Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

What can we put together about Humpty Dumpty that could be the password? (edit:no pun intended)

Good morning! (I'm also in Cherrytree's timezone)

There's yet another new file in L3. Another corrupted set of meeting notes apparently.

Well look at what happens when I fall asleep. That'll teach me.

Anyways while messing around for a password I remembered another pattern with the password. The password has always been 3 words long on every level. Just thought I might tell you guys.

The Strange Taco
Hey guys, I've been following the FAILTECH Mystery for a bit and finally found this fourm, I'm currently working hard on audio processing that new audio file that popped up in the L3 directory. This is my first ARG and I'm looking forward to working with you all!

Edit: I'm fairly good at Audio processing, so if there's ever a task that needs that, I should be able to do fairly well at it, since I definitely don't have a PhD in the subject, I encourage others to try at it along side me. I've barely scratched the surface on the new audio file, but I'm definitely getting somewhere.

A new file! Forget what it's called as it's down the bottom on L3.

Apparently the password has something to do with Humpty Dumpty...

<<Yes>>Why would the logins get reset?

<<Yes>>Ok so give me the level 4 default since I need to get a file.

Looks like Whispher can only be used to communicate one-way at the moment as Genus has the sender - but he maybe able to send messages out using it somehow.

GoC, ask Daniel if we can we use Whispher to communicate with Genus. Seems like that would be a good way. And tell him about the audio file that recently got uploaded.

OK, I have located Genus Orein in the explosive testing bay, after telling Daniel about the blast doors.

Quote:
Aha! He's most probably inside the Explosives Testing Bay. There's a secret blast door override level at the far end of the bay. Of course it's not a secret if you are Explosive Testing Bay staff, something Genus is not. So I don't think he'll know that. If only there was a way to tell him that. The explosives testing bay is only 4 levels below the surface so he can open the facility from inside for us. That is if he can get out, or if he's still alive.

I feel very sorry for him being trapped down there with no food or water.

So... we need to find a way to contact him?

The mention of replacing mobile phones is interesting since apparently .amr format is often used in mobile phones for voice recording.

I messed around a little with that file but didn't get anything. I have zero experience playing with audio though, so someone who knows what they're doing could probably get something. all I managed to do was clean it up enough to hear in the first few seconds the voice saying "my name is--" something. Hopefully someone with better skills than me can take a crack.

Also, more information on Project Whispher (note the extra 'h').

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
No problem. I do agree that we have to exhaust every possible way before brute-forcing in.

If it helps, Project Whispher, or also called as WhispherTalk to make it sound pretty for investors, was initially planned to be a replacement for mobile phones as it allows instantaneous communication between two or more people without having the need to have the bulky phones, way back when they still were. However, upon further evaluation of the Investment Department and the Consumer Products Division, Project Whispher (with the H after the p, I don't even know why) was shelved indefinitely. However, Genus insisted it has a future and we tried to find investors but no one was interested for it at the time.

Due to Genus' persistent request, Project Whispher was then handed over to him and his newly established Space Communications Research as he says it has use for future space communications. However, due to the protest of our Investment Department and Consumer Products Division, we had to lock away the research for Project Whispher here in the Antarctic Facility as we have just established this facility and was capable of holding off any danger the Project Whispher may bring.

A few years later, the Antarctic Facility was expanded and several of our dangerous experiments were moved here (most of which are not listed below the Level 7 sections of our database) This action also prompted a reform in the company and then resulted in a fragmented company that mostly operates independently from each other not knowing what exactly happening to the other. The higher administrative people were able to stabilize this fragmentation and allowed a seamless link between each department. However, each department still mostly operates independently from each other most of the time It's like as if they are just partner companies instead of the fact that they are under the same company.

This then resulted in the need to tighten company security and establish High Level Security Protocols, such as Protocol 6. And other reforms in the lower end of the company, such as the denial of the existence of Security Levels beyond Level 6 and setting the location of the facilities as a secret.

A LOT of information from Daniel this time, including a little more about 'project whisper' - all very interesting...

Quote:
As of now, there is no other way to communicate with LAINSY, however, if one can have physical access to her security mainframe, which is the one in this facility, you can pull some plugs and reset her security status without compromising the rest of her systems. Now that I came to think of it, if Genus was able to access her physically, he should have done it already. So he must have been somewhere down there where he doesn't have access to LAINSY.

Regarding your concern about Genus, if it help then I'll tell a bit about him. Genus, or Genus Orein, is in fact one of the first of FAILTECH's staff, way back when FAILTECH wasn't FAILTECH. It's a pre-1990's time where FAILTECH was used to be called Advanced Science Research Group. It was mainly composed of me, Fred, and Claire in the administrative staff. Genus was amongst the fresh graduates who had the guts to apply to us.

We weren't really big back then. Genus then later became one of our closest friends with Fred and Claire. Genus was also our top scientist who was able to open up some business opportunities for the group. Then in 1990, a year after Fred married Claire, FAILTECH was born a company that is dedicated to scientific research and development.

As the company grew, Genus was offered to be a part of the Board of Directors since he had a big contribution to the company, but he refused to take part in the highest ranks. He said he would rather have a position in the R&D so that he can put his skills into practice.

Right now he is the head of the Space Communications Research due to his high contributions in the whispher technology. However, this technology was highly unstable and no investor was willing to invest to it. We tried a couple of closed public demo, but it was not well received as well. SO we pushed it back and he established the SCR department and became the head. He theorizes that the whisper technology can be used for long range communication as it has something to do with quantum physics, something I do not fully understand. Because he believes he can make this successful, we entrusted him the entire department, however, we required him to perform the experiments here in the Antarctic Facility way back when this facility was new and shiny.

Due to the some speedy advancements in our R&D we now have several technologies that are making our products and services the de facto standard in quality, something other companies envy us. However, a long of speculations has come in and out about how fast our R&D can pump out technologies. But we have all denied them.

So yes, Genus plays a big role since the start of this company and he is a valuable asset for the company and a good friend of mine. And that is why I am really having second thoughts of brute-forcing our way in. In case you haven't picked up on what I mean by brute-force, I do mean setting of a mini-nuke at the top of the facility to open up passage. However, due to nature of where the facility is located, doing this may cause a minor earthquake and disturb the stability of the facility and get anyone such as Genus killed.

I am still wondering why Fred has no input on this. Right now, I am still waiting for the other BODs so that we can setup a meeting for this.

Been following this, haven't really had time (or knowledge) to contribute... but it looks like a file was added to the L3 directory that nobody's mentioned yet....

notegg.amr ? it's some sort of an audio file that... sounds like a HEAVILY distorted or damaged track of a man talking. I can't make out anything that's been said, and I'm useless with any sort of audio editing program. Just thought I'd point that out so an expert can have a listen...

Getting kind of hard to know who to trust. Guess we will just have to cover all the bases and help both sides. Wink I wonder who or what Genus really is if Failtech claims to be able to make science fiction into reality. What kind of strange things could they be creating in there?

I told him how Genus was contacting us.

Quote:
Ah that's right! If he can access the life support terminal, it means he should be able to detect our presence because we're attempting an override with the life support to trigger some emergency code in the life support system. However, there seems to be something blocking our progress and we haven't done any progress on that.

If it's a one way communication then it means we can't tell him what's happening up here or where he is. So opening this from inside won't do. I think I might need to consult this with the other directors before performing any further actions. Obviously brute-forcing our way in is dangerous and may trigger some other things that we don't want to happen.

Any ideas?
