Looks like Alex will be away for today. Translation: The PMs are giving us time to solve this crazy cipher.
Quote:
Ok, so we are indeed pushing for a board meeting. Of course, I will be there. However, Miller can't. No matter how much I would want him to be there. And I know it's my fault, I'll need to pretend I don't know anything. Because if I say what happened, it might just get the whole plan busted. Orein is already close enough to completing his plan, and I don't want to stop now!

The meeting will be in a few minues and can last for an hour or the entire day. I'll be dispatching a team to head to Space Command, would take them hours or a day to get there, until then we can't know what's happening. I can't get anyone form the to go there from the other facilities, so I'll have to get some of my team to go there. In fact, I'm assembling a team composed of mine and Miller's. That is, if there's anyone willing to volunteer from his team.

So that will be the update for today, and you'll hear from me as soon as the meeting is done. Don't hestitate to send in any updates to me, I'll be reading them when I get hold of my email.

I think encrypting it 7 times is just overkill.... XD once or twice is hard enough.. especially now they're giving use these kinds of encrypted messages, I'm sure they won't make it so hard... I mean, it this will take us months to complete, that just won't do... IMHO

I think it is likely that the ciphertext is coded in either the Vigenere cipher or via one-time-pad cipher (both are actually quite similar).
Assuming that the "keygen"-file hints at possible decryption keys, we might want to check
Code:
OREIN
IAMOREIN
PRIME
FAILTECH
FAILTECHISTHEPRIME
IAMOREINANDFAILTECHISTHEPRIME

as keys.
(Maybe also THEM => "Use them as keys"; Although the use of keys in plural reduces the likelyhood of THEM being a key...)

Considering the level2 text zeighy posted, I dont think that the message has been encrypted 7 times but that message may contain info they collected during the iterations.
Although I wouldnt completely dismiss the possibility that it might have been encrypted multiple times (1 time for each pass?!)

Also, two new stuff came up at level 1 and 2...

level 2 has a password, just use the same from level 7

I'll post them here to archive

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The legend of the Juhku

They say, there was once a calamity the struck this unverse and threatened the existence of everything
in it. The stars, planets, galaxies, life, dead, time, space, and everything else. Will end.
The best of the best from the best races formed an alliance. They decided that if they can't stop this
calamity from happening this time, why can't they instead try again and see if the next time around
they can figure out what's wrong and prevent this from happening.

Amongst the different races, only one can pass through and pass over the information from generation to
generation so that each pass will get better and better. Hopefully, at a certain point the calamity can
be prevented.

This legend was passed over by the one selected to hold the information on the second pass. However, in
that instance, they failed and had to do another pass. However a mistake was made. No one knew exactly
what was the mistake. However, it's effects can be felt for each pass. We're on the seventh. This legend
will continue and the calamity will still persist until the bearer is found.

edit: there's also a new file on http://failtechnologies.com/sfs/L6/SCR/OREIN/NOTES/ suggesting this was from Genus... I think this is an interesting part....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Sorry if you had to end up like this. I sorry dad had to do this.
I love you so much. I just wish there was a way around it.

and there's also a file on the proto directory on L6

here it is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
They asked me if I can do something about the missing logic for LAINSY.
I said, "No, there's nothing missing. It's just that LAINSY hasn't learned
them, yet."

So they asked me why she wasn't taught those, yet, and I said, "If you think
it's safe for her, and for us to learn that the sure I'll teach it to her.
But a child was never meant to learn those kinds of things."

They question why we make LAINSY sound so human. But that's just because she is.

EDIT: ok, so far that's what I found... the rest are on L7, and mostly new puzzles... I'll leave them to you guys... I have somewhere to go to today I will however check this thread while I'm away to check the progress

Random, new file in the NOTES sub-directory: yep.txt

I feel like VINEGAR and OREIN have some important info in it, but we can't get to it.

Maybe five more new files now. Has anyone got a clue? 7 iterations seems like a clue.

I'm going to chime in (Won't be very active) He may be referring to my fake email about the "files" in Level 10. Though I could be wrong. Also another new email from Alex:

Quote:
My team just alerted me about some files suddenly appearing at different sections and security levels at the Secure File storage. I'm not sure why or how, but I'm betting Orein has something to do with this. I still have to hear about what's happening or what has happened up there at Space Command, but if these files are appearing, I'm sure Orein definitely has something do with it. LAINSY refuses to tell anything about it, so we can't really tell. We can always check the logs, but LAINSY claims there's nothing there to see.

Oh well, I'm sure by now you've already figured this already. Some of them seem to be encrypted. We tried to decrypt them, but no luck. I'm sure all of you are much experienceed at cracking these, so I'll leave them to you. If you find anything useful, you can always tell it to me.

I just got home, and I'll start to try my luck with in these... oh and I found a site that might help...

http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/

there's like a plethora of different things so maybe that could help... I'll check back if I have something

He said 'don't forget the files!' or something like that on one of the logs. I have them archived in my posts.

Why did Alex say this in the last email?
Quote:
Orein did mention something about the files, right?

I don't remember him specifically saying anything about the files.

Edit: Just thought that if I figured out why we were deciphering these, it might give us a clue to help us decipher them.

I noticed the timestamps too. I'll try again later as well.

I've tried all those things too Godder. I think that the KEYGEN document is important to both the blue and vinegar codes because if you look at the timestamp they were all uploaded at about the same time. Also they were uploaded much more recently than the other docs. I'll keep trying in my spare time today.

Are there other ways to decode it? Maybe there's some other ways to it? Not sure... can't do anything.... I'm jus checking this thread over my phone right now...

Has anyone figured out how to solve OREIN.txt in the blue directory? It may be a keyed Caesar, but blue and orein don't work as keys.

That one and VINEGAR in the DOCS folder are both frustrating me.

Edit: I've tried several combinations of keyed and unkeyed Caesar and Vigenere with several keys including what is noted in KEYGEN under Notes.

Edit: Maybe columnar transposition? Nope! Any ideas Punxtr, Duke, Mothman, Zeighy, Minz?

Wow. Lots to digest. So Genus is taking the FOxR-B agent to use on the Afyg? And he is talking to Lainsy like she is a juvenile. Still working through the ciphers as I have time.
