Just recently, studying my Xbox 360, I realized something. On the top, or side, depending on which way you have your 360, are some holes. These holes have some filled in, some not, which relates generally to the final code solved from OurColony. I'm attatching the one good picture that I got.

Now, I only got the Hard-drive side of the 360, and have been having a lot of trouble taking a picture of the other side, so if someone has a 360, maybe you can take some pictures?

There are five layers. Two, and four have two less dots than the others, I believe. Rows 1, 3, and 5 have 38 holes apiece, and rows 2 and 4 have 36 holes apiece. The place that I took a photo of is the only section that had dots in it. I really can't figure this one out. It's up for all to look at.

Sad... the website linked above is boring with little substance. The source code, while trying to be clever, isn't -- it's trite. If this is a game, it certainly isn't creating a friendly environment. I'll pass.

Let me start by saying I don't want to hear any yelling or anything that these guys are fake or anything like that.

I got on AIM today and saw "x011110000" online, he's been refered to as the terminal from AIM which may or may not be related to OC. I started talking with him and it indicated some sort of game might be starting within the next 2 days. Here's some clips from the convo:

Yes, you feel like you should've got more, but didn't others put in as much time as you did? You got a lot more than anyone said would be offered when you decided to start playing the 'game'. If there had been a disclaimer saying "No prizes will be awarded" would you still have played? My bet is yes. Yet they decided (albeit last minute) to give a select few something for their efforts. They didn't have to, they could've just said that there was no prize, yet they did it anyway. Be thankful for what you have.

Let me answer a few of your questions.

There is no way that what any of the players did could compare to the time I had to put in. For most of you OurColony ended in May. This was not the case for me. The first two months were spent answering hundreds emails and instant messages. I was placed in the minds of most of the fanboys as a source of info and/or clues. Now before you guys even start saying I could have just ignored them. No I couldn't! I thought I was being grateful to both M$ and the Colony by doing my best to share the "reward." I'll admit that the flood of emails/IMs did slow to about twenty a week two months after OC ended. However this has not been the case as launch day in the US grew closer, and again with the european launch.

Would I have played knowing that thier was nothing in it for me? That's not fair. Is that not the condition we were all playing under? Which is what I thought we were all in agreement was the puppet-masters' first mistake. To name one "winner" above others. We all expected something more like the end of ilovebees.

Now I know there was not a third question. It's more of a statement, but I still feel I should respond to it. The only give away that reall had been preplan would be the Mountain Dew giveaway. OurColony and Origen happened pretty much spir of the moment. This comes from their own admission. I'll say more on all that later, once I finish the "postmortem." I am also having trouble with your statement, that they at the last minute decided to give a select "few" prizes. Where do you get off calling ten thousand plus Xbox360s given away between only three contests a few. They only had four public giveaways. The only one that did not get one was also the only person that they named personally.

Now do you guys understand why not only I, but Larry Hryb Xbox.com's Major Nelson believe someone screwed up? Did I miss anything?

While it would have been a nice gesture to give you a console I am not surprised they didn't. The prize you won always felt to me like an after thought not something they originally planned. Just a carrot to dangle in front of the rest of us to keep us playing.
Just be thankful you got anything at all. A free trip to CA. to play the 360 before most everyone else isn't bad.
The rest of us spent hours with ourcolony only to get the same info they released minutes later. I understand your disappointment, but really you are the only player I feel that didn't get cheated.

Not that I disagree with you on this, it was a nice trip and all, but you are mistaken about one thing, no I didn't get to play the xbox at all. Only the celebs which were for the most part kept separate from the rest of us got to play the box. The best I got to do was touch the controller. I believe you are correct about my "reward" being an after thought. I was put on a plane at 3am est and rushed from the airport to a "Meet and greet" where we met Trixie and Major Nelson from Xbox.com (Oh boy!) and made to wait around for hours, then later dragged from there to the MTV gig. The "fun" didn't stop there as we were made to wait outside in the rain while they ushered in all the important people. The rest of the night I talked about before, I just omitted the fact that I wasn't even allowed to play any titles or see much more of the box other than the music vis display.

My "reward" was a joke!

Yes I'm bitter, but really with the way this was handled.

I can't say too much as my talks with those actually responsible for OurColony are on going.

Note: This was an internal Xbox marketing and PR project, created and run by someone (By his own admittance) had never worked on a project like it before. Let alone an ARG or Viral Marketing Campaign.
