I stared at that video for quite awhile- yes that is new- the medium black sphere. And the grid lines are gone?

edit- Where is the video from? I just looked at timeline and corp investor page- and they look like old with grid & no black sphere.

The person who swings the long metal bar or whatever it is, is Shaw. My guess is this takes place after she's gone through the table/tentacle thing.

And yeah, the tentacle seems to have uh..grown quite a bit when you see it thud against the door's glass that Shaw is looking through. I love the soft-tissue, seemingly vulnerable skin of the proto-xenomorph (if that's what this really is; seems so).

In another interview, Benedict Wong quipped about the film being about how the Alien's mom and dad came together:

Quote:
Back in April last year we learned that Benedict Wong had been cast in Prometheus and that his character name is Ravel, but there's been very little news around the British actor since.

On Saturday morning he turned up on UK radio station BBC 6 Music for a quick chat with comedian Peter Serafinowicz.

Although the interview can be considered more as a cheerful chat between two good friends, Wong did give away some interesting hints about the connection between Prometheus and Alien.

When asked if Prometheus is a prequel to Alien, with a little hesitation he replies:

"Yeah... I don't... it's before, yeah. So it's in old space. Obviously set in the future, and before the time of Alien. Um... I can't really talk about it [laughs]."

Peter Serafinowicz then goes on to ask directly whether or not we'll see the famous alien in it:

"So, it's like an alien rom-com of how the mum and dad met."

http://www.alienprequelnews.com/2012/02/benedict-wong-its-about-how-aliens-mum.html

Seems suggestive of what some others have speculated on; Holloway is infected, has sex with Shaw, and the parasite metabolizes inside her, then once its removed, all hell breaks loose.

And I am certain that while we chase our tails on all this, that there is some whopping plot chunks Scott has kept a clamp down on.

No one wanted to cross him with outing plot details for this production, that much has been obvious from Day One.

There is a new tweet from @Promethuesthemovie, directing to the Timeline:

On this day in 2015, Weyland installs orbital solar panels to gather renewable energy. Read more milestones here: (timeline link)

I still have trouble scrolling past 2070 .

@Jane Smith: KABOOM! You found Pierce; cool!

I can't remember where it was that I saw this, but I read a brief interview with Pierce where he said:

• that he played a pivotal role in the film, and

• he was only onscreen less than 2 minutes.

Gears are turning!

Furthermore I don't agree with the theories about someone turning into the Space Jockey or even using the suit, seeing as it's too big and the whole idea of a character "turning evil" for that purpose seems far fetched in my opinion, and it goes in hand (explicitly or not) with the alleged leaked script already debunked by Jon Spaihts himself (and which I'm sure it didn't include Peter Weyland anyway, nor the creatures we've seen, nor the ship crashing).

LV-426
Planetoid (moon)

I am convinced the planetoid LV-426 as described in Alien is the same planetoid the Prometheus lands on in the Prometheus movie. There is a slim possibility that they land on one of the other two smaller planetoids orbiting the ringed gas giant. The ringed gas giant can be clearly seen in the Prometheus trailers and the opening scenes of the Alien movie.

tv spot 1 is new to me. they snuck four blue frames in the middle of that one. spot 2 was posted the other day.

and, i think i see tic tacs. Smile

Un-lurked: Not sure if someone said this before but it appears to me like an ultrasound a la Alien 3. BTW I'm the same guy (@Jason_Diaz) that unlocked the 3rd image, comma FTW, which was discovered out of order IMO, which explains the cluster-fudge of discrepancies in the PP page. Huge fan of this website!

Re: Peter Weyland and Prometheus

forethought: my statements below are purely speculative. Smile

If so, was Peter 'spreading his bets' by attempting to fix the atmosphere (or learn if it's possible) while also firing a second medical round to create the magic cancer bullet? If it's his mission to build better worlds, what is prompting that desire, personally or professionally? Is Peter attempting to (re)give the gift of life back to Earth in any way he can?

weyland's speech is one of hubris and in light of his past accomplishments. it's his attempt of becoming a god, seeing a forward direction of using technological tools that originally derived/sprouted historically from the first gift of fire. he is making a connection from the gods to becoming gods -a 'vertical'. in his vision it's one where we create androids in our own image and create worlds and live longer and better lives to experience the fruits of our labours.

FilmEdge wrote:

If Earth is still shot, then Peter will find other worlds to make habitable and move people there?

he's making a business of becoming a god. all his efforts and inventions are to perpetuate the sustaining of weyland industries. making planets habitable is good business. having androids as backup workforce is good business. having people live longer lives, resulting in a larger population creates a demand for living off-world, which in turn, creates jobs and the need to search for other worlds to live in and explore. while shopping for an ideal world, each world may, in theory, compete with other 'better worlds' for customer population.

FilmEdge wrote:

Yet... in the recent live chat with Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof for the trailer premiere, Scott confirmed that Guy Pearce would appear as Peter in the film (which takes place around 2085 per their chat). Peter should be 20 years dead by then, yet Scott stated in a very cagey reply to a fan question, "by that time Mr. Pearce is a slightly older man. I'm not going to go any farther than that."

So, is the flipside of Peter Weyland's 'obsession' with preserving life a factor in attempting to prolong or extend his own life?

Yet by 2085, "Mr. Pearce is a slightly older man" than he appeared in 2023 (age 32) when he should be dead 20 years already?

one of prometheus' godly powers was the gift of foresight. peter has foresight to do what he did accomplish in the timeline for a bigger purpose -one of worlds beyond worlds.

a theory would be that while in stasis, a number of inventions and algorithms embedded in the company(objective, strategy, goals, business culture) were already made to perpetuate more accomplishments where he gets credit in the patents.

consider the possibility that prometheus is named for a reason. the goal is perhaps, not only the gift of foresight -as in the myth, but a cascade of strategic actions:
find the gods -> steal 'fire' from the gods -> gift to mankind -> worshipped/honoured by mankind -> 'he who has the most toys wins'.

a going theory with a number of fans already is that peter weyland is in stasis during the time of the movie and that there is a reason(undisclosed) for that. perhaps cloning for regenerative organs(liver) has a theme more in itself than evidently seen at this time. some have noted parallels with apple but i don't know how far they might take it if that is true.

how peter weyland plays into that is certainly the question which the movie should try to address. in the trail it says 'the king dies' while a view of a waterfall and some ailing human is looking at his hand.

after all, the trick, potter, is not minding that it hurts.

It could also be a moon of the planet they are currently flying over. But it looks too big to be a moon.

Moons do have atmospheres. And I have not seen, heard, or read anything that states 100% they are landing on a "Planet".

If there is such a notation...please post it, and trout me...as I may need another stuffed trout for my other wall.

Nah, there isn't, as far as I'm aware. They've stated that where they're going "won't be the same planet as Alien" but that's about it.
Let's not forget about the big white saucer in the sky, from the trailer. We haven't even remotely theorized about it yet.

There's certainly nothing to stop it being a moon. Europa is one of the most likely places to support life in our solar system and that's "only" a moon.

@RR

Man- you've got to write "too" or I don't catch it! (Sorry, I see that a lot and it makes me jump about.)

Hard to tell- moon/planet or planet/moon from the trailers & picture.

You fixed it before I posted! Laughing

Maybe that particular android was designed to look like him, or the younger him at least? That would make sense as why would he want to have his brain morphed into what's ostensibly his son?
