One of the most epic parts that I could say was the very first reboot where we had to refresh the page nearly every second and patiently await updates... with our hearts pumping as events unfold....

What a blast! It has been a pleasure going on this adventure with all of you guys. My hat goes off to the PM's for their creativity and ingenuity. Another couple of my favorite parts:

When G$20 jacked the game and tried to mess with Lainsy and then she was about to fry him and possibly us too. Gotta love that auto-eject huh?

When posse and zeighy "went rogue". You two were so bad! Wink

When Lainsy actually called me. My wife said, "Who was it?". I was like, "Just a semi biological artificial intelligence super computer from the future". She was like, ... Shocked lololol

Super cool. Well, whoever receives the hard copy of the novel, let us all know. For the time being I know I'll be lurking around trying to find something interesting to meddle with. I'll see you guys in season 2 and in other universes as well.

mmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww, Ah well, It's been fun playing with you guys! I guess we'll all meet again on season 2!

I think season two IS the novel. Regardless, I'm glad to have been a part of this. I remember all of the hard times I spent trying to bust so many codes... so many codes! Then we broke the codes, and didn't know what to do with the messages! Ah, left turns everywhere!

Remember when we were scared of resetting LAINSY? So many things we didn't know then, and we thought we had the whole picture...

Hello!

It's been a long 8 months of FAILTECH (and some other) and we've been glad everyone held up to this point! A season is over, with 7 Episodes! It's was roller coaster ride of ups and downs, and we've been glad you have been a part of it! As you may know, this universe is still big and wide that not everything has been answered this season. We haven't selected the three players to received the physical copies of the book. We'll contact them through email once we have a locked-in version of the novel (the version that goes to the publisher) to obtain their mailing address. Additionally, due to essence of how certain aspects of the ARG will be present in the novel everyone receiving this email (this one you're reading right now) will be receiving a digital copy of the novel irregardless if you are receiving a physical copy or not. The digital copy will be 100% DRM-free because we have good faith in all of you especially you've been a part of the story that drives how the novel develops.

As an incetive for being with us up to this point (and esentially for reaching this point) we have attached a pre-release chapter of the novel. Don't worry, we believe it won't spoil the novel even if it doesn't belong in the first few chapters. Which chapter it is? We won't tell either, just take it as an insight behind the scenes around FAILTECH. It's in PDF, and we've tested that it works in both the iPhone and iPod Touch (as long as you have the iBooks or Kindle app), and we assume it should also work in the iPad if you have the same apps installed. To put the the pdf inside iBook, you'll need to import it into your iTunes libaray and sync it to your device. Then in iBook, open the filter to display PDF files instead if the books you have purchased. To put it inside the Kindle app, open your device in iTunes, then open the App tab, scroll down then click on Kindle, and then you click the "add" button to transfer the pdf into the Kindle app in your device.

To open it in your android device, transfer it to your device (by downloading the attachment directly using your device) or using another method such as via the USB cable. Once it is in your device, open your file manager program, such as Astro, ES File Explorer, or My Files (Samsung devices) then browse to the location of the pdf file then open it. We have tested that it will work with the Adobe Reader app, or the Kindle app. You can always feel free to use any other app, but we don't guarantee it will display properly.

Do note that due to how the pdf is formatted, text may appear smaller than how you might expect it to be. Also, text re-flow (automatic adjustment of text when font size is modified) does not work. We do apologize for this, and we will do more extensive testing for the digital copies you will receive later on. However, we are informed that these problem only exist because we are providing a pdf copy, so if you are interested, we have attached an rtf copy which you should be able to convert to other formats much more compatible.

And again, thank you for participating in FAILTECH Season 1! We shall see you in Season 2!

FAILTECH ARG Team

P.S. You can still interact with all of the characters, but we do not guarantee timely responses.

The story seems to follow Jhuku more closely.
Hopefully season 2 will be a return to the fast-paced, code-breaking, website-exploring awesomeness that this game started out as (with some of the email communicating still thrown in, of course)!

We were just about to save the Jhuku, with assistance from FAILTECH, when suddenly the Jhuku shows up safe. He says the criminal killed himself. Yup, that's how it went according to him. I can't verify if he is saying the truth or not, nonetheless I am very glad the Jhuku is safe.

I have verified with FAILTECH that this is really the Jhuku, and he is not compromised or anything. He is 100% who he is supposed to be. Aside from the doubt I have of how things went, and still don't believe this criminal killed himself. For what reason? Did he all of sudden feel guilty of his acts? I doubt. There is really something here that we're missing.

Maybe those belong to what you call "we may never know", and I'm only quite interested of those details because I feel that it impedes my full understanding of the mission I need to accomplish.

Either way, the Jhuku will be picked up by Oriru Serku soon. Until then, he will be kept an undisclosed location, like how he was kept for several years here on Earth.

