold and bade the bent thing go

Well noticed that man! Well at least we know what's happened to Howard, and that we're not likely to hear from him again I imagine.
As for the poem...
Quote:
When Autumn is balanced and the sun leaves the trees
The ladies underneath sign their names off in threes
One who is crowned in gold and horn
Meets another who bore he crown-ed in thorn
Young salmon dance in the river strong
Dee's churchyard: the arch: at horzion long...
Howard.
Well, the second woman referred to is clearly the Mary the church is named after, so would the first one be Mary Magdelen? Was she crowned in gold and horn? I know basically nothing about the new testament. (Call on me if any Jew knowledge is needed tho lol)

We have to figure out that thing about 'she with gold' to learn it. Any ideas?

I hope Howard responds soon. I didn't use code for my last message. Maybe that will jolt whoever is monitoring him.
It seems Howard Fair has set up an auto message as a way to get help in case anyone kills him or otherwise. Since he didn't enter the password, the bad news got through. I wonder what he recorded.

It probably has something to do with the poem from before:
Quote:
When Autumn is balanced and the sun leaves the trees

One who is crowned in gold and horn
Meets another who bore he crown-ed in thorn
Young salmon dance in the river strong
Dee's churchyard: the arch: at horzion long...
Howard.
It doesn't look very clear though, but there is a 'she with gold'. There was a possible fae reference before ('make sure not to bring any metal, coins, or keys '), and 'fae gold' is actually a color (which would make sense because we have that Munsell thing), but it doesn't really look plausible.

all relatively straightforward until the last one. no idea about that. "she with gold" didn't return anything useful from google :/
edit: also, felt it would be a bit cold to not mention that it appears something rather major's happened to Howard. Bad times. Guess that means he won't be appearing on chat for the forseeable future.
Did a little digging around. Richard Francis Burton is buried at St Mary's in Mortlake, so maybe he's one of the two? Nothing on his wiki page had anything to do with gold tho, and he died of a heart attack
edit 2: @punxtr, if Howard hasn't responded, I'm guessing it's coz this thing's happened to him!

There is a twitter account for this: http://twitter.com/#!/arg_deaddrop, but it's not very alive. Somebody with a twitter account might give it a try.

Don't feel bad Jeho, in your position don't think I'd go either.
There was talk of making up a "Dead drop list" awhile back of people here listing their locations and volunteering to aid in dead drops in their area. Wonder if that came about?
Failing that maybe a lurker here may make the meet and post their discoveries here as a guest?

Hmm, so we did get the right location. But, like I said, with no-one else coming, I think I'm gonna play it safe and let Howard know I won't be going. Sorry guys and gals, but I'd rather not risk it as it stands (normally I might have risked going alone, but currently on a crutch so more caution levels are higher than they usually are). Hopefully the PM'll understand.
