Hmmm... Maybe my idea of calling him and asking him to switch to Wave wasn't a bad one? The question is, though, can their phone network operate without LAINSY, or is it, like everything else. too tightly connected? Anyone willing to call? I'm too busy right now. Heck, I shouldn't even be on this forum right now. I'm just not too horrible at multitasking.

Excellent point, duke. Maybe there is a way for Miller to get in touch with us -- if he had caller ID on when people called in for the password of that Word document. We'll see if he makes it.

I wished Alex a nice trip. His response:

Yep I will. I'll still have to hear back from Orein on the next step.

It's good to hear the Orein is still in the game, at least.

Seems like you spoke too soon. Most recent addition:

Exactly, so that means if safe locks opens, then it can defrost and spread biohazard

This was added to the end:
Quote:
* Life support disconnected! Running independently
* Facility environmental controls disconnected! Running independently
* Automated doors disconnected! Running manually

Sounds more like they are being disconnected from the central hub than being disabled.

I confirmed the reboot with Alex/Scimitar and reported I gave Dan a heads up to get out of there before the reboot. His response:
Quote:
Ok thanks. Of course he won't die. That wasn't my concern. But then again, just to be safe. But, did you tell him it was me?

And because I had just enough of talking about stupid planet trajectories for the day, I broke the sad news to him: Rolling Eyes
Quote:
Well hey, I figured it was only fair for the puppet to know who's
behind its strings. Why, is Miller not as harmless as he makes
himself out to be?

And his response:
Quote:
I don't really know. But ok, I'll guess I'll have to deal with Miller, soon. Oh, and FAILTECH Emails don't work anymore, well at least right now. No one can receive or send emails using company email.

Hmm. Let's hope Miller finds an alternate way of communication.

EDIT - just asked Alex "Now what?". His reply:
Quote:
I and my own team will have to go Antarctica, that's what. I'll have to check with Miller and make sure this planned operation wouldn't go any more wrong.

Hmm... Sounds to me to be more like restoring a backup than a reboot. What do you guys think?

Let's keep track of the current status of the website/LAINSY. Currently the website says:
Quote:
=== REBOOT SEQUENCE INITIATED ===

I don't know if this page will change or get added to, but you never know.

Ok, I played the "snitch/good guy" and emailed Dan with the following:
Quote:
It would seem we have a splinter. Posse (you know him as Posse, right?) and zeighy (he hasn't emailed you yet) have initiated a reboot on Alex Sword (AKA Scimitar)'s request. They believe they have the best interests of... someone... at heart. Alex and Genus, as well as other FAILTECH employees, have been planning this all from the beginning. They seem to think this is all for the best, somehow. I, personally, am not convinced as they seem to be being purposefully vague. Fortunately, Scimitar did assure us at one point in his convincing measures that any toxins would have been frozen by now in the arctic cold and that no one would die. Supposedly, this is all aimed at somehow initiating some previously disabled LAINSY feature. That's a specific as he would get. Once again, I'm not too sure about any of this.

Just thought I'd let you know that, to my knowledge, those two were the only breakoffs from the group.

Oh just reboot already. I wish I knew how! Simply sending the poem to lainsy@failtechnologies didn't work, I got an "invalid command".

Is this the poem? Or should I be sending something else?
Quote:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
The rain falls from the sky
And the sun rises before noon
The girl who waits
No wizard shall save
Dorothy and her shoe
The Oz gave such a clue

I gave Dan a heads up that Alex Sword was ordering the reboot, so at least he has time to get out of there.

edit - aha, I realize that 'gave' is supposed to be 'is'. But zeighy got it right.

Well, I guess that answers the "WHO"...

Ok, so, who's up for being the ones to "split from the group" and restart LAINSY (after telling Dan that you think you are "doing the right thing"), and who wants to stay on the "team?"

EDIT: I think, like Cherrytree said, the ones to split off should be those who have been less communicative with Dan. This way, he won't assume it's all of us turning, cut his losses, and sever all ties with us.

zeighy? You're still online, right? You haven't emailed him at all, have you? You'd be perfect for the job! (Not that anyone's forcing you, of course)
