At this point I am tired of sorting through tic-tacs but both starmaps seem the same (have the same 9 spheres in the same 4 orbital paths) EXCEPT that spheres on the US star map have 8 DISTINCT countdowns.

No, not this time, but maybe later.
You're right, I stand corrected. I just checked and the 3 spheres whose countdowns should have ended at 20:00 central have simply RESET, as you posted.
Gah. So where does that leave us?
-3 spheres whose countdowns reset at 20:00 central (02:00 UK) everyday
-1 sphere whose countdown resets at 02:57 central (08:57 UK) everyday
-4 spheres whose countdowns reset (I'm guessing) every 4 days?
The 9 spheres (including the unlocked "Week 1" sphere) are arranged into 4 orbital paths.
3 of the orbital paths run counterclockwise, while only one runs clockwise.
Spheres grouped in the same orbital path have different countdowns, except for the path in which the "Week 1" sphere lies (where the other 2 spheres both have the weird/unknown countdown.)
There are 7 pictographic/logographic symbols (tic-tacs) used in the 9 spheres, 2 of them are used twice (though the spheres that share the same symbol do not share orbital paths or countdowns.)
The pictographic/logographic symbols seem to be the same as those from the Orrery image. They may have been inspired by cuneiform, but are certainly not cuneiform.
Why are there only 3 distinct countdowns if the remaining spheres represent 8 coming weeks/reveals? Will a sphere simply unlock itself when it's countdown reaches zero during it's designated week?
I apologize for the randomness of my tic-tac related queries and observations.
I don't send out the fish barrel often but I posted this just one page ago, we gotta start reading the backpages folks

Agreed.
I'm glad to have new tic-tacs to puzzle through, even if they are just tic-tacs.

Understood, ObFuSc8, and my comments weren't addressed to you specifically. Just quoted you for context and a springboard to the idea that I wouldn't be surprised if the two accounts spearhead their own initiatives while allied in the same larger goal.
Either way, it's something NEW and it certainly implies a set timeline for more releases of materials, which is more than we new a couple days ago... even if they don't arise strictly from the ARG. I'm sure the game is on a similar if secret track of its own.

So the fact that the PROMETHEUS UK FB account is releasing/promoting this app makes total sense in many aspects. It also doesn't mean that this new app is either unrelated or contradictory to the current (if stalled) ARG game for the film. On the same hand, it may never connect to it either.
I suspect that the UK Facebook entity may be used later to publicize international (Europe-specific?) promotions for the film which may be tied to this new app, and perhaps some of these promotions (screenings? etc.) may only be applicable to the international market. Just as a US-only promotion would likely be publicized on the US account for PROMETHEUS in theory.
Studios take a big chance and have to work very hard to coordinate one truly global publicity campaign for a film, and the costs are greater accordingly. I think back to the ARG for TRON:LEGACY which truly ran on a global, simultaneous scale. They have some advantages but also have their own breed of problems to coordinate from the inside. Often it's easier and more economical to simply promote the film separately for the two major markets, even if some aspects overlap.
One possibility, anyway.
Yeah, I get that. I wasn't saying that Discovering Prometheus being released by PROMETHEUS UK FB didn't make sense or it's unrelated or contradictory. I just meant that Discovering Prometheus would likely be complementary to and run parallel with Project Promeheus, though it didn't seem like they'd be interlinked.
In the interim @PrometheusMovie has now also tweeted:
@PrometheusMovie wrote:
Learn more about #ProjectPrometheus on the "Discovering Prometheus" Facebook app! http://on.fb.me/HU7pcz
This goes along with Project Prometheus & Discovering Prometheus being complementary /parallel, though this tweet even seems to hint they may be interlinked.

Ah, but then Flynn Lives was of a completely separate class.
EDITED TO ADD:
Ugh, I am such a dullard. The tweet I posted above links to a NEW "Discovering Prometheus" app on the Prometheus FB page. This is the same star map (same 9 spheres/orbital paths) EXCEPT that there are 8 distinct countdowns.

I agree they totally seem like they should be ARG related, the fact that only @UK_Prometheus has tweeted about it and the app is only on the Prometheus Movie UK FB page makes me think this is a Prometheus UK FB exclusive and won't tie into the Project Prometheus viral.
Or maybe I've spoken too soon? Just as I was about to hit "submit" @PrometheusMovie tweeted back to me:

I think we can divine a couple of things from this new development:
I've noticed that most of the time studios promoting movies via FB have set up separate FB accounts for 'domestic' and 'foreign' promotion. This usually translates to a U.S. account and a U.K. account.
Studios do treat and run their domestic and international publicity separately in most cases, as often release dates are different, campaigns vary quite a bit between the markets, and promotional details run on different timelines.
So the fact that the PROMETHEUS UK FB account is releasing/promoting this app makes total sense in many aspects. It also doesn't mean that this new app is either unrelated or contradictory to the current (if stalled) ARG game for the film. On the same hand, it may never connect to it either.

Green orb also evident on lower right of the app...Wonder if that will come into play. As far as the WY logo...not sure...description of movie mentions "two competing corporations......" so is there another? Or do them end up merging at some point DURING the movie?

"Discovering Prometheus" countdowns
Yoko99 wrote:
-3 items that count down to roughly 10 hours and 30 minutes from now
-1 item that counts down to roughly 17 hours and 30 minutes from now
and then those weirdly formatted countdowns which are the exact same for 4 items. They all ended with ...73:4 a few minutes ago and now it's gone down to ...70:4. It is definitely counting down as well.
So what, will each of these items represent a week? Like that first unlocked one that says Week 1?
JustThinking wrote:
Would seem like these would be the countdowns to each week's sphere being opened.
These are good questions, but I don't think each of the spheres/items shown represent one week.
There are 9 spheres/items (tic tacs ) total, including "Week 1". As Yoko99 already posted:
-3 spheres whose countdowns end at 20:00 central (02:00 UK)
-1 sphere whose countdown ends at 02:57 central (08:57 UK)
-4 spheres whose countdown I think ends Mon April 9 at 01:57 central (07:57 UK)
All of the countdowns seem to terminate within this week, not at points weeks in the future. So I'd guess that each of the spheres will link to an image, clip, pictogram or other mythology related info, with links going live when the respective countdown ends (all for this week). We may get a new set of spheres/items (tic tacs) each week.
Even if my guess about the timing of the 4 unknown countdowns is off, it doesn't seem likely that they'd open successive weeks since since there are only 4 of them (4 weeks would only take us through the week of May 3rd) and their countdowns are identical.

On the facebook thingy, they are usung the weyland yutani logo as placeholder instead of weyland coro logo. Probably just another inconsistancy

that app looks very suspiciously ARG-relevant, like.
Could be that it's actually not, of course, being a Facebook exclusive.
Oh, yeah and obviously Prometheus Movie UK happily tweets about it:
