[INFO] DVDs of The Host now out

The DVD set of The Host is out now. I recommend anyone who missed this movie to give it a look. The director is stunningly brilliant (as I think I've said in every post about the film). The actress who plays the daughter is excellent as well.

The DVD set has a whole slew of extras with interviews about the making of the film. Director Bong speaks in great detail about making the film.

I think the film was made for a budget of $11 million, at least that was the figure given in one of the interviews. Given the amount of money they had to work with, the accomplishment of this film, with the complex CG shots, is all the more impressive.

I'm glad that the film did so well in the US. I think that the Monster Hunters campaign was very successful in spreading the word. I know that I would not have watched this film, or any of Director Bong's movies otherwise. Now, I'm a true and loyal fan.

[OT] Bong Joon- Ho and Memories of Murder

My local video store has a shelf with staff picks. I noticed Memories of Murder was a top recommendation and after seeing how brilliant this director was with The Host, I decided to rent it.

Memories of Murder is a brilliant and heartbreaking film. Based on a true story of the first known serial killer in South Korea, it tells the story of the investigation. Part of the intensity of the story is from the disparity of the local rural detectives, their training and the way they live from that of a detective from Seoul. All the acting is impressive.

I recommend that any MHC members who enjoyed The Host watch Memories of Murder.

I heard that Bong Joon-Ho is going to be making films here in America. I can't wait to see what his next project is, I expect a long and productive career from him. As the saying goes, his talent leaps off the screen - only in a way that isn't cliche.

Konamouse,

You've already done what you needed to with this information - providing it to me. I now know exactly where Genero is; in fact, I am literally right on his doorstep as I write this.

There is one thing left to do, and I need all of your help for it. The post I just made explains why and how.

Let everyone know - today is the day.

CT

He then posted

I am sorry for resorting to this one more time, but I fear everything we do is being watched now, as I said before.

Gather together what help you can so that the opportunity doesn't avoid you.

Update: Monster Hunter Club News

Anti-Sasquatch discrimination? - Fri, February 2, 2007

So the Today Show will let in a girl in a cookie costume, but not a cuddly, adorable, 7-foot Sasquatch model? What gives? Anthropomorphized edibles make for good TV, but not a species that could be our closest living relative? Clearly their policy is not across-the-board sapienism, hence the non-human, bipedal baked goods. And it also can't be the fact that we were promoting MHC, since I saw some other hand lettered signs pimping the aforementioned cookies, as well as some basketball team. It must just be a straight up anti-cryptid policy. For shame, Today Show, for shame. You're just lucky Sasquatches don't have lawyers (yet.)

I wish I could blame the show for all that happened yesterday, but I really must take some responsibility, even though their cryptozoophobic rules definitely got the snowball rolling.

It all started when show security wouldn't let us bring the Bigfoot model anywhere near where they do the taping. I was a bit bummed, but willing to try to get on camera without him anyway. Problem was, there wasn't anywhere to stash Fluffy in the mean time, so I decided to rush back to the dorm. We still had over an hour until air time, so it would be just a few minutes on the B-train, a couple blocks walking, then haul ass back. 45-50 minutes, tops. No problem. Except...

I fell asleep.

I'm not a morning person to begin with, and the pulse-pounding trip hauling a giant Bigfoot back through the cold left me a bit winded, so I sat down on the couch to catch my breath. Next thing I know, I'm waking up at 8:15 to find seven increasingly angry voicemails from Matt and Sun-Yi. Crap. I called Sun-Yi and told her I'd be back in a few.

They were both pretty mad, and not sure whether they got on TV or not. I apologized profusely and told them I'd treat for breakfast. I wanted them to order eggs benedict, or a crab omelet with real crab or something, to wash away some of the guilt I felt, but they just split a bagel, since neither of them were very hungry. Then Sun-Yi thanked Matt for the birthday e-card he sent her the other day. Sun-Yi's birthday was the other day, you idiot.

On the way back, I popped into a bookstore real quick and found a first-edition, signed copy of one of my favorite books. Suffice to say they didn't really share my enthusiasm. Matt and I kinda got into a bit, and then I crammed my foot in my mouth, oh, about shin-deep. Of course Sun-Yi, ever the film student, captured my graceful moment with her might-as-well-be-surgically-attached camcorder. Nice.

