Text

While barcodes were first invented in 1949 and patented in 1952, it took another 22 years until the first retail product was sold with a barcode reader (In case you were wondering, it was a ten pack of Wrigleys Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum). Today, There are over 300 Different types of barcodes used all over the world.

Here are the barcodes for four different products. What could you cook if you had them?
[S2] [Dice Set] #005 Ixtilton

Front:

To celebrate the completion of the great temple, a feast for all the people was arranged. Ixtilton had been tasked with preparing a drink of chocolate and spices to be served at the occasion, but in the excitement and chaos of the day the storage jars had been moved around. In which jars are located the chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon?

(The pictures of the jars are scratch n sniff)

Back:

This spear sleeps not on an island
Amidst a fog of air and water
But in a void, forever holding its breath
Waiting for a deadly silence

And when the song ceases this spear exhales
Pushing off the top of the slide
Falling down a blue-green well
No longer free of the forces below

This spear sights down, kissing the horizon
Then slices into its hidden shield
Formed of a furious wind
That scours its blade and sears its shaft

Wreathed with fire, this spear charges on
Rushing to answer the call of its colours
Whose banner is planted as a target
That emerges ahead through the blinding flames

This spear curls through the air
Trembling with speed, it sings
And in its wake, stripped molecules dance
Witness to the fury unfolding

With ten thousand others, it strikes
Tearing the earth apart in symphony
Until nothing moves or sees or hears
And this spear sleeps again, fulfilled

#108 - Green - My Three Children

During one of the weekly tutorials I give in basic puzzle design, one of my students arrived early and we started chating about my kids. "I think you mentioned you had three children, how old are they now?" she asked. Sensing the opportunity to give a bit of extra tuition here, I replied, "The product of their ages is 36. Oh, and the sum of their ages is this room number."
She glanced up at the door, mulled this over for a while and eventually said, "I still can't work it out with that." "You're absolutely right. Did I mention that my youngest daughter has blue eyes?" I said helpfully. And with that, she'd worked it out. Can you figure out how old my children are?

Puzzle set by Anna.
Unable to scan, background shows Anna and student in the room, but no number visible on door. The puzzle is written in a font similar to StudlyCaps, but only size of letters changes not the case - and is consistent, eg. all lower case e's are the same size as Capitals.(sorry, I expect someone knows the name of this font, but not me)

Map shows Aurora Lane, Sidney Lane, Free Flow and Anthro Replication building.
Grand Frederik's Station.
Grand Frederik's Station is the new central hub for rail and subway transportation in Perplex City. From the air, the station has a wasp-like shape with a black climate-controlled semipermeable roof and two transparent retractable wings for shelter against weather.

Black Card Trading? Anyone?

Hi,

I'm sorry if I've put this in the wrong place but everything seems so messy and all over the place. Perhaps we should start card trading forums by each colour and wave? It'd be so much simpler to find things and you wouldn't have to trawl for ages trying to find something. Please forgive me if I'm seem to be rude of anything, because I don't mean to be and please don't trout me because I'm an ickle newbie and don't know all the rules and the in's and out's ect. (although I'm trying to learn them!).

*ducking to avoid fish*

Well anyway, I've got spares of Black 219 and 210 and need to get 215 and 217. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks
[S2] [OXO Set] #012 The Owl and the Wolf

Front:

A story tells of an evil magician who was in love with a young girl. the girl, however, had already met her true love and so spurned the attentions of the magician.

In his rage, the magician cursed the couple. The girl would spend the day as a human and the night as an owl whilst her true love would spend the day as a wolf and the night as a human. They could never be together again as boy and girl.

The curse would last until there was a night within a day or until the girl gave herself to the evil magician, sealing the bargain with a kiss.

Save giving in, what would break the curse?

Back:

Choose Your Misadventure

Perplex City is in danger! Over the past few days, everyone who has entered the Mimasan Maze has disappeared. You are young, intelligent and ready for action, as long as it doesn't involve zombies... or lemons. They always give you the willies. At the deserted maze's entrance, your first choice presents itself: will you take the tunnel route (Chapter 1), head up the ladder (Chapter XIV), or go down the eerily dark slide (Chapter IV)?

VII

You jump into the impossibly dark hole, and fall down and down. The wind rushes through your hair, ruining your carefully styled strands. After about ten seconds of freefalling, you realise that you're either going to go splat sometime soon or this hole is never-ending. You attempt to swim through the air to find one of the walls in the darkness. As you drift closer to a wall, you can just about make out a button in front of you and a round, person-sized hole. But they aren't moving. Shouldn't you be flying past them at speed, or are they falling too? How confusing. Should you hit the button (Chapter XI) or try and clamber through the hole (Chapter X)?

VIII

Surprisingly, sliding like a slithering snake is somewhat successful, if rather slimy. The snakes part to allow you to pass and seem to have respect for a 'snake' as large as you. When you crawl towards the doos, they remain watching you, as if hypnotised. When you stand up near the exit, the snakes mimic your movement and rear up as one. You lean left, they lean left. You lean right, the... well, you get it. Maybe these snakes could help you... or maybe they could be waiting for the right moment to attack. Do you allow the snakes to follow you through the door (Chapter XII), or shut it after you, trapping them in (Chapter XXIV)?

