Sorry I was so freaked out yestereday, that email scared the crap out of me, and I had to go hide for awhile. Yucky, Inky and Gala helped a lot.
I know a lot of you tried to contact me yesterday and I apologize for not being online and talking. I will try to be better about reaching out. Maybe Uncle Frank's conspiracy stuff is rubbing off on me, I am a little nervous about talking to peeps I don't know good.
Here is the email I got since some asked to see it:
Dear Ms.________,
I trust you are well. I know you have been busy. Perhaps you remember me? I remember you and your little daughter so well. You seemed frightened of me but you needn't be.
I would like to establish your location is valid. It is so hard to trust sometimes, no? Circumstances force us together again. I will be in touch.
"Nico"
Yucky traced the headers but he says it could be sent from anywhere so theres nothing to prove its Nico or its not him. I sent him an email back and asked him to prove who he is before I talk to him any more.
Interesting...

I know exactly what you mean -- the commuting issue is going to be huge. I have friends who commute from South Jersey to to New York City every day for work. That's, like, 90 minutes each way. Sure, there are buses, but who knows if there will be room (everyone will switch to mass transit, right?) even if there is enough gas on the East Coast to keep the mass transit running (fingers crossed that the government would set up some kind of priority system??) But check this out, one of the ideas that my friend Simon had was to camp at work. Bring a sleeping bag and literally stay at work all week. That's his plan if things really hit the fan. Of course, he's single and doesn't have kids or pets to come home to. I don't know what your situation is. But maybe it's an option to consider... also, I am hoping people will open up their homes to boarders if necessary. Anyway, I'm rambling-- I have so many ideas tumbling out because this is So Big and there are so many different everyday issues to deal with. I want to hear more though about what you're planning to do -- would camping at work or looking for boarding nearby work for you?
My response:

Re: camping
I'm probably going to try and get a job in town here. I can walk to work then. But I'm a little worried as to the being isolated part. My town only has 3000 people so it's still pretty small.
I may go live in the nearby city for the summer, lots of sublets for the summer. Any ideas which systems will still be working on April 30? I keep thinking worst case scenero. Will I even have a job...tourism will disappear so it'll be very different.
Yep so I hope mpathytest keeps talking...I'm warming up to her. I think she's connected to Nico though. I have a bad feeling about this....
I'm on my lj all the time so feel free to add me. I'm coffeegirl18 on there as well.
*yawn* Night I've gtg....

Don't think I've seen this posted yet. mPathy's current away message:

Wow -- wrapping my brain around this history. Is the challenge of energy the "moral equivalent of war"?? Well, I have a feeling we - inifinityTSOC! - are going to do a lot better this time.

This probably has nothing to do with anything, but I figured I might as well post it just in case. I was researching the photobucket account with Nico's picture in it. The username is "InisCool", which isn't very common on Google. However, there is http://iniscool.com , which says that "The Island of Inis Cool" is coming soon. More intriguingly, there's this: http://www.scottaltman.com/iniscool.htm
The first picture makes me wonder.
Probably just a coincidence, but like I always say, you never know.

