Another Art of the Heist Award

The Art of the Heist campaign was one of the four finalists at the April 19th "Battle of the Brands" held in NYC at NBC's Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center. Although it didn't win the top prize, it was awarded the "Creativity Award".

Unless you're me. In which case you get to hang out in a room with a bunch of other dead, kidnapped, and arrested people where you raid the mini-bar and order room service. Then you go out to a party and drink some free Midori Sours, and take lots of pictures ...

I'm really sorry, but I'm very tired. I need to get two more files off my Treo for you guys and then I'm going to sleep.

I will post everything that happened to me incrementally on the marrow.

The short story is this...

I was aware of the rules. I was also aware that the rules came about as a result of something that happened which left a bad taste in people's mouths. I remembered Rose mentioning it during the first Project Gateway.

The PMs were aware of the rules to and kept me more or less in the dark up to the last moment before we filmed.

After we filmed, I stopped interacting with y'all here on unfiction and in the chatroom. In accordance with the Unfiction rules. But I did contact Kane on StolenA3 (being an in game site) and took phone calls up to the point I was scheduled to be at the hotel.

On the one hand, I was very excited and I hoped you all would get a kick out of it. On the other, I kind of felt bad, and I was a little worried because I remember back when Wee didn't spill the beans about his notorious phone call with Melissa.

I stood by Wee then for keeping it to himself then, and I still feel the same now. On the other hand, I no longer don't understand that chick on season two of the Joe Shmoe Show feeling so bad. Particularly after all the times I admonished Nisha and Ian for not letting each other know important information...

As this makes me a big fat hypocrite...

But at least I'm a hypocrite with a good sense of dramatic timing. :)

AotH Awards and Follow-up

I thought everyone might like to know that the Art of the Heist has won several awards at the Mixx Conference and Awards meeting, including the coveted "Best in Show" award. I Love Bees , called the Halo 2 viral campaign at the show, was also recognized in the Viral/Word Of Mouth/Peer-to-Peer Marketing category, for which AotH took second place. AotH also won under Online Integration and a couple of other categories too.

If you participated in Heist on any level, and are coming to ARGFest NY, we'd like to interview you for a promotional film. The film would be used to promote the campaign and hopefully help us continue finding clients to do this kind of project.

Nisha belting Emile with his laptop has to be a serious contender, but my own personal favourite was Jason at the NYC heist, trying to maintain some decorum as a TV presenter while looking for the evasive SD card: "I'm here inside the Audi A3... I don't know where the damn ****ing thing is!!"

Sheer comedy genius. Sir, I salute you :)

The overall story

I want to start a thread which tries to piece together what the overall story was.
I'm not sure I have a very clear idea but I'll post my thoughts, then through a process of heaping scorn on my naivety, the truth might emerge.

Emile hated Virgil and decided that the best way to hurt him was through Nisha. So Emile hires Gunter to plan an art heist and makes sure that news of it leaks to LRR.
As the LRR investigation goes on, Emile ups the temperature with blackmail, goons and murder.
Emile tries to set-up Virgil as the evil mastermind behind all of this, primarily in the eyes of Nisha.
Emile succeeds in turning Nisha against Virgil and making Virgil look sad and deluded but appears to have confessed publicly to several murders.

Epilogue
Emile (and the goons) go to jail.
Virgil goes to the madhouse.
Nisha and Ian rekindle their love and get married in a castle in Austria with Will Star as bestman / DJ.

A problem with this account is that it leaves the whole 'art heist' storyline and associated SD card cracking as a bit of an irrelevance.
