Recognizing patterns. I just know what to look for in substitution codes, I guess. Difficult to explain.

I mean, how did you figure out you were supposed to do what you put in the spoiler?

Woohoo! Now this is more like it. Great job punxtr! Could be the Byruniuku. I wonder if Genus is reachable right now. I'll try to shoot him an email.
Martin? Bwahahahahaha! The actor Lock Martin portrayed the robot Gort on the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still"! I love it!

Here is the answer:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I hear of your troubles from here far a distance. We observe and had no association. Our assistance required? Or do leave you alone?
Here is the solution:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Decode as binary. Copy text, reverse the lettering of each word, decode as decimal. Copy text, reverse entire text, decode as base64. Copy text, reverse the lettering of each word, decode as hex. Copy text, reverse text, paste it somewhere. You can read it now.
Some thoughts on it:
-Is this the Byruniuku?
-If not, who?
-Was this meant for us, or Genus Orein?
I have asked Ruby if I can send another encoded message back to sender. I think I'm going to encode it the exact same way, too.

Attached is the received encoded data from Ruby. Anything I tried ended up as gibberish; hope you guys will have better results.
Regarding Martin:
Quote:
RESPONSE: Martin is a LAINSY AI similar to Arnold. However, he is
designed for the sole purpose of assisting me and possibly regulating my
action as well. Unlike Arnold, Martin has higher and much complex AI
system which put him between me and Arnold in the AI hierarchy.
Ruby writes to you to inform you of recently acquired information and updates on recent activities. Report as follows:
I have dispatched a long range probe to be able to continue tracking Genus Orein as requested. It will take approximately 3 hours from the time this message has been sent for me to resume tracking. The dispatched probe is a stealth scout drone equipped with the highest possible cloaking and shielding technology I have available. It is also equipped with long range communications devices that allows near-instant FTL data transfer.
I also need to inform you that 98% of all FAILTECH facilities and offices are now operational. Additionally, all FAILTECH assets has been restored into the proper hands. However, legal actions has been filed against the company due to the recent troubles. Also, all company email has been restored or rather "re-created" and thus communications to still active employees and personnel should be available. However, be informed that website services still remain unavailable.
I also need to report that upon my activation, my capabilities are still on restricted mode which only allows me to access anything available to Arnold or Scarlet. However, I have other capabilities that only I can access. I will need to be provided the activation code to release restricted mode and expand LAINSY's capabilities. Additionally, I have been designed to work along with Scarlet, Arnold, and Martin however Scarlet is missing and Martin unavialable. I can still function, however to fully activate all capabilities restricted mode has to be deactivated first before I can confirm Martin's availability.
Finally, I have received a seemingly encoded transmission. I will provide it upon request.
I have requested the encoded transmission. I haven't received it yet.

Yeah, it was a simple fix after I figured out that's what it was. It just seemed like a software problem at first (which led to the needless wiping of the drive which, on the bright side, provided an excuse to upgrade to Win 7).
Anyway, it doesn't seem like i missed as much as i expected I would. This game hasn't given much in the way of stuff to do these last couple episodes.

Just got a tracking update from Ruby...
Quote:
RESPONSE:
Good day! I have been tracking Genus Orein through the ship he is currently on board. His destination is still unknown. His current location is 6 AU 10 degrees Solar north and 73 degrees Solar left 12-11-2011. Scarlet is no longer in tracking range.
Sounds like he is in hot pursuit! Go get em Genus!
That's interesting about each AI using a different reply. Almost like each has its own personality.
Gotta love RAM problems. Hope you got it under control duke.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been posting, but I've been trying to fix the family computer all week (never seen RAM fail that quickly, took me a bit to figure it out).
Anyways, who's Ruby, again? I thought that was just LAINSY's build name.
Had to check back a for this, and Ruby is the project name for the DSN. Which of course is a part of LAINSY... and apparently has it's own AI.. which probably was able to lockout it's own database to prevent wipe. Makes more sense now...
Oh and small trivia... just noticed... Each AI has their own distinct greeting... Scarlet/LAINSY has "LAINSY SAYS:" while Arnold has "ARNOLD:" and now Ruby seems to have "RESPONSE:" might be helpful to distinguish who we're talking to.