I told Sun-Yi to try to make it up to her, at least somewhat, I'd give another mention of her free screening of The Host, 8:00 PM on Monday, Feb. 12th at the Magno Review Center, 729 7th Ave. (between 48th-49th Sts.) New York, NY, in Room 1. If you're interested, give Sun-Yi a holler: myspace.com/koreanfilmfan (You can check out some Today Show videos on her blog there, too.) I guess it also wouldn't hurt for me to plug Sun-Yi's brilliant new film column over at Twitch (do a search for 'Sun-Yi Park' to find her latest.) And it really wouldn't hurt for me to say HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SUN-YI!!!

I asked Matt what I could do to make it up to him, but he said, "Just forget it. That's what you're good at anyway." Ouch.

At least I've got Amie's visit to look forward to. She called me again and said she's coming to NY so we can put our heads together on the Jon situation. Whatever. All I know is, I could really use a friend right now, even an, ahem , "old friend" (nice one, Amie.) She didn't really mention where she'd be crashing, but I can't imagine she'd have loads of dough to drop on a Manhattan hotel room. Guess we'll see what happens.

Until then, would you mind handing me that shovel? I'm just gonna dig a hole and crawl in....

[Update] Cryptidtruth 3.15 post on MHC [ Hunting a Monster ]

Hunting a Monster

I am truly sorry, Sun-Yi, for not being able to do anything to prevent Genero from claiming more victims. These deaths will not lie easy in my conscience and I know there is no way that you can ever forgive me. I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Genero was indeed responsible for the explosion that killed your parents, acting through his agents here in the States.

Many of you have written to me and asked me how this could be the same man who worked for Nazi Germany and later conducted illegal and immoral programs under the auspices of the U.S. government? There is evidence that Genero has used his terrible research and experiments to find a way to prolong human life, using a mixture of radical chemical and surgical protocols. I believe he recruited young men like Jon Paine as fodder for his "body mill", pieces for rebuilding and reinvigorating whatever monsterous form he has become. Perhaps their own experimentation with body alteration made them perfect subjects for his work, or maybe even willing participants and gullible volunteers for what he did to them.

I know this because my sources inside the U.S. government have confirmed it, and because I have hunted this monster for many, many years. I have been seeking both him and evidence against him of the terrible things he has done for a long time. I have tried to do what I thought was right at every turn and yet still I have failed, each time, as Genero finds a way to evade me or use his power and influence over local authorities to preclude me from acting. And I, like you, have paid a heavy price.

And others have, too. Genero's work in Thailand on the Rainbow Project and on Project ELF on that farm in Kentucky claimed dozens, possibly hundreds of lives. They are all calling out for justice.

Circumstances have conspired to provide me with one last chance to make things right. To those who have played a part in that through private messages here, thank you. I may need your help again yet.

I am attaching an image that may help you as well, a screen capture I grabbed from Nate Shiffer's computer while I was "liberating" certain materials from his M-A-R-A collection. If I would have known then the fate awaiting him, I would have taken more care to copy or print everything on there I could find.

Take care of each other and please don't despair. Genero still has assistance in many locations so until he is dealt with, the danger remains both very real and very close.

I only post this because I am certain Miss Park would have been notified by now.

I have waited far too long, decades too long in some cases. There is no forgiveness for things I might have been able to prevent, and I ask for none.

Dr. Genero has been responsbile for far too many deaths and some things even worse. We both have debts to pay and it is time we paid them.

Matt posted a new entry on RoD:

The last of Tinneman's codes - Wed, March 14, 2007

As far as I can tell, these are the last of Dr. Tinneman's codes. I've scoured everything, shaken out all the journal pages and looked in every envelope and cardboard flap. I'd been feeling pretty hopeless about the whole Genero situation, though, and felt like a robot as I was scanning these last pages in, as if I were doing it more out of a sense of obligation. Closure, at least for all you folks out there who have been graciously helping me with all these codes. But what was the point, really? Genero is still out there somewhere, continuing his evil deeds, evading justice forever, just like he has for forty years.

Then I got the first real glimmer of hope I've had in quite some time. I got an email from Konamouse at MHC, with a very important piece of information. I don't want to reveal it publicly, for reasons that I'm hoping and praying will soon become apparent. But trust me, it's big.

So at least Matt seems to have not given up on things....

The codes look like variants on the decoder flap ciphers .
