I woke up this morning to an email notifying me of an update to the old QU13E thread .

See the update for yourself, but http://splinternails.com is back up, with a gif and a wma file, and a link to an email address.

I've done some simple preliminary investigation this morning, checked the whois for the provider and got a phone number: 14806242598. Calling the number, I just get a sound like a modem, so I doubt there is any luck there, or the accompanying address.

Also, I noticed that http://qu13e.com is up. I thought I remember it going down, but in my last post in the previous thread I didn't mention it being down. But the fact that it's even up makes me wonder if this is a continuation of the old mystery or a whole new one, although I've also notice that japanonymous is still down.

Hoping that some of the people from the old group get back in on this one and we can also get some fresh blood on this so we can do better this time around!

It's Halloween again and sparkrent/qu13e has made a return.
There's an archived forum for this here .
Since there's only a few of us from a few years ago still around, I/we wanted to post this here to let those interested get involved.

You can find out all the past details by looking at the archived forum and what's brand new is here in Sparkrent's LJ. One of the most promising indications that he/she/it is making a return is the reappearance of www.qu13e.com where it all started and which has been off line for a long time.
There's nothing on the site as of right now, but it's there.

There is very possibly a puzzle of some sort in one or both of the LJ posts so please feel free (and encouraged) to post your spec.

Just checked Sparkrent's LJ for updates as I occasionally do, and was pleasently suprised to find one. :)

The beggar suddenly did not seem a beggar anymore; as his tone deepened, making him sound abnormally severe, the old man began to take on an almost menacing demeanour. I found myself fascinated by the immediate transformation, and desperate to hear what he had to reveal.

"Yes," I said.

"Reeeally?"

"On what's left of my honour and besmirched name, I am willing."

"Ahhh...now that's more what I'd expected from you. Good, this is a good sign."

I remained quiet, wanting him to continue.

"If you truly wish to find him, you must first lose yourself. In nightmares and dreams. And not what it seems. For he slips through the shades of shadow."

"So he is alive," I asked.

The beggar stared at me, something like a grin crossed his face. "The question you should be asking is," he muttered, "how long will you still be?"

Not sure what to make of the Google map. Hopefully this will lead somewhere(but not expecting to much) even if it's just more of his writing. Qu13e has definitely intrigued me enough to want to see more of it.
At the very least I think this points to splinternails still being alive.

The Tag "it's in between the echoes where you'll" is the subject from an email I received from Halten Kehle during Qu13e minus the end "find me". Perhaps this is a challenge to us to find him?

With the lack of activity and the sites being removed, I'm fairly sure this game is over.

I don't want to accept it, because this game was so much fun. Perhaps this is just the end of a stage, or a warmup? Who knows. All I know is that I think this is it.

What do you guys think? Should we hold out any longer?

it has been a while since we've heard from sparkrent, oboenai,
Clockstop the Whys or Random-- and we are further frustrated
now that the site is down. i have sent several emails
out but have received no reply. i am banging my head as to
how we can contact the pm... even just to see if our game
is over or if we should be marching on with no12no puzzle.
any thoughts, gang? post them here. hope this isn't over,
it has been an incredibly fun game so far.. and the work
is amazing. the visuals, the puzzles, the crazy world..

Having seen the weird letters on Glecius' tiqu13et, "lelrcwtKoT", I randomly tried sending mail to "lelrcwtKoT@qu13e.com".

I haven't gotten it sent back to me yet. I didn't expect it to work, which is why I even tried.

What with the site being down, I don't know if I'll even get anything back...I kind of don't expect to.

But, it was at least something.

Not sure if I'm supposed to create new topics in this section, but I think the more we keep things apart, the easier it will be on us.

I'm guessing this means oboenai is the Mistress? If so, that would mean Qu13en needs to wake oboenai and she will know what to do, I think.

Since we now know that we can each ask for one request by giving our soul to splinternails, let's try to coordinate what we're going to ask for. If we work as a team, we can get a lot of good information.

Well, since Glecius said that he found in the comments "Username: qu13est", I entered "Qu13est" for the username.

Clockstop still says that the key is "me", so I put down the password as "Clockstop the Whys".

It took me back to the old SOLITAIREA image about the rising sun. Since NateBlizz says it ends up being "hernameSPLATqu13e.com, I'm assuming it's mainly there for new players to catch up.

[PUZZLE] Puzzle - panicht [SOLVED]

This might not seem like a puzzle as you might think of one, but in context it is most certainly a puzzle, and it needs to be solved. What I'm hoping we can put together is a concept for your attempts, methods, and procedures. You can have the perfect concept and method, but if you miss the procedure by a hair it doesnt work out right, so lets scratch each others brains, as well as our own.

Clue in the source: If you wish to pass beyond this door, make Three and Three the cube of 4.

There are SO many ways this can be taken it is unbelievable, but I think that was the point. Never read the entire thing and think it means what it says, we got fooled with wordplay once before. It was staring us in the face and we glossed right over it. Dont assume "Three and Three" mean the actual numbers, although they might.

Things I have tried:

- Used Three and Three to make 33 and subtracted it from 64 (cube of 4) to make 31.

- Tried using cube of 4 into 64 to create a base conversion. So many ways that could be worked out I'm sure I didnt hit each one.

- Searched Google and came up with tons o stuff about Rubiks cube, plus some puzzle about "happy cube" but didnt see any type of correlation.

- Tried looking at logarithms.

- Tried looking for wordplay, that can drive you nuts.

There are many more and I will add them as I think of them.
