I believe Forest to be an innocent, and if the price to pay is Father's life I feel it should be paid. I don't like it, partially because I understand Father's motives, his purpose and reasoning, but Forest deserves to live.

If no one objects I'd like to send the Watchman an e-mail in a few hours...

I made a choice and emailed them because I wasn't sure how much time was left. My choice should be apparent with this response, which I was asked to show everyone:

Quote:
You take life so easily?
For one you would sacrifice another?

That is your choice. Your voice alone, so far, is the one we have
heard. If it remains so, it will be as you decide. Are you content
with that?

Share with others - one rotation left...

So... do we want to end Father, and give Forest a chance to redeem himself? Or do we leave both of them to their judgment by the Green?

Email from The Watchman:

Quote:
We note that Forest has a new friend. Pity your friendship may be short-lived...

We have waited long enough.

We question, as one poet and playwright did:

Should 'The sins of the father are to be laid upon the children' ?

If not, Forest's father is removed permanently and the golem-child is
therefore released and independent. His actions will determine his
fate.
If so, we will reinstate Forest's father to him - at the cost of them
both being punishable for their actions, and each others.

We will await three rotations of the planet: the sun will rise and set
once upon your decisions sent to us in reply and we will will then
decide on the day you mark of the Sun on possibly giving you the
energy Forest seeks OR taking all of our energy back permanently.

One condition - Forest is not to know of this ultimatum - he is of
man's decision making process - that will be his making or undoing
now.
Choose between yourselves - discuss what you need to and be full in
your thoughts.

Thoughts maketh the man...

The Watchman.

Who is Father in terms of Forest?

Just tossing an idea up there:

One of Forest's Tweets mentions Father being two people. Forest also makes references to being untied in this Tweet, which could support the idea of Forest and Father being connected. Combine that with the observation that Forest's tweets have started going from plural first person to singular since Father's disappearance, could Forest and Father be so closely connected that one lives in/as the other?

Taking into account the Biblical reference, does Forest need to come to terms with being the embodiment of Father's desires (desires that manifest as Father himself)?

It seems Forest is really troubled. I tweeted during work, and he pleaded with me to help him. I couldn't.

Watchman,I don't understand. Have you removed Father from the timeline?

Youtube title "NLE Tractor" and what says beneath "I am responsible and penitent..."

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultivator_No._6

Cultivator No. 6 was the code name of a military trench-digging machine developed by the British Royal Navy at the beginning of World War II. The machine was originally known as White Rabbit Number Six; this code name was never officially recognised, but it was said to be derived from Churchill's metaphorical ability to pull ideas out of hat.[1] It is also highly suggestive of the White Rabbit character from Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland who famously disappears down a hole. An echo of the original code name remained in the "WR" drawing numbers used by Ruston-Bucyrus. Possibly by coincidence, when recording a demonstration of Cultivator in 1941, General Alan Brooke likened another meeting earlier that day to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party.[2] The codename was changed to the less suggestive Cultivator Number Six to conceal its identity. The name was later changed to N.L.E. Tractors.[3] Winston Churchill sometimes referred to the machine as his mole and the prototype machine was dubbed Nellie. It was lightly armoured and carried no weapons. It was designed to advance upon an enemy position largely below ground level in a trench that it was itself excavating. On reaching the enemy's front line, it would serve as a ramp for the troops, and possibly tanks, following in its trench.

Cultivator No. 6 was an enormous machine and was planned to be built in substantial numbers. The overall weight was 130 tons and the length was 77 feet 6 inches (23.62 m).[4] The machine's development and production was enthusiastically backed by Winston Churchill and work on it continued well past the point when there was no obvious use for it.[5] In the end, only a small number of machines were constructed and none were used in combat. In his memoirs, Churchill, said about it: "I am responsible but impenitent".[6]

Hint: It helps to look at "7x3" in terms of size measurement.

This is what I found:

EDIT: In terms of the "Together..." video, I tried to transcribe what was in the green strip near the beginning but couldn't quite see the whole thing. I'm wondering if it's already solved from a previous puzzle or a completely new one. Here's what I managed to get (with mis-transcriptions a plenty):

Which translates into:

And it has indeed already been solved!

Guardian,

Forest's Father was seeking another energy source for him to use. Perhaps if you communicated with him, you could find another option. I am searching for things myself.

William Blake recognized that both the Tyger and the Lamb were created by the same being, or at the very least accepted it as a possibility. You may see Forest as a soldier, a warrior, a Tyger, but perhaps he is the Lamb. Or, if he is the Tyger, while should he be held at fault for the actions of the being who "twisted the sinews of [his] heart"?

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, merely changed in form, correct? Perhaps if you could find the form of energy that is released by Forest back into the environment you could find a way to bring it back into the Green.

Sincerely,

DDL

The energy is consumed by him, turned into fuel and used to maintain his rotting shell. Mortals do not need this continual energy as balance is obtained through respiration and digestion. Forest eats and digests, but his very being defies physics and the energies required to maintain his existence. We of the Green respect his want of life... We just cannot honour it for much longer without losing our own. From an unknown to an unknown... What would you have up do regarding Father? Whilst time travel isn't impossible, we do question the affect on Forest when if realises the truth...

