Hey guys, 1st post, but old time lurker here and no stranger to ARG's, having crossed blades directly with the rather obnoxious author of The Last Staircase, among others.
First, a salude to the great work you guys have done so far. I've been passively monitoring the viral from a distance, and finally got sucked into it when I ran across and digested this thread earlier this evening.
Abandon all hope ye who eneter here!
This whole thing touches on a subject I've been immersed in all my life, having been a Von Daniken fan since childhood. I know some here are a bit let down by the nuts and bolts of this campaign, but back up now and again, and take in the bigger picture, and you'll realize they have made an impressive show of touching on some of the most fascinating enigmas from the dawn of our species' civilization. These enigmas are true thorns in the side of dogmatic Anthropology, refusing to be explained away, no matter how hard people try to refute them; they simply are what they are, and at the end of the day, I personally don't think we know jack shit about who/what we are, and how we came to be here, so its awesome to see Scott take such a compelling and controversial subject and drag it into the light, for many, the first time they've been exposed to any of it.
So don't let the hyperfocus required to crack the ARG prevent you from appreciating that, is all I'm saying. I take a lot of this for granted having studied all of it for so long, but there is some really fascinating shit for you guys to absorb when time permits, and none of it is fictitious, at least on the part of the Prometheus production team.
To make a contribution here, the first thing I noticed when I hit the Investor Information page was the download option, which to me is the key to everything on this page.
As some others have already noticed, there are ominous discrepancies in the web and jpg data on David 7's emotional values.
There is also this:
What I decided to do was take full screen shots of the entire page, and overlay the jpg's against them, which to me was the most efficient means of discovering any discrepancies. This is made slightly challenging by the fact that none of the elements lay true to one another between web and jpg, they are all fucked up, seemingly by design, but its very obvious that there is a difference in Yytrium values between web and jpg.
Not sure if this means anything, but I would say this is well beyond a frame misalignment error and looks pretty conspicuous to me.
There is also a smaller discrepancy in the Cobalt value as well.
What I orginally wanted to do was generate an animated of the entire page, so anyone could scan and easliy pick up any changes between web/jpg, but doing so will be a task as each element needs to be aligned by hand; *nothing* matches as it should.
So instead, I'll share anything else I discover that really sticks out like this.
For the hell of it, I'll also create on for the David 7 data and post that as well, so the team has a visual reference for that one, too. Given the context of Ash's malfunction, and other anecdotes we know, I don't see this as a red herring. If the trailers show anything, they depict David's role as a rogue saboteur.
I'll also create an overlay of the observed star pattern in the background an juxtapose it against the orion constellation. I can see the similarity, but I don't think its a 1:1 match (three starts in orion's belt, ie), but we'll soon know for sure.
Some random observations not directly relevant to the ARG:
I've seen some comments here and there about the full length trailer's dialogue about a King and his passing. This is voiced by Charlize Theron, and imo, is an obvious reference to Sir Peter Weyland. The poorly resolved data on Weyland's status as living or dead point to what is possibly a large chunk of sub-plot that has been concealed up to now. I'm taking all this in and given the references to Alchemy, and the strange Weyland patents on restoring life, it seems very possible that part of the initiative of the Prometheus expedition is to obtain and apply [insert your choice of words here] to Weyland to bring him back to life. Theron is a Company woman, don't forget that part. She serves Weyland's interests, above all others.
Putting a few bits together, with the Eitr talk here and some speculation about the Ampule Room, in the trailer you see the organic matter organizing on the wall. You then see what appears to be a a bass relief of the Xenomorph, which may or may not be that organic material reacting to the Hominid presence in the chamber. Speculation was the material organizes into a life form best optimized to neutralize the life form it targets. The 'acid for blood'/Eitr thread is kinda neat to consider in that context.
Its also fun to consider that after all the advancements that Weyland made, at the end of his time, same as Newton, he fell onto the ancient texts and turned to Alchemy to preserve his own life, searching the Galaxy for the requisite elements. That possible sub-plot dovetails nicely with classic tragedy/irony tales.
Keep up the good work!
