Guys, some conversation I've been having with Dan:
Quote:
I... don't see anything.
Please don't tell it that's what's the bad news?! Genus has to be alive... ughh.... maybe he forget level 5's password. Maybe he jumped to level 7!
Quote:
Yes! Exactly why this is bad news! There's nothing in there!
Quote:
I'm so very sorry I couldn't help your friend in time. We need to get to the bottom of this, for him.
Quote:
Yes, we definitely need to. Our work in getting through the life support has been rendered useless. The code that runs the systems we actually modified, or rather tweaked. It wasn't today or the past few days, it was somewhere by around a few weeks or months since it was modified. What's surprising is that I operate this facility, and I should have been informed of this changes. I wasn't aware of the changes so we'll have to see and do something about this.
My technicians are back form the start of it because of this. It might take a while again. I have contacted Weston for some help, and right now I'm still waiting for his reply. The other BODs are also busy right now and haven't formally responded to me. Fred on the other hand is unreachable. So right now, I'm thinking of another solution for this. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

Our team is currently reviewing all previous data for clues. We're looking for a lead. Something that sticks out, like a rat in a garden hose...
Quote:
Ok, do your best guys. I'm getting much more worried now.
Quote:
Can you give us any details on the altered code? If it has a certain signature that you can find?
Quote:
I'll get the technicians to hand me a code sample. I'll get back at you in a moment.
Edit--Yes, I'm still waiting. I hope Dan is okay.
Well, looks like the waiting game again
.... Actually, lets get started on the previous security levels to see if there's anything there.

I totally felt empty when I opened it myself.

Well, I guess this confirms that Genus didn't get to L5. (the directory was empty for you guys, too, right?)
Oh, I hope he's okay...
As for what to tell/ask Dan, ask him if any of his guys knows a valid login Id/password for the FTP server. If they don't, ask if there's some way they could get one. Since this seems to stem further into the past than we initially thought, perhaps the server will hold some useful clue from the past. Remember, we already have a username (genusorein), we just need a password.

Oh crap, no one got this email? I got it an hour ago, but I just opened it now. This doesn't look good.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Bad news. My staff was able to get the Level 5 password. Yes of course that's bad news. Why? Maybe you shoudl see for yourself. Password for L5 is "whatsecuritypassword"
My staff was able to figure out the password using the call transcription in level 4. In case you wonder how they did it, they acted out the call conversation trying to figure out how the call is and what the other person's response could have been. It was quite funny and entertaining to watch them trying to figure it out. But then when we were able to figure out and try out the passwords, we were very surprised of what we saw on the L5 directory. You really need to see it.
Guys, help me formulate an answer:

Uh oh, this is bad... Maybe we need to go back and review past clues? Maybe there was something important we missed?

At this point, I do believe we are playing the waiting game.
We've exhausted every possible password we can think of (and then some) for L5, we don't even know where to begin on the password for the FTP server, and, even if we did get into one of those two places, what would we really have to gain from it? Genus is no longer communicating with us, meaning he's probably, in one way or another, not at his terminal. This means that there likely wouldn't be any files or directories in L5. And, anything on the FTP server would likely be old, dated, and irrelevant.
Dan said his boys would likely get communications up/access to the life support network going in an hour or so. I say we play the waiting game.
Alright, waiting game it is, awaiting new developments.

Anyone have any leads so far? I gave up trying to bruteforce the L5 password after it went down because of our accidental DDOS, anyone wana try asking Daniel if he and his techs have gotten any progress on accessing the L5 security level or the Lifesupport systems?

I sure hope your initials are JP... he doesn't seem to trust me.
Nevermind. He's cool with me.

I'm one of the original members of GoC's team. I'm here to help, as I have been from the start.
Since exploring higher levels is out of the question right now, how else can I help you?
Also, something to ponder, is Genus' strange behavior suggestive that he is under stress, or that someone is impersonating him? I'm hoping it's just stress, but trying to completely reset LAINSY seems strange. How hard is it to reboot LAINSY, start to finish, and why would Genus want the facility exposed during that time? Just how bad is FAILTECH fragmented?
Quote:
Hello Giovanni, and by GoC you mean Joseph Payne? Are you one of his experts team? I can't just disclose restricted information to people I don't know.
Quote:
Yes. Indeed, I am. I've been helping him crack several of the levels so far. Joe is a far better communicator, so he leaves much of the technical stuff to me and several others. There's no one you can trust more than this team. Guaranteed.
Quote:
Great! Going back to business, as far as I can think maybe Genus is just stressed and probably already weak. Since the lockdown about two days ago, he might have not eaten or drank anything at all. That's why I'm worried about his condition right now. As far as I can tell, no one can imporsonate anybody when they are inside a FAILTECH Facility (offices are much more vulnerable) because each facility is equipped with advanced biometrics system at the entry point and continuous supervision by LAINSY while inside. I don't know why Genus would want to reboot LAINSY, I mean he knows what happens if someone would do such. But, I'm guessing it's desperation and the decline in proper thinking due to starvation and dehydration. Think of it as a survival instinct.
Also, I don't think FAILTECH that much badly fragmented. However, it is fragmented enough to cause some minor and major issues once in a while here and there. Things mostly go well and smooth, but we at the higher ranks wants the gaps to close without removing the unique and effective advantages of the fragmentation of the company. Let's just say the company is still finding that good balance to make things much more stable.

I don't know if you have accessed admin yet, but usually Genus leaves us a note. He hasn't left us one for L4. We need to move quickly--I'm afraid he has passed out, or perished. A better part of me says he already found a way out, but we won't know unless he makes contact again.
Quote:
Oh god, I think I missed that part. I do now indeed wonder why he hasn't left a note in Level 4. It makes me much worried now. If he did find a way to get out, I'm sure he'll make contact with someone, but probably not anyone in the company (like me). Until we can get into the facility or he makes contact with us, I can't tell what's going on. Let's hope everything is still well and ok.
