Yeah...it's been used. If you go to the very first post in this thread there's a link to a Google spreadsheet that lists, alphabetically, all of the films that have been used so far. I'm not sure if there's a rule for when this happens...I'd say since you didn't know about the spreadsheet you should take a mulligan and give it another shot.

It's easy to check whether a movie's been used. Just look for it at:
http://tinyurl.com/yfzvtz (The link is always available in the fist post of this topic.).
If you're a Googlephobe, the only way to check is by using the handy-dandy forum search function. (Always available as part of my Sig.).