IX

Being a kind person, you tell the monster "I am happy. Everyone is happy. Dancing isn't the key to happines. You need to stop trying to change people and let them live their own lives." He stops wailing and sniffles ".ER'UOY THGIR .KNAHT UOY ELTTIL TELGIP". He lifts you off your feet, wipes his eyes with you and places you in his mouth, crunching your bones slowly. And, with a poof, he is gone. And so are you. Oh well, you saved the world. You just couldn't save yourself.

This'll be my first ever first post on a topic about solving. I believe the answer to this is:

a total eclipse of the sun, or possibly just 'eclipse', knowing how picky the solve forms often are!

If I've done anything wrong, as it's my first time doing this, please let me know ASAP.

is it possible to check season 2 solves?

Having just unearthed by file of cards, does anyone know if you can check season 2 card solves anywhere please?
The official Perplexcity site does not seem to recognise the numbers (under the scratch off panel) for anything other than wave 1 cards. I don't really want to think I have wasted time & money on these - but I might have :(

Does anyone have any spare red/orange/yellow Season 1 cards?

I got lots and lots of Perplex City cards when they were still on wave 3 of season 1. This means I have a near-perfect wave 1-3 collection but am severely lacking on wave 4 even in the really low-coloured cards. I've been getting some cards off ebay but for reds/oranges/yellows they only seem to sell them in "complete sets" and I don't want to buy ALL of them, so I was wondering if anyone had any spares they didn't mind sending me?

I need:
Red: 8 26 28 29 31 32
Orange: 58 60 61 62 63 64
Yellow: 72 90 92 94 95 96

I have spares of almost everything else so if you have anything missing that you want to swap, I'll be more than happy to.

(I also need some silvers and blacks (scroll down), which I made different posts for a while back.)

Yes, that's right, I'm one of the determined few who
a) didn't get round to completing their S1 card set and
b) still cares...

So anyway, I have duplicates of
225 Broadside
230 Eternally Grateful
233 The Earth's Destiny
243 Shuffled
244 Syzygy Cube
246 Homage in Glass
247 Polar
248 Differently Lethal
249 The Angel's Key

I need
235 Circuitous
236 Swarms
237 Roaming Identity
238 Riemann
239 Persian
245 Relativity
250 Manoeuvres
252 C. 237.85, F. 460.13,
253 Sightseeing
254 Escape
255 Clinical Explanation
256 Billion To One

If anyone has spares they haven't eBayed and is still up for a swap, I would love to do so. I live in the UK but I'm willing to post outside of it.

Looking for Season 1 Silvers

I have pretty much given up hope of ever getting all of the Season 1 silver cards. However, I'm going to try something new: I am now interested in trading for your used Season 1 silvers. Sure, I still prefer cards with untouched codes but I really want to finish up my collection!

I still need the following:

#236 Swarms
#237 Roaming Identity
#238 Riemann
#239 Persian
#250 Manoeuvres
#252 C. 237.85, F. 460.13,
#253 Sightseeing
#255 Clinical Explanation
#256 Billion to One

Unfortunately, I am down to only two silver cards to trade...

#240 Elucidate
#249 The Angel's Key

If you would like to trade a used silver card, I probably would not be interested in trading my unused silvers. However, I have other Season 1 cards available:

#012 Alcopoetry
#044 You Are Here
#121 Seven Bridges
#142 Photoshopped
#161 Dances With Bees
#163 Domino Dilemma
#164 Weighs and Means
#165 Rolling Around x2
#167 Circular
#170 Vexillology
#172 Freefall
#173 The 14-15 Puzzle
#174 Jaunty Paul
#175 Binary
#177 Consider A Spherical World
#179 By Another Name
#180 ARG!
#183 Drinking Gourd
#184 Love Letters
#185 Spin Cycle
#187 Logical Fallacies
#188 Hybridisation
#191 My Dear Watson
#192 Pronunciation
#196 RGB
#197 Linguini Junction
#198 Headrush
#199 Three
#201 Smoke and Mirrors
#202 Mother Tongue x2
#208 Freak Word x3
#209 Little Pigley Farm x5
#212 Whipsmart Birthday
#213 We Be Rational Pirates! Arrr! x6
#214 Traces
#217 Tower of Cubes x5

I also have lots of Season 2 cards available... Pretty much everything from Wave 1 and 2, red through black. (If you would like me to list them out, just ask!)

I will ship cards to anywhere my post office will! Thanks for your help!!!

[PUZZLE] Map pieces

No-one seems to have posted on this yet, so here goes:

I have been having a look at the maps on the reverse of the cards, and at the pieces of map that were in the tour guide, and have been able to join some of them together.

Here are the links to the wiki:

Reverse of page 074 map

Reverse of page 138 map

Reverse of page 170 map

Reverse of page 219 map

Tour guide pages

I have joined three sets of pieces as so:

074 + 138 + front page middle row third from left

170 + front page top row second from left

219 + front page top row third from left and 9.30 am

Would someone let me know if there is a way to attach these so they dont show???
