Oh snap, did we ever tell the Watchman which constellation was formed from that Tyger excerpt? That's definitely connected.

Also, I forgot about 4 5 6... whoops. That could have helped as well.

Okay, the Holy Grail was also known as the Mystic Rose. The star of Bethlehem comes to mind. That's not exactly a star though. Numbers has this:

I see Him, but not now;
I behold Him, but not near;
A Star shall come out of Jacob;
A Scepter shall rise out of Israel,
And batter the brow of Moab,
And destroy all the sons of tumult.

I think it's a stretch. I advise everyone else continue searching.

Going back to that dotted image:

I think it's the PM's way of saying in-game that he's giving us some hints.

(Edit for wording because how I worded it didn't sound right XD)

Has anyone tried to connect the images of the countries/areas, shown in the color green, with one another? Perhaps it forms something? What were they anyways, I couldn't figure out all of them.

I'm glad I seemed to help somehow...I kinda left it a bit open ended, just asking for him to help us find what we're missing, I suppose you could say.

Could the answer be referencing to nature and plants, which gain energy from the sun?

Lystella, I think you're right about the sun's energy. I do remember him giving us that hint earlier:
Quote:
dot to dot spear to star similar to a mystic rose

Like I said then, you connect the dots at the edges of a circle to form the star at the center and the "mystic rose". That seems like he's kinda pointing us at the end result by making a reference to a star, of which our sun is one, yet still saying we need to connect the dots to get there. Maybe I'm reading too much into that, but it makes sense to me.

I still get the feeling that we're missing something, though...like that's not all there is to it. I don't know, maybe it's because he specifically called attention to the phrase 'I serve' again. What are everyone else's thoughts on that?

It sounds like he trying to tell us that our attention got diverted from answering the important question of energy to trying to find a hint that does not exist in the clues he gave---clues which might also have only been trying to say that we should look back at the energy problem and not focus too much on the clues.

EDIT: In terms of energy, he focuses on energy from the Sun (as opposed to for example, other human-synthesized energies). He also makes mentions "ultimately things that grow". The subject of the email also asks "Do you not see the path of the wind and the rain?" which could be referencing nature and natural cycles. Eww...the dreaded triple post Sad

On another note, more puzzles!

Quote:
Subject: "Do you not see the path of the wind and the rain?"

Dear daughter of the first man,

As Forest is realising from the past, everyone gets what he deserves... You have served us well, I serve you better.

You are all looking for an answer, a solution that will help Forest. We the Green wish to provide you this solution, in order to preserve our energy but, like all quests, cannot directly tell you what you seek.
You, as a race, ultimately obtain your energy from the Sun - via a long process of transformation. The closer you get to your star, the more energy you gain. Alchemists and magicians realised this in their sciences and examined the rocks, the soils and ultimately the things that grow...

[We do not wish to tickle you with the answer's ideas but we vane to see how the contours of the solution can reach you any other way.]

Once you have this first step, you take two more steps, one in each area's language and find what grows there.
Easy as 1,2,3...

[Then all you need to do is 4,5,6 - but that is not what you asked about...]

The Watchman

I'll edit it later when I'm not on an iPod, bit 'I serve' is italicised. Done. Also got an attachment that I didn't notice before, seeing as how I wasn't actually in a position to download it at the time...a rather fun start to the day, though Smile

Apologies to all for the delay in posting...just wanted to let you all know that I've answered The Watchman. I'll post any information I get as soon as I can.

Perhaps asking a question that gets us multiple answers? My biggest issue is knowing what we need to find out...

Also, just realized this, if it helps any:

Quote:
dot to dot spear to star similar to a mystic rose

You connect the dots with lines, or spears to make the star at the center.

The Watchman mentioned being clever in another puzzle. Could the cleverness still apply to the one question we may ask? If so, to what extent could we try to be clever?

That makes sense. I went back through the *entire* thread here, looking for things that never got answered. Here's a list of our loose ends. Please feel free to look back and add anything that I've missed...

Three things given to us at various points that were never explained, but seem to be connected:

Quote:
The key lies with creation. Let the stars throw down their spears...

dot to dot spear to star similar to a mystic rose

seek stars from stars

We still have some capitalized letters from two codes that no one made sense of:

Quote:
GESRS and ECNAVBH

Now, a few connections I've made:

We got an image a while back that said this:

Quote:
II. Reason or the ratio of all we have already known, is not the same that it shall be when we know more

This is from There Is No Natural Religion by William Blake

Also, this term keeps popping up:

Quote:
Let the stars throw down their spears

That is from The Tyger, also by William Blake. The reason I believe it is important is because this is one of the few repeated poems used.

Finally, the mystic rose. Honestly, this one confuses me. Looking it up in google gets me a mixture of religious sites and a few talking about the mathematical formula that creates a "mystic rose" or a circle with lines drawn to equidistant points around the circumference. A slightly better explanation is found here. The other thing that stood out to me was related to punxtr's comment on positive energy. One of the religious sites talked about the "mystic rose meditation", which had three steps: laughter, tears, and silence.

One thing I do know: I'm going to ask about something involving this latest puzzle. What specifically, I don't know yet. I'm leaning toward something about either the countries picture or the significance of the "stars and spears" piece of the puzzle.

About the lottery(As I understand it.):

The lottery is an incentive,a game, organized by Father. We solve the challenges put forth by him, through Forest, and we earn tickets. The winner gains the prize, a painting.

I think we should ask about the current puzzle that the Green has given us. Perhaps ask a question related to the green countries shown?

The drain is exponential as well, that much he revealed to me. Perhaps the answer is more scholarly, though.

Another thing to think about in terms of the energy is how the Green had described it as exponentially increasing. Was the energy drain also described as having no limit?

If there is no limit, then could it be possible that the act of taking the energy also be used to refill (for lack of a better word) the energy taken? (Think cyclical)

If there is a limit, then could it be possible to find an energy source that can be sustained somewhere above that limit (so that it won't be depleted)?

I chat with the Watchman from time to time. The most recent one was the friendliest by far. Here is what still needs to be done:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
As for the task bestowed upon humanity - it is a test - solve it - and you will be granted understanding of what to use - and how - and where - to grant Forest his energy. Fail... and...

We need to come up with an alternate energy source that others have found. Perhaps, relating this to Roald Dahl, this energy should be the type of positive energy to come from happiness and joy.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on terms of whether Forest's fate has been resolved yet. I was under the impression that the issue was more of Forest's existence (due to energy) even though Father had created. Even if Father is out of the picture, wouldn't Forest's existence still be an issue?
