Looks like a new video went up for the 10 year anniversary????

'Lonelygirl15' adopts product placement

LOS ANGELES (AP) - In last week's episode of the web drama "Lonelygirl15," teen pals Bree, Daniel and Jonas are on the road, running from the mysterious evil group "The Order" when Daniel spots Bree clutching a small, lime-green box.

"What's that? Daniel says. "Ice Breakers Sours Gum," Bree replies as the camera zooms in for a close-up - on the box.

After offering it to her buddies, Bree playfully pops the last four pieces into her mouth with a giggle.

The exchange is more than just a light moment in a web drama that's taken a dark turn. It's a paid advertisement known in the entertainment industry as a product placement, a way for the popular teen Internet soap opera to boost its finances.

The show became a web sensation last fall after episodes were posted on YouTube. The success continued even after it was revealed that the homespun videos were actually a scripted series created by three friends and starring 19-year-old actress Jessica Lee Rose.

The creators have been searching for ways to raise money to keep the production going, including adding static advertisements to the end of each episode, with the proceeds split with the Internet site that now hosts the videos. They have also been soliciting donations from fans.

As short, episodic entertainment begins to flourish on the web, other show creators are also thinking of integrating ad messages into their plots. After all, the same has been done for years in films, TV shows and even video games.

Advertisers are also looking to spend more money online as their traditional TV audience begins to splinter.

"The goal was to raise awareness of the brand among our target consumers," said Kirk Saville, a spokesman for Hershey Co., which makes Ice Breakers. "It already has generated substantial interest on the LG15 site and blogs worldwide."

Hershey and the creators of "Lonelygirl15" would not discuss the financial terms of the deal.

The show's makers had hoped from the start that advertisers would pay to have their food, clothes, cellphones or other such products used by the show's characters.

About a month ago, they were approached by Hershey's advertising agency. It turned out the brand manager for Ice Breakers gum was a big fan of the show and felt that featuring the product in an episode would reach the desired demographic.

But the show's creators were concerned the fan base would rebel.

"When we realized we were going to do it, we went on the forum and said a candy company approached us and wants to do an integration," co-creator Greg Goodfried said. "We told them Bree and Daniel will eat it. But we also said we're not going to do it if it pisses you off."

Of the 200 people who responded, 90 per cent approved, Goodfried said.

Remarks posted online after the episode aired also ran mostly in favour.

Well I just thought I would throw this out there because the offshoot storyline of LG15 has gotten a little out of hand. I just wanted to sum up some of the thoughts and ideas that we are left with as well as try and sort what was still an active game-jack or storyline.

First we were give the cassieiswatching story. which gave us a few anagrams and small puzzles to figure out. This story line was game-jacked itself four or five times to my knowledge or at least three that were relevant game-jacks. Cassie also gave us a few drops but we never received any answers only more questions. Cassieiswatching also made an appearance in second life were she left us an anagram. To date the anagram left to us from cassieiswatching in second life has yet to be fully deciphered.

Which now brings up my first game-jack of the game-jack the MS Cassie or Cassie on myspace. The myspace Cassie has never truly been claimed by cassieiswatching. And was actually disregarded by the youtube Cassie as in her statement " Myspace lies". So it is in my opinion that MS Cassie has yet to offer us a continuous storyline.

Now we go off to the second game-jack of a game-jack. Frankiswaking who had his own blogspace and youtube accounts. There was some debate on if both were carried by the same game-jacker or one or the other in itself was a game jack. From Franks blogs we were give a story line about a strange man who heard voices, voices of a girl (whom we were to believe was Cassie) telling him to do things. Things like wait, real exiting, waiting!
So Frank somehow comes under the power of Cassie or maybe it was the Jack Daniels and leaves us a location and drop. Shortly afterwards he bites the bullet and joins Cassie in the realm of the dead so to speak. leaving us with a message from his ex and a strange cypher which has yet to my knowledge been deciphered. So it is in my opinion that this game jack will not further the storyline along further.

Now we go even deeper into the cassieiswatching game-jacking. OpAphid offers a different play on the cassieiswatching. OpAphid uses the existing audio to create a new set of videos on youtube. Currently she has created some very cryptic messages in her very well done videos but as of yet she has not started any type of Arg. But a phone number was acquired from her which had a message telling us to wait for further instruction. So it is my opinion that there might be some upcoming action for us to look out for from OpAphid.

There is yet another game-jack in progress. It is cassieisevil on youtube. This follows right in the footsteps of cassieiswatching. With the exception of there are no dead drops at this point. just some cassieiswatching style video.

Next we have the beautiful gemmers19 who has been found to be close to the actual actress playing Bree. She now has a story claiming to be friends with Bree from her childhood. Whether this is an actual tie in with the LG15 story is still up for debate. Or if this will offer up some ARGish qualities is also up for debate. Besides looking at a beautiful blue eyed brunette thus far gemmers has offered nothing new to the storyline.

Since this has come up in Daniel's last video I thought it might need its own thread to discuss any information found on the subject. So far all I have found is a bunch of information on a place in northern Egypt. It looks to be a temple with a lot of strange hyroglyphs, and a large etched out design on the ceiling. Any info you find feel free to post it here.

As far as the language goes I am not sure how useful it will be. I dought that Bree will walk around chanting some strange dead laguage but any info found feel free to post it here.

I posted this in Timewasters...mostly because I feel that it's just a puzzle at the moment, and it seems to be distancing itself from CiW. I firmly believe CiW to be a dead trail at this point...OpAphid seems to be the legitimate heir to the LG15 ARG title...but we'll see.
