At least they were honest about it this time. Frankly, I won't play ANY arg that forces spam auto posts - which makes me not play any games that require facebook or twitter sign ups. Luckily this did have the option to opt out.

Not sure Fox was honest...looks like the same sort of auto-permissions message you get when downloading an Android app or such. Twitter must be stating it up front based upon the access requested, because that was from the Twitter login, not from their site.

FB didn't even ask before requesting a login, which is creepy as well. "Give us your password, then we'll tell you what we intend to do."

I hadn't seen this yet, but I haven't played an ARG since FL, so maybe it's par for the course now. Sad. I usually like a little wine & dine before being asked to put out. PM creators, where did the romance go? I think John Cleese said it best, "What's wrong with a kiss, boy? Why not start her off with a nice kiss?" I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to find the rest of that quote. Smile

It is quite common actually. In this day and age, a lot of companies think the "proper" way to get the word of mouth about a game out there is to FORCE their players to post. Most don't let you know they plan on doing so. At least they were honest about it this time. Frankly, I won't play ANY arg that forces spam auto posts - which makes me not play any games that require facebook or twitter sign ups. Luckily this did have the option to opt out.

on decoding that quickly as usual.

Anyway, I was in on Flynn Lives, and I like me some viral ARG, but I had a question. Anyone else feel a bit creeped out by the permissions they want you to give on FB/Twitter to participate? I opted out and went for the little email link on the bottom of the signup page....but man. Really?

For example:

Nah Jumbo, highly skilled meat puppet I had working for me - I've two others - but don't tell SH, it's too much fun watching him work from the shadows just now.

Is the image stegged?

New computer and the software I used seems to have disappeared from the net.

Yeah, I am kinda hoping there's a reason why stuff is being hidden on the site.

I like that I am feeling drawn in, vis the TED video, but I don't feel invited to stay just yet.

Welp, I had gotten 'EDIR6EQUJ5' but like every other time I didn't even bother Googling it. Ugh. Congrats to everyone with a curiosity greater than mine!

grrr. so yeah, either someone who'd recognize "6equj5" amongst all our various transcription attempts, or someone who googled something close to edir6equj5, would come up to the tipping point... blah.
but cool Cool

Now... will that lead to anything more than a single clip from the film? seems pretty meta. Why would Weyland Industries have an image from our movie?

Confused

I believe the grey areas are the simulated natural transitions that you would see during the use of a signal lamp to transmit morse code. http://morse.tothemathmos.com/

I am very impressed with the work done on this site. Cool

Here is the text I used to decode the morse. White squares I converted to -'s and black to _'s. The grey ones I adjusted depending on the neighbors to get a nice wave form.
