It looked to me like lainsy decided by herself to retrieve the pod. I guess we'll find out soon what was on board. I'll let genus know what is going on.

Hello! I know it's been a while, but and important concern has been brought up to me. A few minutes ago, I have been notified by the people on board the EGS (Earth Galactic Station) that LAINSY is bringing on board a craft of unknown origin with a living thing in it.

I am contacting you now, because I am not sure if anyone of your executed an order to perform this action. You know, recent developments in her allowed her to make actions herself without any regard if she has to ask permission from us to perform it or not. So, as far as I am aware of, her bringing this craft on board is a security risk since we are not fully aware of it's origin. I will contact the Dev Team to check the logs for me, but that can take a while since FAILTECH is up and running 90% already so there are already a lot of actions being logged each day.

If LAINSY judges that this action is safe, I will see through that it is. I do not want any trouble anymore, at least for this company.

punxtr, did you mention retrieving the escape pod, or was LAINSY already in the process of retrieval?

RESPONSE: Probe scans sent in scan information and this is my report:

Scans indicate object of interest is an escape pod. Designs indicate it is of FAILTECH origin. I have checked system records and do not find any information about this pod. Further scans indicate life sign within the pod I could not, however, determine the condition of the passenger on board. I have already dispatched a retrieval probe and will retrieve the escape pod and send it to the EGS. Once on board the EGS I could perform further inspection of the pod's origin, and the passenger on board could be assisted by the personnel on board the EGS.

Think post details for probe.

Yay! Good work, punxtr \(^O^)/

I wonder what the probe found...

Ha ha, only the automatic "probe sent out" reply. Still waiting...

Edit--I sincerely doubt I messed up the math. Anyway, some good news:

RESPONSE: Inspection results in ZERO in the vicinity of the area. However, extended scans indicate an object roughly 1 AU Solar-right. Do you wish to move the probe closer for investigation?

Of course, I replied.

*grabs a slice of cardboard cake and a bottle of crown* Thanks punxtr. I can always count on you to straighten out what I'm bending Wink Any reply yet?

Edit: Thanks for the support there, Tharol!

Hopefully I didn't goof either, but I'm sure I did it correctly Smile

Edit--Actually, only godder was reasonably close, moreso on his first try. Razz

In case anyone wanted to check how they are computing STS, here are the coordinates and final location used to find Emily.

I can't exactly explain on words... I'm trying to draw it, but my drawing skills fail at me.... but, just think of it as calculating vectors....... instead this vector is in 3d space, instead of the usual 2d vectors..... so we need to calculate the length of the vector from 0,0,0 to where ever each coordinate is...

ah shoot, now that I'm looking at the difference of yours and mine, your is the CORRECT one... hah! I missed out on putting a square on the sqrt(x^2 + y^2)

@posse: If you performed the calculations for x, y, and z with their absolute values, I think the calculations work out. However, from what I understand of Genus' explanation of STS (which does not amount to much since STS still confuses me), I thought the calculations are to be performed while taking into account the number's positive/negative value. What was your take on it?

@zeighy: How did you derive your distance formula? Here's the one I used:
Quote:
d = sqrt[ sqrt( x 2 +y 2 ) 2 +z 2 ] = sqrt( x 2 +y 2 +z 2 )
