I had an "emergency" team meeting yesterday, and things went down from there. Sorry from keeping you out of the loop for quite a while. Anyways, let me sum up what happened... First, there won't be reports coming in anytime soon. Very sorry for that, don't worry I will compensate you accordingly.
And maybe you ask, why? Well, nobody has been reporting that the systems have gone haywire and that their stuff have gone missing, including some logs, notes, and so forth. Making them making a progress report on the research impossible. Apparently, none of them has been telling anyone of the issue thinking it was isolated to them. They didn't want to tell anyone in fear that they will get snitched and get the blame for it. Honestly, we have protocols and standard procedures for a reason. I still can't believe my entire team has done this.
I have escalated the problem to the department head and will hear from them soon. Really, I can't believe they all lost their documents and files. I'm not even sure why. I have just queried LAINSY and she says the files were not there in the first place. Say what? Where has those files gone? Is FAILTECH security at fault here? Is there some sort of compromise? I am not sure. I have sent a request for further investigation regarding this. Sheesh, I don't know what going on... Years of research gone... How long has this been going on?!
Sorry for my rant, but simply this is just unbelieveable. Can you actually believe this?

Good to have you back Lystella! You might as well make contact with Althea this week. As for right now we seem to be all stalled on our 2nd task because of some holdup on Team Epsilon's end. Althea may give you a mundane task that you can complete right away and you'll probably be done by the time the 2nd task rolls around.
I've been chatting with LAINSY about the log file we're supposed to retrieve:
Quote:
Log generation for LOG00000591F0.log cannot be performed. The log entry has not yet been locked in. I can force to generate the log file for you, however, the file I will generate will indicate that it is not yet locked in and unverified. Additionally, future versions of the log file could possibly be different from the version I will generate. Do you wish to force-generate the log file?
I'm assuming we are trying to get a locked-in/verified log file (i.e. submitted by either Joseph Dillinger or James Barron). So I had LAINSY send a reminder to both Joseph and James to lock in the file. Of course James is missing, but LAINSY got an update from Joseph:
Quote:
Joseph Dillinger has just checked in and noted that log entry lock in cannot be accomplished at the moment. No reason has been stated.
We need to figure out a way to get Joseph Dillinger moving. I suspect he's responsible for the stall Althea was talking about, too. Any bright ideas? I've asked LAINSY if it was possible to lock out Joseph's work account until he verifies the log file, but I'm pretty sure that's going to be shot down.
EDIT: Okay I suggested to Althea to have a status meeting with her team, so hopefully she'll find out what's up with the stalling (and maybe that James has gone AWOL?). Sounds like she's going to move on this:
Quote:
Good suggestion, I should do that later today before we the week end starts. It's been a while since we had a team meeting, everyone's just busy doing their own thing and we've only been seeing each other on the scheduled tests and on-demand. Hopefully, they have something good to say about the backlog of reports they have to hand in. This is not school anymore, and they are getting paid to do things.

Back and in better spirits! ^_^
Currently catching up, and I also followed up on a Cliffside email inquiring about my major (for internship opportunities).
gwah....I missed you all! \(T_T)/

I have had a little conversation with Althea. It doesn't add much that's helpful but I'll post it anyway just for completeness sake. I had asked about the team structure (even specifically mentioned Team Zeta) hoping she would give up some important info...this is what I got.
Quote:
Sure, I don't have the stuff, yet, I need you to work on this week, sadly. So I'd be happy to answer your questions. Well, the number of teams per department depends on the size of the department and number of research projects there are (and the complexity). Typically, there's around 10-70 members per team. Size depends on the kind of project we work on. Team Epsilon, our team, is composed of only 14 people. Not much. On the other hand, Team Alpha has 65 members due to massive project they handle. You may not notice, but teams have some sort of heirarchy... Alpha being the top... and it goes down following the Greek Alphabet. AMSR (Advanced Medical Solutions Research) has 11 Teams from Alpha to Lambda. And yes, Team Epsilon is fifth in the heirarchy. Meanwhile, SCR (Space Communications Research) only has three Teams, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma.
There are often crossovers between teams, usually due to the need of expertise from each team. Team Alpha are experts in the Genetics field, while we at Epsilon are experts in the field of Effects of various Chemicals to the Human Body (essentially, we research and develop various drugs). Well, if you work great with us you'll get a chance to work with other teams, especially if you show expertise in fields that aren't related to ours.
Don't worry, curiosity is a good thing. If you go out of the line in asking, I'll tell you. I won't get mad as long as it's not something offensive or such. As soon as I get the reports in, I'll give one to you to proofread. Not the most interesting job, but we all have to start somewhere.

