The louse idea makes me think that that is perhaps what carries the virus. Like the Black Death-- it picks up the virus from sucking the blood of other animals, then passes it on to the next creature it bites.

EDIT: Never mind that theory-- according to Wikipedia, the crab louse lives only on humans....

Looks like you have an image of a louse or some other arthropod. More specifically maybe a crab louse.

From what I remember, this is how bombs like the Tybee H-Bomb work. The "expanding of hot gas/combustion" makes the hydrogen (or uranium, or whatever) unstable, producing the big blast. But don't quote me on that Smile

As for Lazaretto (from the address on the letterhead), it fits right in with the virus topic:

deciphering the message
I found this definition of deflagratio (an old latin word):

deflagratio -onis, f. burning, destruction by fire.

I think the other word deflagration is another form of the word.

In reading an article on the danger of the Tybee Bomb, I noticed this paragraph:

The spread of heavy metals leaching from the bomb was also a low risk, the inquiry said, and the conventional explosives, if left undisturbed, posed no hazard. However, if there were an attempt made to move the bomb, believed to be up to 15ft under the sea bed, there could be an accidental detonation of the TNT, which could seriously damage the regional aquifer and local drinking water supplies.

I mention it because the above definition of deflagratio says that it is not to be confused with a detonation, although the author could be transposing words.

Also, the name Tybee Bomb stood out while researching. Can Bow"ty" relate to "ty"bee?" "Bo" for bomb? W for Wassaw?

I can't tell if there is anything missing or not. sometimes with <> stuff can go missing. If nothing is missing then I think it says:

I've got company and don't have time to look it up. but here is a google search phrase. The best I can figure out is it is close to detonation. So we need to find out what causes it and send him the answer.

Huh. So it sounds like whatever Lazarus is, it's not going to let Jacob get into it.
That means, though, that Lazarus is clearly NOT connected to Bowty, because Bowty apparently values Jacob quite a lot.
So we've got Lazarus and Stuart on one side, Bowty/Jacob on the other....

Sunday is the deadline for all of those on the roster to have their pictures in and then they will get a chance to ask a question.
Sorry I got that wrong. the 26th is the deadline to have our pics in then once he acknowledges that then we can ask a question.

Sunday will probably be another puzzle. just guessing.
