Secrets Revealed

So just for the record -

I have four accounts - tgi fridays, beckett samuels, homestarrunner, and jimbo.

I gave Hook's manifesto to Foo which caused me to get bumped up to yellow.

I betrayed alias angel to Foo for working with Hook. Not that much came of this.

The Red Group page was an msn group called Realistic Expectations for Discussion. There were ony three members. :-)

I suggested that Carmine Damask is Hook to Kropp and told him track her.

I've never talked to jdcool throughout this entire game - i really have no idea why people kept thinking we had something going on.

Other stuff i'm sure is equally unimportant, but which i'm happy to share...

Anyone else have any interesting dirt?

PM Chat Arrangements

I just received an email from Adam responding to a request I sent for PM Chats. As he has entered the "dissertation phase" of his project, he's very eager to hear our feedback and pass along answers...

The poll is up to determine which means of communication you'd prefer for the PM Chat. The final decision and logistics is, of course, up to the PM team but it should be a good way to gauge interest / preferences.

Also, leave a comment with a general idea of when you might be available so we can arrange the best time/venue.

ALSO: there's one option I haven't listed, but I don't want to get into that unless/until I get confirmation it's okay.

RESTART AGAIN?

I'm sad to say that my work does not allow me to look at anything else besides argn.com and unforums. So I have no clue if Deus City is restarting. It's supposed to restart in Fall unless Brackin was pulling my leg.

If so I might have to restart the Beat Brakin Club. LOL

PM thread

Hi there.

I feel like I know many of you so well already, but we're looking forward to answering your Q's. I'll get us started...

This game was born of an idea I had while writing a screenplay named "Deus Ex Machina" in 2004, starring a Cyber Noir cop named N. Sawyer, later re-written as the micro-novella you know as ch. 1-13.

The DC ARG was envisioned as a sort of Massive Multi Player Role-Playing Game with stats, but which worked on a mechanic similar to puzzle cards. The difference? Free to all, student created, intended to explore multiple ARG delivery methods, and with no expectations of success or failure.

Much of what you may know about me is true. I wrote myself in as a character fairly realistically at first. I AM a UT Dallas PhD student doing my dissertation. I'm from Dallas, I love Nostradamus, End time prophecy and post-apoc. fiction, as well as conspiracy theories and have a great love for time-travel and time-com theory. I AM writing my final dissertation now, and intend to graduate in May - god willing.

Want to be a part of my post-game data collection and included in my published dissertation? Simply answer the following dozen questions as thoroughly as possible... the more of you the better! I reserve the right to quote you using your UF login and/or DC login. You can email them to me if you want to remain anonymous: albrackin(splat)gmail.com, or post them for the world to see and try to sway the masses...

1) What was your favorite aspect of DC? Explain.
2) What was your least favorite aspect of DC? Explain.
3) What would you like to see change in a future similar project?
4) Did DC push the current boundaries of ARG/CF? Explain.
5) Was the "one year time line" successful? (11-11-06 to 11-11-07)
6) How did you find out about DC? (specify IG/OOG and/or trailhead)
7) How does DC's structure compare to the commonly accepted 4orty 2wo entertainment model of player interaction? http://www.42entertainment.com/see_images/triangle.jpg
8) How does your interaction compare to the 4orty 2wo entertainment model of player interaction?
9) What do you see as the future of ARG/CF?
10) Would you play/avoid a "grass-roots" low budget ARG/CF (such as DC) versus a big-budget "Commercial" ARG/CF?
11) Rank the following "ARG/CF elements" from most to least important: Design (website, graphics, pics), Story (writing), Puzzles (tasks), Player Interaction (forums, IM, etc), Real-world elements (non-internet), Videos (acting, sets, youtube, etc), Other (specify)
12) In what ways was DC "broken" or a "failure"?

Can't wait to hear from you... Looking forward to the upcoming live chat.
Now it's your turn... ask your questions bridgekeeper we are not afraid.
- (The real) Adam Brackin, DC head writer

Deus City Fanfiction

Hey everyone.