Been digging into that Team Zeta/Team Epsilon investigation and I figured I'd post what little I've found so far. I asked LAINSY about which project Team Zeta and Epsilon worked on together. First off, I had to specify the Advanced Medical Solutions Research Department, since each department has a Team Zeta & Epsilon. Then LAINSY replied:
Quote:
Team Epsilon is currently assisting with Team Zeta in advancing the HTR Agent Research. Currently, only three of Team Epsilon is actively assisting Team Zeta. Team Epsilon's expertise in effects of chemical susbtances to the human body for medical applications is a great asset for the completion of Team Zeta's research. Joseph Dillinger, Thadjenan Rana, and Wendy Uy are the listed active members of Team Epsilon working with Team Zeta.
There has been no other record of other projects that the two teams has worked together.
Okay so HTR Agent pops up again! Recall Daniel Miller explaining what it was waaay back in Episode 2 I think. And recall the mention of an HTR Agent Live Test in more recent history.
Also note that Joseph Dillinger worked on the project with Team Zeta, the same guy who was working with James Barron before James disappeared. LAINSY sent me a bio of Joseph Dillinger:
Quote:
Employee entry: Jospeh Dillinger
Position: Junior Researcher, Team Epsilon, Advanced Medical Solutions Research Department
Joseph Dillinger was hired on September 2010 to assist in Team Epsilon's research project. He has been mostly working with sample testing and reports directly to Althea Rosso, Team Epsilon's Team Leader. Currently, he is still a part of Team Epsilon. Current whereabouts is on weekend leave and has been airlifted out of the Alberta Facility to Edmonton, Alberta. Activities outside of the facility is unknown. Tracking is available.
I sent this email using my fake FAILTECH employee persona to Althea in an effort to try to get more into the HTR Agent work:
Quote:
I look forward to working with you this week! I'd been thinking over
the weekend about how ambitious this nano-machine technology is. This
could really benefit humanity in so many ways! I work as a volunteer
in the Hennepin County Medical Center's Burn Center in Minneapolis and
I was imagining what a difference it could make if these nano-machines
had the ability to repair scar tissue along with healthy muscle
tissue. I would love to help in any way that I can so just let me
know what you need.
Here's what she said:
Quote:
Awesome! This really a great advancement and would really be happy to see in out in real world being used. But right now, development has slowed down quite a lot. I'm not quite sure why, but I really personally feel we were close to success. And hey, HCMC could really see use for this technology being the top Level 1 Trauma Center in the US. And I'm talking about uses other than our primary objective right now. This technology can help out repair damaged muscular tissues and other various human body parts (heck, maybe it can even be used to cure cancer! If researched further)
I'm still waiting on the reports to be filed in, it's taking my team longer than usual. I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it's because it's a nice day outside today and they're here inside doing their work. Oh well, don't worry, I hope they'll get it done by the end of the week. Once they're in, you wil do one of the least interesting job of proofreading them. I know, I know. We all have to start somewhere. hehe
Sounds like something fishy might be going on, or we are still stalled waiting for more grunt work. Maybe someone else can gain better ground with their persona?

yay! and there's still that "proto" folder.... any idea what it does? Out of all them it's the only one in smaller caps... and with a (creative enough) description "proto"
I remember it from season 1...

As my first task, Althea asked me to test external access of their intranet file storage located at http://intranet.failtechnologies.com/ . Works fine, though the test login she gave seems to be locked out of every folder. The login she gave was amsr0247 Pass: testvol if you want a look.
Pre-post EDIT: Apparently it was supposed to have more permissions than that; they're working on it.

Hello again. I'm diligently working on our objectives and wanted to update you. As you know the first two primary objectives are complete and I'm working on the two secondary objectives now. Do you happen to have a contact for Team Zeta, or should I go through LAINSY? I just don't want to raise suspicions with the AI constructs.
Another thing, how am I supposed to get security clearance for level 2? Any suggestions would be welcomed. You see, I'm new here and have limited contact information. Sure I could go digging for email addys, but would probably alert the wrong people and we don't want that. But if you'd like me to stick my nose where it don't belong I'm more than happy to oblige.

REPLY to me
If you can pull some string with Althea, she should be able to provide you both a contact to Team Zeta and a Level 2 Clearance. Yeah, don't worry much about the AI... They are here to help you perform at your best, the flag issue was more or less a precaution. This is still an excercise, afterall. But, I'd still like to see everything go well as if it was an actual mission.
LAINSY is a really good resource, and could probably do a couple of chores for you if you ask her. She is aware of this excercise and will perform accordingly.
Will have to think how to approach Althea when I have more free time.

Yes, the unFiction forums automatically make the @ symbol into SPLAT for email addresses so expect to see that a lot in posts, both here and in the other threads in this forum.