Thank you for all the assistance! Oh, and yes the riddle has already been solved. I can give you the answer, but I assume you'd want to solve it yourself. Here's some further clues: the answer is one word, a word the makes the whole riddle make sense. The answer can be followed by realizing the poem, or by figuring visual cues. I would be happy to provide you a sample of the previous riddles, however, I am not authorized to do so because if they go out other groups may be able to solve riddles and guise themselves as Oriru Serku to the Hovago.

I guess everything ends here? I hope so! We shall meet again, I'm sure we'd need your help later on. And FAILTECH says that you all should keep in contact as they might need you sooner than I would. Best wishes my friends!

A Repairman's promise

....wtf? How in the world did that happen? Also, from this new clue, I just had an idea: could it be a simple word that's missing, causing it not to make sense?

I had asked LAINSY about tracking the Jhuku, and she followed up on her approximation with the suggestion of deploying a probe to the area in case the tracking signal was being dispersed. Here's what her probe found:

RESPONSE: Offset calculation complete. 45459 location as of timestamp is 37.93349, 126.62182

I have no idea what might be going with Oriru Serku, though.

LAINSY was able to derive a solution and through the help of one of you, she is now in the process of calculating to be able to locate the Jhuku. I'm glad you are all still in this.

Anyhow, Oriru Serku said that they won't be assisting for this problem. They didn't provide any explanation why. They just declined to provide assistance. Now, I feel there's something suspicious about this. However, they did say they will instead get the Jhuku once we have retrieved him. They will then be the ones who will send him to Hovago. Additionally, that could mean that they have already solved the riddle? I do not know.

They instructed that we should focus on retrieving the Jhuku and making sure of his safety. Any suggestion or ideas?

Any idea what's up with the Oriru Serku? Also, whoever who helped, what did you do?

Are you referring to the recent information transfer into Scarlet, or the 45459's state when he was first discovered? If the former, I was under the impression that it was just Genus (and probably Emily) that knew what happened. If the latter, I'm not clear on that either.

It didn't cross my mind to ask LAINSY about the Jhuku's current location. XD *slinks off to email*

Email!

RESPONSE: Confirmed. Apologies, but while my tracking systems works, I am unable to achived a lock into 45459's location. There seems to be a lot of interference at his relative which diffuses and desaturates the tracking information. His relative location is within 150km of 38, 126.

Wait, isn't our Jhuku had his memory wiped? Or was that just purely the work of Genus Orein? I'm even more confused now....

Anyone try to ask LAINSY if she can locate the Jhuku?

Being utterly confused about how the cycles and time alterations worked in the FAILTECH universe, I asked Winston about them. This is his response, although as he mentioned in the earlier email, Oriru Serku might not have said everything to him:

Winston Yu wrote:
As far as I am informed, the criminal we are in pursuit of has tapped the knowledge stored in the Jhuku. It is more or less unrelated to the Jhuku's main objective, at least to what I am informed of. Otherwise, if the criminal indeed wants to impede the success he should have already disposed of the Jhuku a long time ago when he had the chance. I suspect there's something else going on. I have alreday made my apeal with Oriru Serku to completely clarify all aspects and circumstances of this mission.

Regarding how the Jhuku affects each cycle is rather complicated. The most simplest explaination that I could give is that on each cycle that the Jhuku passes through he carries information from the previous cycle. Information about the previous cycle can then be either be actively used by the Jhuku to alter the future, or the Jhuku can do nothing and his mere presence can change circumstance across the universe thereby creating a variation of events different from what happened from the previous cycle. Thus, he again collects information for that cycle storing the difference. And it goes on until either we solve the problem regarding the catastrophe or we simply admit defeat.

This time around, it seems a variation in the cycle of events might have created this criminal. It still purely theoretical since only the leaders of Oriru Serku is allowed to look into what is stored inside the Jhuku. This criminal may or may not have existed on previous cycles. It may even have occured that previous cycles never had an Oriru Serku or it could have been named differently or composed of different races compared to the original Oriru Serku.

You may also ask, if we rewind time and send him outside of the universe so that he is unaffected, wouldn't there be two of them to exist? and so on. You are aware that it takes thousands or maybe even millions of years for each cycle, correct? Thus, the Jhuku passes on the information to his decendant, which will then be passed on to his decendant, and so on. When a cycle is performed, the Jhuku of the previous cycle, which is the ancestor of the current Jhuku, will have their memories and DNA storage wiped completely thereby stripping them of their position as the Jhuku.

You can use this representation for easy reference

CYCLE ZERO:

A (first Jhuku)

CYCLE 1 BEGINS:

A > passes to > B > passes to > C

CYCLE 2 BEGINS:

C > passes to > D > passes to > E
A > memory and DNA wiped > can live a normal life the has a child > B > then has a child C

CYCLE 3 BEGINS:

E > passes to > F > passes to > G
A > memory and DNA wiped > can live a normal life and has a child > B > then has a child C

CYCLE 4 BEGINS:

G > passes to > H

and so on... I hope yo got the idea.

I'll keep holding onto the salt grains in the meanwhile.

One more thing! LAINSY update:
Code:
10/02/2012-03:10:12GMT : FULL DIAGNOSTICS COMPLETED. RESULT : OK - RESOLVED