EDIT: Some more... communication. Sort of-
I replied to the Watchman again and said:

Reply is in the attachment, it was the only way to format it right.

I got the last bit, "Sc=LixN" It's the atomic symbols. 21=7x3. So I would think that would be the key for the rest.

Yes, that code decodes to "pentacle". I've tried to separate the voices, but I can't get anything yet.

Re: And it grew both day and night...
Forest is a single entity, despite his being made up of many. We ARE many, we are one force - we use one voice to talk to you - via these electrons and crystals of quartz, but we are much more. We are oxygen, the trees gasp of life that you mortals need to breathe.
We are the green in the plants you harvest, the creatures that pollinate and spread your genetically modified foods.
We are never thanked, and we bear with this. We care not for emotion - your anger or your concern does not matter to us - merely your actions.
The man who you once referred to as Howard Fair was fearful of us yet still came. He is now us and understands this - would you sacrifice your humanity to discover the same secret? No.
We do not try to set anyone against anyone - merely ask how this situation is best resolved. We do not wish to hurt - but we are limited by our governances of what we can do.
The key lies with creation. Let the stars throw down their spears...

No Watchman that is not a viable solution and is as distasteful to me as mine was to you. Forest exists and, as I have shown you, wants to continue to exist just as you want to continue to exist. Please do not delete Father from the timeline. I am sure another solution can be found.

Also, I am trying to be your friend but you make it very hard first by trying to set your followers against the friends of Forest, then by continually threatening to cut short his existence. And so yes, I am starting to get angry with you.

You would have us inflict the golem upon another realm instead - pass the buck as you mortals say - how very limiting of you - yet your words bear fruit earlier - it is not the child's fault for the sins of the Father - we will look into removing Father from time and thus prefent the existence of Forest in the first place - this is what you intend yes?

Dear Watchman,

Blake understood that everything in the world is connected. "To see the world in a grain of sand..."
http://johanistan.wordpress.com/2011/05/16/william-blake-auguries-of-innocence-an-analysis-part-i/#more-549

Harming part of the world has a corresponding consequence to all the rest
"A dog starved at his master's gate
predicts the ruins of the state"
http://johanistan.wordpress.com/2011/05/24/an-analysis-of-william-blakes-auguries-of-innocence-part-ii/

What is harming your green world is "the soldier, armed with sword and gun, palsied strikes the summer's sun" because Forest is converting the green that you need into the energy that he needs and "energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy

And so this seems like an "either or" situation.

But even Blake thought the soldier was a slave.
"Blake's trouble with authority came to a head in August 1803, when he was involved in a physical altercation with a soldier called John Schofield.[36] Blake was charged not only with assault, but also with uttering seditious and treasonable expressions against the King. Schofield claimed that Blake had exclaimed, "Damn the king. The soldiers are all slaves."[37] Blake would be cleared in the Chichester assizes of the charges. According to a report in the Sussex county paper, "The invented character of [the evidence] was ... so obvious that an acquittal resulted."[38] Schofield was later depicted wearing "mind forged manacles" in an illustration to Jerusalem"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Blake

Forest was created by Father and like the soldiers in Blake's time, Forest too is enslaved to his king/Father whom he obeys unquestioningly.

And so to me Forest appears to be an innocent, "a robin redbreast in a cage", that as Blake argues in his poem should be protected.
Forest was created by Father and so had no choice in the matter. His "cage" is his unique reanimated condition which so far does not allow him to be free. And he is in Venice now to find an artisan to help fix his face so he can live more easily among humans

He also does not want to hurt the green. He understands that he is hurting the green but
has a sincere desire not to be the cause of other peoples suffering as evidence by something he wrote to me:

Dear Pia
This is the first that anyone has explained our source of energy - we are confused - we do not wish to take from something else - yet we understand also that there is a role in the natural cycle for everything. We know we are outside of that - but Father's purpose for us is nothing to do with the Green - of that we have been assured. We just desire to live like everyone else - to serve our country and to help others.. to love, and to have children..
What other energies could we use?
Forest.

He appears to think he is not part of the natural cycle and you too seem to indicate that as well from what you said;
"Forest drains the Green exponentially, not systematically - for every epoch that he exists, one tree is felled, one land depleted, one soul consumed. All draw on, yet return back - he does not."

"The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exponential_growth
and from this video I understand now how severe you are viewing the issue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM1x4RljmnE
and that for Forest too this is a fatal situation.

When Howard conjured up the green sprite, the sprite told him that there may be more realms of magic beyond the green
that correspond to rawn and pallow. Is there a source of energy that Forest can use from one of those realms?

Pia

Looking through F.F.E.Y.-T., I noticed that this wasn't really discussed during the other puzzles, and since it references energy, I thought to post here. This was after Forest asked Father about its energy source.
