i think it may be that missing piece inbetween halo 2 and 3.... bungie always said that they wanted to finish halo 2 with another level, but ran out of time. I think that this may be an expanded version of that level, where we're gunna play as UNSC soldiers dealing with the invasion.

the newest trailer from bungie has been released. and in it are bungie's usual cryptic messages, but one stands out above the rest.

"Maddie, where are you?"

major speculation has linked this quote to a british girl who went missing last year, but i personally think those people are retarded... Bungie has no reason to link a missing child to their universe whether it be ARG or other...

so what could it all mean?

Ultimately it served its purpose of being a low-end information dispenser. The Halo flavor was nice, and it was a way to kill time theorizing about stuff.

I don't regret the time spent talking about Iris stuff, I only wish there had been more to talk about and that the talk was not in vain.

As of 1/1/08 still no package for me. I'm doubting that anything will ever show up. Not the end of the world I guess, though next time MS wants to do an ARG, I don't think they should do it in-house. As much as they say it was a "Wonderful success", I think it fails for the simple fact that they didn't deliver on what they promised, and they led the players by the hand.

However, it was an honor playing with you guys.

I'm still hoping that those were rewards for people who had attempted to unlock but were unsuccessful (even if they eventually did unlock a server), and holding out (by a thread) for the rumour that the rewards might be related to the diorama itself (which in theory would explain why reward-only people haven't yet received anything; the diorama would likely still be in use).
That's a very, very unlikely hope... but hey, it's still something =P

Same for me, still waiting (in the UK) for my Server 2 reward. Well actually no, I stopped waiting a long time ago :P
