Based on the criteria from the poem on the greywethers.net page, and using the site list found at http://www.megalith.ukf.net/alpha.htm , and after much sorting and selecting (and a whole bunch of other data manipulation), I came up with the following list of stone circle sites that meet the requirements:

Only two of these sites anagram to anything meaningful - Logie Coldstone (GNOSTIC & COSTING) and Penshiel Grange (HARELIPS).

Unfortunately, trying these as passwords for a variety of user names (shadowtalk1, greenknight, and psammead) did not grant access.

I suSPECt that the user name is one of these (most likely GNOSTIC), and the password is yet to be determined based on those arithmetic puzzles found before.

some observations about this one:

- 47 letters (prime number) so probably not to be split into groups. unless it's a variable length code (morse code is a variable length code, but i dont think that's it in this case)

- locations of the letters within the story do not appear to be relevant since, for example, when a "d" follows a "b", it's always the first available one that comes next (1 exception at the end)

things I've tried that have not worked are:
- playing the a b c d's as music notes. I did not recognized any sort or tune but maybe some of you who are more musically inclined might make something out

- converting to a base 4 number with a=0, b=1, c=2, d=3 then converting to bases 2 to 36. in the case of base 2, i ran it thru a binary decoder as well.

I got this in the mail today. I think I translated it correctly. I hope someone can figure out what we are supposed to use this for. I think it may be to help us solve the Trithemius page. It looks like 3 of the alphabets like Trithemius would have used.

See the attached file. You can zoom in to see the letters and the numbers and the detail (someone really took a lot of time on this. it's really pretty).

I had also found this awhile back. I thought I would put it on the same pages with the info about Raymond Lull. It's probably not important, but I never know. It may help out someone.

Raymon Lull
The beginning of Christian Kabbalah is to be found in the teachings of the Catalan philosopher and mystic, Raymon Lull (1232 - c.1316). Living in a region where the Catholic Church was dominant, but a large part of the land was still under the rule of Moslem Arabs, and the Jews made an important contribution to the culture, Lull had the idea of unifying all three religions by developing a philosophy incoporating elements common to all. And although Lull's ultimate aim was still conversion of the heathens to Christianity, rather than simply tolerance and search for truth for its own sake, the way he intended to convert was through rational and mystical doctrine, rather than the tortues that the Church was to employ so efficently and brutally some two centuries later.

Lull based his Art on the importance which Christian, Moslem, and Jew each attached to the Divine Names or Attributes, or, as he called them, Dignities. Lull mentioned nine Dignities (or Dignitaries): Bonitas (Goodness), Magnitudo (Greatness), Eternitas (Eternity), Potestas (Power), Sapientia (Wisdom), Voluntas (Will), Virtus (Virtue), Veritas (Truth), and Gloria (Glory).

With a little juggling of the order we have all the Kabbalistic Sefirot bar the lowest one, Malkut or "Kingdom" (representing Creation itself):

In addition we also find the incorporation of the four elements and the qualities, the seven planets and twelves signs, medicine, alchemy, geometry, a letter notation, and so on. There is an elaborate system of correspondences, in that the nine Dignitaries have their correspondences in the celestial sphere, the human level, and the animal, plant, and material creation.

In all this we see the influence, not only of Kabbalah, but also of Aristotlean categories, Augustinian Platonism (nearly all the Lullian Dignities can be found listed as Augustine's Divine Attributes), and the celestial hierarchies of angels of the Christian Neoplatonist Dionysius. I'm certain that this must be posted elsewhere, but it's a site worth rereading if you are trying to crack Trithemius' cipher. It's about the men who did it, and how they did it.

In actuality, the numbers were the whole point of the 22-page treatise. Those numbers were encrypted messages.
Both Ernst and Reeds picked up on the same clues to the code. As they scanned the rows of numbers, the patterns suggested messages that were being repeated. Each time the message was repeated, however, the numbers increased by 25.
For instance, if Mississippi were encrypted as 1-2-3-3-2-3-3-2-4-4-2 in its first iteration, it would be repeated as 26-27-28-28-27-28-28-27-29-29-27. It appeared that Trithemius had prepared 28 different versions (one for each planetary "intelligence") of a 25-character alphabet.
The question then became: what alphabet? In the 15th century, the alphabet was still evolving. For instance, some alphabets used "uu" or "vv" instead of "w." Use of the letter "y" was just beginning.
Trithemius' alphabet is missing "j," "k," "u" and "y." It includes "th" from the Greek theta, "sch" from Hebrew and "tz" from who knows where, Ernst said.

Another interesting use of the Trithemius alphabet is found in the vital year of 1623. If the alphabet is 'doubled' according to Francis Bacon's directions in The Advancement of Learning, and numbered:

M...N..O..P..Q.R.S..T..V..X...Z.

the letters under 1 6 2 3 give A M F R B N C O or M. FR BACON.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the highest number in the equations, not the htmls, at Greywethers is eleven (?). Hmmm.
I'm not sure how to apply any one this, but maybe it will help someone else. :)