So after finding out that I died and all of that I had to sort of justify it to myself. My way of doing this is writing my own fanfiction. Obviously nothing in fanfiction is ever canon so it is fun to sort of just write how I think my life post-WWIII would turn out and how it would end up where it did. When I am done I will release it to anyone interested in a PDF and here is the prologue if you like. :p

PROLOGUE: THE MEANING IN THE PUDDLE

The unionist Bakunin once said that the first lesson a revolutionary needs to learn is that he is a doomed man. Well I may not be a man but I am definitely doomed, and in goddamned golden heels no less. I can already feel the blood pooling in my lungs. It is painful and it burns but it is not like I can complain, not with my throat crushed inward. Fortunately all my throat and lungs have to do is fail, just trying to blink away the tears is work enough without needing to worry about breathing. I wish that I could remember the rest of that Bakunin quote but instead all that I can remember in the moment is something that Guevara said during all that Cuban business so long ago. He said that, for any revolutionary, death is the reality and victory is the dream. Right now I hate Guevara for being so on the money.

I also hate him for having his own damned shirt.

The man with the ponytail is skulking about the print shop and I can hear his footsteps echoing off the concrete floors. I cannot really see what he is up to though I think he is perusing the posters. If I could talk I would say something clever but the pain is fading too quickly to be held on to and my mind is beginning to wander away from the print shop floor, even the slightest movement makes the room spin so quickly I may as well be blind and focusing on anything but my wandering thoughts is impossible. This must be how it feels to have shock set in. Ponytail is laughing and saying something about god and the machine but I stopped caring three minutes ago.

How did he find me?

I was supposed to have been meeting with Lexington about distributing some of our materials onto the database to help inspire the agents back in the past. I had not actually seen Lexington for a few months but he was always busy with something or another and I suppose the realization that he had put on a bit of weight while holed up in his office made sense to me at the time. Glass shatters as the bottles of beer I had acquired for our first conversation in months fall to the floor. Nothing made my day like those long and dramatic talks he and I had been having since the good old days before the war. Beer smell fills the room and mingles with the smell of pigment and paper and concrete, producing a scent that is metallic and tart and full of experience. To my bloodied but somehow hyperaware nose it smells like the past and I never do manage to realize that this is only delirium and all I can really smell is my own blood.

Other people should maybe write their own! Keep one another entertained! Eh? Eh? Good idea, right?

Fan-inspired Deus City game

If Agent Hook can write fan fic, I can make a fan game.

The game is however inspired by Deus City, made by my IC persona. Think of it in terms of symbols.
London Folio puzzle

I'm in a puzzling mood, and I wanted to get this puzzle out there eventually, so I may as well post this up.

By the way, in case you wanted to know, the sequence of events to get to this would have been:
1) Figure out that the to-do list in the news items was from Lex.
2) Contact me (ie "2007 self") about the message.
3) Get the puzzle.

Anyway, the background is that an international member of tCotSA recently died and left this cryptic message in his will...

07 - Oxford Circus, Baker Street, Green Park, Oxford Circus
5 - Piccadilly Circus, Green Park, Bond Street
53 - Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Green Park, Bond Street, Green Park, Victoria, Green Park, Westminster, Embankment
12 - Leicester Square, Green Park, Victoria
4 - Green Park
7 - Bond Street, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus
3 - Leicester Square, Embankment, Victoria, Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road

Good luck ;)

End game [SPEC]

So we all know it's ending, but i wanted to have a spot to speculate where everything is going.

Tara has died and Sawyer is bleeding. And we don't know how much chapters there will be.

One thing we know for sure is that you have to be able to read all the chapters in order to complete the tasks (how sawyer takes his coffee for example). So we have to work together on these.

The other is that it seems like as much as it was hinted in Chapter one that Sawyer was Adam, Chapter ten pretty much ruled that one out.

I'm thinking in the end Sawyer will die. Along with Moored. And Pi in the Sky was the ponytail guy. (ooh! a rhyme!)
The GK has to be revealed, and the prophesy is coming true.

But what do you guys think???

So, who wants to place some bets as to what happens on the thirtieth? Eh? Eh? And what are your plans for four days from now? Me? Ima be in a nightclub called Haven performing my sideshow stuff to the shock and amazement of pretty pretty goth girls. What are your plans? Costume parties? Bobbin for apples? Eh?
