The louse idea makes me think that that is perhaps what carries the virus. Like the Black Death-- it picks up the virus from sucking the blood of other animals, then passes it on to the next creature it bites.
EDIT: Never mind that theory-- according to Wikipedia, the crab louse lives only on humans....

MrToasty
Looks like you have an image of a louse or some other arthropod. More specifically maybe a crab louse.

A triggering of a low explosive causes deflagration (not to be confused with detonation). A low explosive is when a substance becomes ignited and burns very quickly. It then produces alot of expanding hot gas. It then undergos combustion. This triggering is a decomposition event and a combustion, not a shockwave but can still be quite a violent event.
From what I remember, this is how bombs like the Tybee H-Bomb work. The "expanding of hot gas/combustion" makes the hydrogen (or uranium, or whatever) unstable, producing the big blast. But don't quote me on that
As for Lazaretto (from the address on the letterhead), it fits right in with the virus topic:
Quote:
A lazaretto or lazaret is a quarantine station for maritime travellers. Lazarets can be ships permanently at anchor, isolated islands, or mainland buildings. Until 1908, lazarets were also used for disinfecting postal items, usually by fumigation.[1] A leper colony administered by a Christian religious order was often called a lazar house, after the parable of Lazarus the Beggar. -wikipedia
Quote:
In the United States, the Philadelphia Lazaretto was the first edifice of its kind in the country.
I found this definition of deflagratio (an old latin word):
deflagratio -onis, f. burning, destruction by fire.
I think the other word deflagration is another form of the word.
Edited:
Ok, found this cause:
What is the cause of deflagratio (latin word) or deflagration?
A triggering of a low explosive causes deflagration (not to be confused with detonation). A low explosive is when a substance becomes ignited and burns very quickly. It then produces alot of expanding hot gas. It then undergos combustion. This triggering is a decomposition event and a combustion, not a shockwave but can still be quite a violent event.
For example, firearms rely on deflagration.
A deflagration is an explosion in which the shockwave of the explosion reaches each part of the explosive before the reaction front, because the reaction front is travelling more slowly than the speed of sound in the substance.
Edited Again:
In reading an article on the danger of the Tybee Bomb, I noticed this paragraph:
The spread of heavy metals leaching from the bomb was also a low risk, the inquiry said, and the conventional explosives, if left undisturbed, posed no hazard. However, if there were an attempt made to move the bomb, believed to be up to 15ft under the sea bed, there could be an accidental detonation of the TNT, which could seriously damage the regional aquifer and local drinking water supplies.
I mention it because the above definition of deflagratio says that it is not to be confused with a detonation, although the author could be transposing words.
Also, the name Tybee Bomb stood out while researching. Can Bow"ty" relate to "ty"bee?" "Bo" for bomb? W for Wassaw?
Bo(Bomb)W(Wassaw)ty(tybee)

I can't tell if there is anything missing or not. sometimes with <> stuff can go missing. If nothing is missing then I think it says:
Quote:
It causes deflagration, what is it? reply with an answer.
I've got company and don't have time to look it up. but here is a google search phrase. The best I can figure out is it is close to detonation. So we need to find out what causes it and send him the answer.
Well Isabella last name is Bottan, Isabella Bottan. So it is either her husband, brother, father or herself who Endrid is talking about. I'm a bit lost but it makes sense, now I wait patiently for Sunday.
By the way Endrid put up something new:

:I'm sorry that I have been so indirect, but Dr. Bottan could have been reading what I was sending you.
:We need to keep our contact a secret as to not compromise the safety of your world.
:Endrid out.

Huh. So it sounds like whatever Lazarus is, it's not going to let Jacob get into it.
That means, though, that Lazarus is clearly NOT connected to Bowty, because Bowty apparently values Jacob quite a lot.
So we've got Lazarus and Stuart on one side, Bowty/Jacob on the other....

Await next message from Endrid Mercy to be posted here.
This site is secure; Bottan cannot gain access.

I wonder what Sunday is about. Hi everybody, by the way. Loooong time lurker, though it'd be fun to play for once . I haven't gotten a reply from bowty yet though.
Sunday is the deadline for all of those on the roster to have their pictures in and then they will get a chance to ask a question.
Sorry I got that wrong. the 26th is the deadline to have our pics in then once he acknowledges that then we can ask a question.
Sunday will probably be another puzzle. just guessing.