So a lot of us have spoken with mpathytest (Evie) tonight...
I also spoke to her tonight....but again, my bad habit self forgot to save the chat. I was going to post it like everybody else did. Sorry!
Anyways, to sum up the convo. I had with her, she basically just stated how she is working on her Hacker plan, and has big ideas of her own, (Maybe chuckles has influenced her). No other big news really. She also pushed the issue that we need to get MORE people involved in this, and I cannot agree more. I suggested that I would make some flyers, post bulletins on myspace, and whatever else I could think of and she seemed pretty happy, so that's what I am going to do these next few days. I am taking this to a new level and am going to play the role of the "informer."
Let's keep open minds. Tell all we know. Make a difference.
lirath (11:01:18 PM): Good evening
lirath (11:02:18 PM): I'm interested in being involved in the WWO group. Have been in contact with a few others who are as well
mPathytest (11:03:52 PM): excellent!
mPathytest (11:04:06 PM): have you taken my "what's your science fiction author alter ego" test yet?
lirath (11:03:50 PM): I'm a professional librarian from the detroit area
mPathytest (11:04:17 PM): oh terrific
mPathytest (11:04:23 PM): we are so going to need your information skills
lirath (11:04:24 PM): yep...posted. PJFArmer is sci-fi
lirath (11:04:31 PM): lol
lirath (11:04:41 PM): got capital crazy
lirath (11:05:13 PM): Well, there;s the whole info/research thing
lirath (11:05:43 PM): but in general, librarians are community and service oriented, so I hope my attitude helps too
mPathytest (11:06:07 PM): that's excellent, definitely
mPathytest (11:06:14 PM): you will be right where people will be looking for help
mPathytest (11:06:20 PM): from their community leaders and public resources
lirath (11:06:32 PM): I mentioned it in my LJ, but being from Detroit, the effects on the auto industry could be frightening
mPathytest (11:07:15 PM): yes! you are right
mPathytest (11:07:53 PM): i wish detroit were turning out more hybrids
lirath (11:07:37 PM): I'll try to be the eyes and ears here. I'm getting the word out to a number of folks, but the general reaction is skepticism
mPathytest (11:07:56 PM): although who knows if that is the solution
mPathytest (11:08:07 PM): i know, i think a lot of folks are in denial
mPathytest (11:08:09 PM): change is hard
lirath (11:07:56 PM): indeed
mPathytest (11:08:17 PM): but that's one reason I've been sharing so many news links
mPathytest (11:08:21 PM): the problem is huge, global
mPathytest (11:08:28 PM): and we have been really insulated from it here in the uS
mPathytest (11:08:47 PM): to be honest, i'm scared Americans aren't ready to deal with this
mPathytest (11:09:02 PM): we'll just invade Mexico for their oil
lirath (11:08:50 PM): I actually wrote to Illiana (roughly same geographic location) and indicated a need to expand beyond the C in 8tsoc
mPathytest (11:09:09 PM): oh god, did I really just write that? i shouldn't be so synical
mPathytest (11:09:22 PM): YES
mPathytest (11:09:29 PM): infinityTSOworld!
mPathytest (11:09:35 PM): that would be great
lirath (11:09:42 PM): I suggested SAFE - solidarity amid the fuel emergency
lirath (11:10:00 PM): I think it pushes the right buttons
lirath (11:10:13 PM): I'm no marketing genius however
mPathytest (11:10:48 PM): oh i love that
mPathytest (11:10:53 PM): that's beautiful!!
mPathytest (11:10:54 PM): wow
mPathytest (11:11:12 PM): have you posted that on your journal yet? i will definitely link to it
lirath (11:11:03 PM): well - safe gives the striving for security aspect
lirath (11:11:29 PM): solidarity is what we need. it also eliminates borders
lirath (11:11:35 PM): I'll post in a few
mPathytest (11:12:00 PM): great
mPathytest (11:12:02 PM): email me a link
mPathytest (11:12:06 PM): mpathytestSPLATgmail.com
mPathytest (11:12:15 PM): i better go -- i have to look into this whole Nico email thing
mPathytest (11:12:18 PM): talk to you later!
lirath (11:12:07 PM): gmail good stuff seeya!

Another short conversation with mpathy. At this point, Evie is probably my favorite character. She's certainly the most friendly.

MMOMordy: I was talking to Yuckymuck this morning.
mPathytest: you must be a fellow (infinity)TSOC
mPathytest: oh, cool
mPathytest: well I am like you-- hearing it all through the grapevine
mPathytest: to be honest i've been so busy working on my hackers manifesto for a WWO that I've been a bit out of the loop
mPathytest: I'll ping gala later and try to find out what's up
mPathytest: feel free to dish to me directly of course if you know more than i do, lol
MMOMordy: all i heard was that he said something about confirmed addresses.
MMOMordy: yuckymuck hadn't heard anything, but he had tried to trace the email addy.
MMOMordy: apparently it went back to Spain or something, but he couldn't get anything on it. you're probably the better hacker tho.
mPathytest: hmmm yeah they should really keep me better informed on this stuff. they're probably still ticked about the group blog hack, oh well. safety in numbers!!
MMOMordy: definitely. if you find out anything, lemmi know. the more people working on a problem, the better the chance we can figure it ut.
MMOMordy: right?
mPathytest: yes yes EXACTLY
mPathytest: okay i'll ping you if i hear anything
MMOMordy: cool.
