The short string of dots and dashes before 'gif' with this spacing is;

.- .-. .--. --. .- -- - . -. ARPGAMTEN Could that be Alternate Reality Prometheus Game Ten' ?

Thanks for the info Ray.. the short answer is yes it could be that.

...if we anagram it we can get many variables like "Mange Trap" "Garnet Map" and "A Gnat Perm" not that gnats like perms. Razz

The barcode theory is great, the concept of binary would be fantastic, the idea of stenography in the gif would have been awesome. The fact that they changed the .gif to "find me" could mean look for my small ass dot on the page or the "code" leads to "website" "crashed ship" .."Jockey beacon"

I wonder why "they" would not just put black and white dot variables "sans the grey" if they wanted straight morse?

Also if you are going to gif a morse code would you not make each dis and dah the same page length? and spaces as such?

You know what.. im pretty good at figuring these hidden code things out....and i got nothin... and i know there are at least 10 people smarter than me on this board..

twinkle twinkle little star how i wonder WTF you are?

Strange, I got Morster to try it out and at first it was inconclusive but after a few adjustments I got the word 'understood' and then a whole sentence 'should we settle on the' and then nothing else :/ possibly a fluke so will try to recreate results - if I have any joy I'll try to film what it comes up with.

Eh forget it, it isn't going to work. I'm not the only one seeing the about page background animate (the bubbles moving to the right) am I? I'm just asking as it doesn't seem to do this on my iPad's browser but does on Chrome on my Macbook.

There is an iPhone app called Morster that can convert morse code from a light source through the iPhone or iPad' camera. Just throwing that out there. Wink

This is quite interesting, considering the website is optimized for iPad viewing.
There's js code and even an image for iPad, the one I've attached.

i've tried morsemodem & ledcomm apps last night and they were inconclusive regardless of wpm. this is partly because the greys and irregular patterns were throwing off the dits and dahs.

taking the idea from bruce about lining up the flashing patterns and noting the 16x16 grid pattern on the website, i took mr. toasty's concat.png and placed it along a 16 x 16 pixel square -lining them up all the way down. i noticed at the bottom there are 19 blank spots. it may or may not be coincidence that the morse code from the earlier pattern also had 19 dits and dahs and an underscore preceding it.

since it does not contain a reference marker at the top right corner and the questionable greys i doubt it's a micro qr code.

Will follow along as best I can but can't commit to this today. Sad Perhaps later if it's still unsolved.

i suspected lorem ipsum and found a few phrases on google. but found it suspicious it be found under:

Code:
div class="aboutPeterWeyland"
<h3>
<strong>ABOUT</strong>
WEYLAND CORP..

while some sentences were found, the first latin sentence didn't show in in a search i did.

Today we might get an update then, or maybe tomorrow, if they're adding dummy text.
I still don't quite get how the morse code is deciphered from the layers, but you might have bumped into something, Minz. Did you ignore the mid-gray layers and used only black and white? I can see how the alpha layers could be spaces, now that I think about it.

I tried translating everything into binary code assuming the mid grays as zeros, but I didn't get anything from this:

Quote:
1000000100000000110001000000000100011000000100001000000000100000000100000000100001000010000100000011000000100000000100000000010000111000000000010000100100000000000000100010000000000100000000100000000000001000011000100010000100000000000

And it wasn't going to work anyway seeing as ascii characters are 8-bit and 237 isn't divisible by 8. So it must be morse code.[/code]

note that the block is in a hidden div, other content being similar to visible page content. Pretty sure they just didn't remove it when they updated the about us page. Confused

Thats just lorem ipsum text. A Placeholder that Webdevs use to simulate content on a page.
