I think the best way to tell Dan maybe to say that one of us (like me) has gone rogue and is going to do what scimitar has asked and you guys can't convince them otherwise. Thus they need to get out.

(Something along those lines. At least you can throw me under the bus or something)

Hmm, it is starting to look like we'll need to do it eventually, hmm? I would definitely be for letting Dan know. After all, if Scimitar is lying, we could end up with casualties; we don't know exactly what kind of bacteria they modified for that neat flesh-eating variety, and extremophiles exist that can survive Antarctica's cold.

So... What would be Scimitar's reaction if we told him we decided against it? And what would Dan's reaction be if we told him we needed to see what was going down? Prediction-
Scimitar: *shrug*
Dan: WTF NO
So if we do decide to set us up the bomb, I think we'll have to be careful about how we break the news to Dan.

I also wonder if Alex Sword is talking about us or a separate team, although common sense says Dan's keeping us from the company. Now why would he do that...?

Yes, I think that since it seems Genus, Alex, Scimitar (if he's not Alex), and very likely several other people high up (but not too high up) in FAILTECH are all in cahoots and agree that this code needs to be run, that there has to be some reason for it all. Plus, wasn't it Genus we were working with even before Dan Miller?

However, we have befriended Miller, in a way. And I do think that we shouldn't forsake him. Here is my personal opinion as to how we should proceed:

First, one of us (or more, if we each just want to ask one question, to make it seem less interrogative) should ask Scimitar these questions: 1. WHO all are you working with? You seem to have the same interests at heart as Genus, but you don't immediately seem to be directly involved with him. 2. WHY exactly do we need to reboot LAINSY and run this code? and 3. WHAT will this code do?

Next, if his reasons seem stupid, hysterical, radical, or otherwise not something we'd want to go along with, we'd have just extracted a crapload of info that we could turn over to Miller.

If his reasons seem logical or otherwise seem to have the best interests of FAILTECH and/or the general populous and/or the world at heart, we should go ahead and start a reboot. But, not without first:

Having one or more of us who have not been that chatty with him (people whom he would see as "minor" members of the group) send him an email stating that Scimitar is working with Genus and other FAILTECH members, and that they have nothing but good intentions in the grand scheme of things, and stating also that, without temperature control, the toxins would have frozen and could therefore be controlled.

Then, having some of the more "trusted" group members tell him that some of the lesser members have "splintered off" and have decided to reboot LAINSY according to Scimitar and Genus' wishes. This will alloiw us to keep with the dual-alliances plan.

Lastly, IMMEDIATELY after sending these emails, reboot LAINSY with the poem. This will give Dan no time to react and block off LAINSY's email address or anything like that.

This will allow the game to continue with all characters still in play and with us sure that we did the right thing. (I believe as well that the PMs are hinting with the encrypted files that rebooting LAINSY is the next step in the game)

I would appreciate your input on this. Thank you.

Here's his response

Quote:
Oh please... The safe locks will indeed unlock, however, any biohazard contained inside is frozen solid. It takes hours to defrost that, and it's current location (Antarctica) that can takes days especially if the life support system shuts down and there is no environmental temperature control.

Actually he does make a point. If there is no enviromental control then the tempature will start to drop to the outside.

Edit: I'm ready and willing to send it. I too believe with Badgerconda that we need to reboot her to continue with the game. I've had the same feeling for awhile.

All right, nobody panic. I'm not going to do anything crazy if there's this many objections. I'll sit on it for now, but I really think we need to reboot LAINSY to get to the next stage of the game.

Maybe if we warned Dan first, so he and his people could evacuate?

Actually I just asked Scimitar if Miller was saying the truth or not. I want to see what his answer is before making the crucial decision.

I'll edit when I get the response

P.S. The link on the sfs server for level 1 leads to a Level 16 access. I found that amusing.

Hehe, just to add more confusion! I decided to see if Alexander Sword had an email address and wrote this to alex.swordSPLATfailtechnologies.com:
Quote:
Dear Sir:

I was recruited as an outside consultant by Dan Miller to aid in his investigation into the incident at the Antarctica Facility.

As an independent investigator, I have some questions about Genus Orein. Do you have any knowledge about his recent work up to this incident? If so, would you be willing to speak to me about it?

Thank you for your time.

And I got a response!!
Quote:
Sorry, but do you have any legal papers that allow you to do these kinds of investigation? Oh, and don't worry, we don't need any independent investigators. Our company has our own set of investigators, and we're working on this case.

Based on Genus' blog, it really looks like FAILTECH is up to no good. the one picture.... with the FAILTECH= DEATH and the perfect= nothing makes me think that maybe there's some risk of Lainsy (who is 'perfect' according to the failtech guys) going all Skynet, and Genus and this Scimitar guy are trying to stop her.

I think we should give this Scimitar guy a shot, and see what happens. I like the idea that one of the posters earlier had of us splitting up, and some of us staying loyal to Dan, and the rest working with Scimitar/Genus. I'll volunteer to be on Scimitar's side.

I think I'm going to send Scimitar an email and then send LAINSY her reboot sequence. Any objections?

Mmm, I think it might be a better idea to put the proposition out on the floor for serious discussion. This thread isn't exceptionally hot right now and I'd like to see more of the group's opinions about it. Once a lot of us have time to mull it over and put out our thoughts, then we can make our decision. This seems like something that could irrevocably change our game plan.

I for one would prefer to sit on it until it's obvious we can't go forward any other way. It might frustrate Scimitar, but I don't think he'll back off anytime soon. On the other hand, once someone reboots on the whims of some rando, our standing inside FAILTECH will be called into question.

I still want to hold off on rebooting LAINSY. If Dan is right about the biohazard material getting loose in the facility, we could kill him. And getting rid of the guy just because he's not been forthcoming about some sensitive information is not a good enough reason to me. Smile

Instead I think we can focus on getting Scimitar to open up to us without rebooting LAINSY. Maybe if we keep talking to him he'll start giving us more to work with.

Also I asked Scimitar what he thinks about the images on Genus's blog. His reply:
Quote:
I don't know. I'm still waiting if Orein might post other more things that might help me figure it out.

But won't rebooting LAINSY kill Dan in the process as Dan says? you know, because Dan is inside the facility, and there won't be any safety and such... so I don't know. I'm really torn up here... I wanted to see a reboot, but then I'm thinking of the consequences and I'm like... nooooooooooooo!!

but whatever guys... this one's hard

Well i'll keep in contact with him. I sent him an email claiming about the code line we were shown before and that since it blocks devices they may want LAINSY's self-defense system to be stopped from going online after the reboot, and he's denied it.

This was what he said to me:
Quote:
Sorry, I hit that send button too soon without typing anything. haha

Anyways, Orein only needed to run a piece of code for something. It's not for taking over or that kind of thing, but the self-defence module would block the code from running, so it has to be run before the self-defence module starts up. Don't worry, LAINSY and it's self-defence module won't be affected by this, we just need to run a particular code into it.

Also, good theory about who I am. Yes, I do have higher level access, isn't that's what hackers do when they get hold of something?

I'm going to rebute that it seems like an awful lot of work for a hacker to do.

Yeah I'm not convinced of the Alex Sword = Scimitar connection either. Scimitar neither confirms nor denies it.

Not sure. Maybe they are the same person, maybe one or both want us to think they're the same person, or maybe Scimitar is doing Alex some sort of "honor" by picking a similar name. Hard to tell with this guy, we simply don't know enough about either yet...

aha I knew there could have been some relationship to it of some sort, so scimitar is alexander sword then?
