I'm posting this in the hope that those who weren't in the #heist chat room yesterday afternoon/evening can get caught up somewhat and realize that there is still work to do - the more minds working on this the better.

So, from Virgil's rant yesterday and Scapegoat's post over on the StolenA3.com forum we know that we still haven't "finished" gaining access to all of the directories within Virgil's site.

Virgil states:

committing serious errors of the heart and mind

which led someone (I'm not sure who as I wasn't on chat at the time) to disover that there are two password protected directories other than those listed on the evil cube wiki, that are unsolved.

The are:

I know that xnbomb, as I did, is focusing back on the cube as the usernames and passwords for the other directories that led to the_future all came from there.

Some others on chat thought that Virgil's statement regarding serious errors indicated that the passwords might have something to do with the error messages/time line puzzle. Alc over on stolena3 has started doing a good wrap up of insights/spec derived from Virgil's gameography that also might be related.

Finally, Scapegoat http://forum.stolena3.com/index.php?showtopic=143 proposes a trade in which we find the passwords to two hidden directories and gives us a link to a cutscene from Nisha Chronicles vol. 1. The link to the cutscene (of rather poor quality for what is supposedly a groundbreaking game) http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/dev/approval/russian_mission_cutscene_take196.mov is password protected, username: heart password: mind. Scapegoat promises more goodies if we can gain access to the /heart /mind directories of vkok.com.

Possible passwords are spec'd to be in the following places:
evil cube (aforementioned)
error codes (aforementioned)
gameography
or the Rants due to SG's statement:

It (the above cutscene link) has a username and password. Every TatumSerf knew it because Mr. Psycho ranted about it all the time

Anyway, I hope that this gets the gears turning.

SOLVED by Rowan in #heist, pw: differentstrokes - using a clock based cipher (assign each letter of each word in order, clockwise to the numbers on a clock w/ the first letter of each word being 1, take the letters that correspond to the minute and hour and you get the answer.

After chatting hours away was plowed in solving Journal entries by all the brainpower

If you look at the last Journal entry 00387 the timestamp is actually first...

Subject: The Method for Choosing

When dealing with different groups, sometimes you must take one from each in turn, and repeat that method until everyone is chosen.

With this direction:
Pick first letter from the first four entries then kepp going to get:

From Virgils email to Nisha :

I stared at this document for some time, trying to deduce some sort of pattern in the words. Then I started looking closer at the letters, or more specifically, the number of letters. In the subject line, the number of letters in each word of "I'm Almost Home" are 2, 6, and 4, respectively. Starting with the second letter, then counting 6 letters down, then 4 letters, then repeating the pattern to the end, the extracted letters spell out "verstehen"--it was then I knew I "understood" the pattern. This German word can be used to open ppics.kgb.

So, it should go like this:

Now why couldn't I get that. :?

If you look in the source for http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/the_future/no_whispering.html you'll see that the background is supposed to be http://www.virgilkingofcode.com/696E6E657220636972636C6500/L3_bg_target.jpg .

It comes back as a 404. If you decode '696E6E657220636972636C6500' from hex to ascii, you get "inner circle".

If you take and split out the bits in the rendered html page by color you get

The gray string decodes to : schwarzeweiss
babelfish translates this to : black-white

I don't know if this is just a clue to look at the black and white books from the bookshelf image, or if it is infact the password to something.
