So this thing is everywhere - being used as a logo and as a marker for us to connect the pictures, so I thought it was about time it deserved its own thread - mainly for speculation and research

PhD Thesis Survey on ARG Players and PMs

Apologies if you've already seen this, it fell off the thread and I wanted to repost in case I missed anyone!

I'm currently doing some research for my PhD Thesis on ARGs. The main focus is on promotional ARGs for movies and the player/puppetmaster relationship. Super 8 is one of my case studies, which is why I've asked permission to post this on the game thread.

Hi people,

I asked myself, whether there is such City like Lillian in Ohio. Because, you know, I like unexisting cities.

I am bad in geography, and I also know, there is a Lillian city in Alabama. But perhaps, if the Lillian in Ohio is fictional city, we could find a trail website, official Lillian website of Ohio?

*At this point we have to be cautious: every website we'll find about Lillian, Ohio, which will mention Aliens, Area 51 or JJ Abrams stuff will be with huge possibility a gamejack*.

And... if there is actually city named Lillian in Ohio, than I'm waiting for a trout.

[SPEC] 1979 Oxford train derailment (Ohio)

Ok I hope this hasnt came up already but i was doing a little digging.

So we pretty much have to assume that this train in the trailer had to be heading to Wright-Patterson Airforce base since it is the only Airforce base in Ohio and it convieniantly is located on a railroad.

Ok so at this point I was looking for a wreck around that time and found the link below. I tells of a freight derailment in Oxford Ohio on July 21, 1979 in the paragraph below the second picture.

Oxford is right on the way Wright-Patterson if you went through Chicago. Which from Area 51 (also right by a railraod) you would have to go up to Salt Lake City which is dead west of Chicago.

Problem is I cant find any kind of officail page on this derailment? Any help would be useful as it seems this fits way to well. Also a railway map from 1979 would be helpful as we could retrace the route of the train in case any of the rails now were not there then.... And I hope this somehow leads us somewhere.

Check it out! New scroll bar and links. The freezer has new features too. I think some of the buttons on the dashboard are a little different. Right now it seems to be a little slower too - especially the CesnAtron.
I wonder if something will eventually go on the empty shelf below the Coop's Command Fleet shelf.

Looks like Josh checked out his dad's grave and discovered it was missing his dad. But he did find another letter. Apparently it was in a little metal box with the name Joe L. on it. Well that wasn't there when I checked - then again I didn't dig up any graves.

Josh says he'll scan the full letter when he can. So maybe there's more to come.

My favorite part was

the bus scene. seeing the alien tip over the bus and brutally kill all of the officers was so badass, also, this was the first time we really get to see the monster in all of its glory. after he kills all of the soldiers, he just crawls into the woods. AWESOME. The alien sort of looked like Abomination from the Incredible Hulk movie mixed with cloverfield + 2 more arms.

How ???

The super 8 cam falling down,and aiming to trains oposite driving direction... The kids running towards the direction the train is driving... after the train is crashed Joe sees how the door is blowing open... how the hell could the super 8 cam recording, the monster crawling towards the cam ???? the cam was still aiming to the direction the train came from !!!

What's all this then?

Hey people, I don't mean to troll, but why is this forum still active? The movie came and went a while ago, and from what (admittedly little) I've read, there's no in-game interaction. What qualifies this as an ARG?
