No and no. And yet, each of the three guesses so far have some of the right elements: This movie does have a strong female lead character finding something ancient and dangerous, a battle that could determine the fate of all humanity, and things not of this world.

Your friend is not correct, but this film certainly has enough Tomb Raider-like qualities to say that you are in the ballpark.

It indeed does that well, and also does a very nice job of examining the tension between science and faith, and how each view the world a little differently.

On with the show: This is the last DVD I have at hand, so if I'm going to keep playing I'm either going to have to buy some more, or use snaps from the web:

You got it xn. One of my all time favorite movies -- the only one I've seen that captures the Eureka moment of science. And one of the only movies where I thought it was complimentary to the book, not a huge let down.

You're up!

Contact ... it's John Hurt playing that evil genius, S.R. Hadden Smile

BTW, while I liked this as a film, I liked it even better as a novel.

So simple, even a caveman can get it. (That's sort of a U.S. only joke).
You're up, Neanderthal.
