According to the whois, the site was registered and done yesterday and the registration is private. So now we have a name, JB.
JASON BOURNE!!!! He he...I wish...
lol, maybe not too off there! Maybe the "J" in JB DOES stand for Jason. Or, JASON.
I had thought that maybe Tripoli lined up with one of the X's on the map, but I guess not, after overlaying the two (thanks to Google maps). Rargh. Someone's got to talk to Jeff.
EDIT: Upon looking at his blog, obviously someone did (thanks Ayeso). He replied pretty plainly, just standard stuff, but here's something I found interesting.

I was just gonna say that! If it's supposed to be letters it could be hn, or m with a long top. Or maybe it's could be a text representation of a nuclear power plant. It just reminds me of a long smoke stacky-thingy or whatever it's called that emits smoke from a factory.

I just noticed the favicon for the bullerman site (favicons are those little images that show up in your favorite listing for a site):
I know...that's why it was a joke...*sniff* I guess I'm just not funny.
Anyway, I've been madly Googling things I could think of concerning Tripoli, Iowa and this case. I've tried things with nuclear power and DoD and come up with nothing. Back to the drawing board for me...

Yeah, it helped when I stopped looking at maps of the Middle East and tried closer to home. Here's everything you ever wanted to know about Tripoli, IA (pop. 1274), and much, much more:
Yup that was very misleading... BUT... I tried as much as I could with reference to it to no avail... I will try asking jeff what he makes of it.
