SUZEE'S RESCUE!

I'm sitting here crying as I type this, so if there are typos or some of it doesn't make sense, that's just too bad.

I am absolutely ecstatic to announce that, after many hours of thorough searching, the local Chicago authorities have found Suzee in Oz Park, in the general area of the Tin Man statue shown in the image found on her web site. She had been buried alive and was found and rescued in the nick of time, as it is almost certain she could not have lasted much longer. Although I don't have any details since it has all happened just today, I am told that she is in serious but stable condition and is extremely dehydrated and emaciated. Thank God, and to all of you, that she was found in time.

I've also been told that a search of Arthur Fanelli's home near Oz Park has turned up nothing, as he has apparently fled, taking clothes and personal belongings with him.

I can't even begin to tell you how relieved and grateful I am that she is safe, although that relief is tempered by the guilt of my role in all of this. Without the work of all of the people online helping to solve this mystery and the cooperation of the local authorities, this situation could have easily turned out tragically different. I honestly don't know how I can ever find a way to thank everyone involved.

Arthur Fanelli is still missing, is this the end?.......

Interesting response from a kidnapper. He threatens me for my shout out, but then entices me to continue... or am I reading too deeply and he is just referring to me/us/ARGTALK as the entity having repressed him before?

I have finally made real contact with the local authorities in Suzee's home town, and they have confirmed that Susan Alison Jones, aged 37, was officially reported missing by her sister last week.

Susan failed to show up for work two days in a row, which prompted the manager of the insurance company she worked for, to call her sister. Susan's house showed no signs of forced entry, and her 2001 Saturn was found locked and undisturbed in her driveway. Although Susan's computer appears to be missing, with cash and valuables in plain sight, police do not suspect robbery as a motive.

I found it extremely difficult to explain the ARG concept to the police, and even more so what exactly my role was in this whole scenario and what I believe may have happened to Suzee. Even though I was left with the impression that they are still a little confused by the genre, I have been assured that they are not strangers to internet related crimes and are working to the best of their abilities to track down "A Fan" and follow the path he has laid for us. By the end of our conversation, they sounded somewhat relieved to finally have a break in the case, and I have since handed over everything that could even remotely be considered a lead and/or evidence, and will continue to cooperate with them until Suzee is found.

I have also informed authorities that we have a community think tank that is working on this as well, and although they express doubts that our commonality will aid us in the search for Suzee, I have more than enough faith in us to go around.

Suzee will be found, and we will be the ones to find her.

I shoulder a lot of the responsibility for the situation in which Suzee now finds herself, and Oldtim3r and I are working around the clock to solve what we believe to be an anagram, but have thus far come up empty handed. Please send any and all information on possible solves to me at argtalk@gmail.com and I will act as a liaison between our community and the police

As with the previous "ransom" communications, the fourth one contained a hidden message - ultimatum.html - leading to a previously undiscovered page on Suzee Jones' own web site. The message was discovered by looking at the different colors on the paw prints in the animated gif file, as explained in this email from an ARGTalk reader:

Taking the color codes of the different colors in the foot/pawprints, and finding out their color codes, then converting that from hex to text, I got: ultimatum.html.
Thanks to Max Steele for that solution.

This secret page has but a single image on it but it's implication is chilling. Both the text, disguised in a Wingdings font, and the image itself convey the message, "Time is running out."

A Decision

The unsettling messages contained in this latest communication from the suspected party behind Suzee's disappearance has left me no choice but to try and do anything and everything possible in what time we have left to try and resolve this situation. I've decided to go ahead and hold an online chat in the next few days, as requested by many ARGTalk readers and as suggested by the voice from the phone number found on a hidden page on Scary Clown's site.

Whether or not the voice is really is the former ARGTalk writer Scary Clown, since he calls himself "myzterious" in the message some ARGTalk readers received, and whether or not he is somehow connected to the kidnapping or the people behind it is yet to be seen. But if it will help in any way, I'm willing to do it, especially if it helps clear the air about the false leads the kidnapper has obviously been planting apparently implicating myself and the other ARGTalk contributors.

I haven't decided on the exact time and day yet but will sometime today. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions as to when it should be, please post a comment here or email me directly at argtalk@gmail.com. I will be trying to make sure that the oldtim3r and HughBriss will be available for the chat and I'll even be reaching out to Scary Clown directly, to inform him of my decision and to invite him to be there.
